There's lots of these type of game in VR, but this one is pretty polished overall & has a nice increment to the challenge. It seems new mechanics are introduced at a steady pace. There's a total of 90 levels, along with a level editor, so there's plenty of content for your $10 USD. I did like the 80s synthwave aesthetic. I wasn't a big fan of the music, but others may appreciate it more than I did. I think the climbing is pretty solid & responsive. You do have to swing jump yourself up in the air to reach some blocks. There is a lot of trial & error until you get a feel for the mechanic. There's also grappling hooks, rockets, ziplines, disappearing blocks, moving blocks, anti-gravity fields, bounce pads, red blocks that can kill you if you touch them, checkpoint blocks, etc. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps on the highest graphical setting. There is visual variety between the levels, so you're not always looking at the same thing. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs. You do have smooth or snap turning available. While you can play this game seated, it is much easier playing this standing due to the swing mechanic and being able to move to correct your trajectory in the air. I had fun playing this game. However, I only played around 25 levels. Definitely gets a lot more difficult the further you get. I was starting to sweat. Because I haven't even played half the levels though, I didn't feel comfortable calling this a full review or scoring the game, but I think it's a solid platformer (there are several in VR) and I do recommend it. Grid Leaper is a paid VR game where you are climbing, swinging or flying through an obstacle course. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has ok background music and you can mute it. Has a huge number of course to run. Has 22 steam achievements. Maybe buy this game, if you like obstacle courses. Great climbing/ jumping game. If you like climbing games then definitely give this one a try. Some things I have found so far that need work are: Left hand support in the main menu. There is a laser in the left hand but it doesn't do anything other than point. The developer says this is coming soon so that's great. You can quickly reset to the last checkpoint which is good for practising but there is no button to reset the whole level which would be nice for speed running. When resetting to the last checkpoint with the left thumbstick the moving blocks don't always reset leaving you stranded until you die. The pause menu doesn't follow you so when you pause you have to look for it if you have been physically turning your body while playing. My hand often goes right through blocks I'm trying to grab when I am going fast from flying or falling. Not sure if it is intentional but it sure is annoying. Sometimes when you fall you don't die and you have to manually reset. I initially experienced several more issues but they were fixed after verifying the files. If you try the game and are having issues try that first.

This game is stupid fun, I feel like I'm in Tron. The style is a weird mesh of the original's graphics, but with Legacy's line patterns. It runs well on the Oculus 1, both with and without a cord connected to the PC. Highly recommend the game if you have some patience; you'll be dying a bit as you learn the mechanics and overall feel of the gameplay, but man is it worth it. This is surprisingly immersive, has a great "one more level" hook, and I dig the 80s aesthetic and music. Expect to lose yourself for an hour while you try to beat your friends high score pretending it was your first try.

An enjoyable VR platformer. There are some well implemented platforming conventions: "Conveyor belt" blocks, trampoline platforms, grappling hooks, as well as some VR platforming mechanic like physical climbing and "rocket hand" navigation. A lot of the levels reminded me of Super Mario Bros (there's even some water levels). The mechanics feel good, with my biggest challenge being how to properly throw myself in order to "jump" some of the larger gaps between nodes, but I sucked at that with my old D-pad... why would VR be any different? I found myself saying "one more time" a lot.

Grid Leaper has everything I want in a game and nothing I didn't want. It's the perfect little indie game and I definitely recommend that you give it a shot. Here's my summary: • If you like climbing/swinging in VR, you will enjoy this game. • If you like synthwave music and neon 80's retro art, you will enjoy this game. • If you like a challenge and love the feeling of finishing a level after failing 20 times in a row, you will enjoy this game. • If you like chasing the high score on global leaderboards, you will enjoy this game. • If you like finding secrets and unlocking hidden levels, you will enjoy this game. The levels start off incredibly easy with plenty of save points, and the difficulty ramps up steadily from there. Before long you will find that you are comfortable making bigger leaps that seemed imposing at first. It never feels unfair, at least until you get to the nearly impossible levels at the very end (no one has completed Maestro or Gridmancer yet as of today, and the fact that their difficulty levels are listed as "LOL" and "Good Luck" should tell you something). For the more difficult levels, I recommend that you play standing with a decent sized play space around you to give yourself more room to reach out when your aim is just a bit off. My one gripe with the controls is that you can't snap turn more than about 15 degrees at a time, so instead I physically turn most of the time which occasionally means fighting with the headset cable. Otherwise, I have no complaints and I really enjoyed everything about this game.

very cool. reminds me of old CS jump/climb maps and mountain climbing. dev appears to be MIA though as there are a few unanswered questions in the forums. come back, you have a good base here.

Nice and "simple" VR platformer, I like it! Some later levels can get quite challenging... but I suppose thats kinda the point... Theres also a cool selection of synthwave music too, really adds to the vibe
