About
Gravebind is a classic isometric (2.5d) open world adventure RPG, while also planning to provide MMORPG and private multiplayer server modes, that will take you back to the 1990s, the golden age of gaming. If you are a fan of PC based RPGs of that era then you will likely fall in love with the nostalgia of this game. Enjoy a customizable character both visually and skillfully with an expanding set of skills to help aid you through a number of quests and exploration activities that the game has to offer in early access.
The story will take you through a medieval fantasy world that is approaching an apocalypse, blood moons send warning of coming evil and darkness. While trying to get away from the desolation of your own homeland you boarded a ship hoping to escape danger but instead storms at sea have forced your arrival in the mystical land known as Moonhaven; your destiny awaits you here! Arriving as just a stranger in this land you can progress through a series of quests that will gradually help you become the centerpiece in the story. Some quests will offer decision points and different ways to complete them that will affect future planned story parts.
One of the unique features Gravebind has to offer is the ability to customize various settings for your game world to adjust difficulty and offer greater re-playability. You can scale things like economics, quest difficulty, drop rates and we have plans to allow you to tailor the game play experience for how you may like to play an RPG.
Some of the other things we have planned for Gravebind are crafting, player customizable housing, 20 – 30 quests planned for this first chapter of the game with plans to offer purchasable game expansions for additional story and area of the game.
We plan to provide the private server multiplayer and public MMORPG open world server(s) for the game in the not to distant future once the single player mode features for the first chapter are complete, much of our development has been mindful of these modes and predeveloped to support them so that implementation will hopefully be quicker when the time comes.
We hope to provide you with regular game updates that will add features as we progress through the development of this game and we look forward to hearing your feedback as we add new features.

Okay, so I have a lot to say here based on the first hour so bear with me here. First, I picked up this game because I saw someone playing it and it was reminiscent of the old school RPGs I grew up playing and still love to this day. It gave me an immediate feeling of nostalgia and to a large degree it delivers on that consistently from startup all the way through. Having said that; there are some things that immediately jumped out at me that I think are worth mentioning. Before I begin though; I want to preface this by saying I DO think that if these types of RPGs appeal to you; you should try it. There are things that it delivers on and it stays true to what it's trying to be and you're either going to find yourself in the camp of "This is good and I enjoy it" or "I don't think this is for me." You aren't going to know until you play it for yourself. If nothing else, you have two hours to make your determination and if it doesn't fit you - you can refund it. The game deserves that chance and so does the developer who very clearly made this project as a labor of love with a clear vision. Presentation: One of the main things I wanted to mention, is the "Voice Acting" - I'm assuming it's AI here but I can't be absolutely certain so, I'll just say that it APPEARS to be, which to be clear I take no issue with. The reason I list this first on the list is because while some of it is passable; some of it is very off-putting. To the point that I would rather have read the lines of dialogue then listen to it. The inflection is wrong (As in when asking a question it sounds like a statement, and visa-versa) or it sounds incredibly disjointed, or even like it's multiple people talking through the same phrase. It makes you question the quality of an otherwise seemingly cared for game - which does the game an injustice. Some people will hear this and immediately think the quality of the game matches that of the VA and tune out. I almost did. Secondly, the animations for this game when considering the art and graphic-style are genuinely top-notch. Breaking objects like doors, barrels, crates etc -- will result in seeing the damage take place; along with debris flying off and scattering to the floor. The movement animations (walking, running, casting spells, swinging weapons, etc) are far better than I expected and are some of the best I've ever seen in a game of this type. I also personally love the art-style itself. As I said initially, it is reminiscent of early games like Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale and the OG PC games that surfaced around that time. If that's your thing - you'll be right at home with aesthetics of this game. It was clearly crafted with a lot of love. Controls: The controls are more or less what one would expect from a game of this nature and done through the use of the mouse. The only point of contention I have with that is that the direction of the screen/map cannot be changed or rotated, so when attacking or interacting with objects or people directly above you - it can be a nuisance. You'll find yourself trying to get the tip of the cursor just over your shoulder, or you'll need to move to engage with it at all. Given that the objects and characters are already small to begin with this can be inconvenient; and I play games like this on a 60" TV, I would imagine playing on a small monitor would be even worse. There are also no custom keybinds - which honestly, is pretty typical for games that are designed to follow in the footsteps of older RPGs. However; the game assigns keys to abilities and items in the order in which they are placed in the hotbar. If you move them, the assignment doesn't change, which personally drives me a little crazy. Not to mention the fact that they are automatically assigned to the F1 - F12 keys. To be entirely fair; it does say that they are going to be making alterations to that in the future - so there's a chance that custom keybinds, or this particular "issue" could be a complete non-issue anyhow. Difficulty: One of the best aspects of this game (At least for me) is the fact that it's founded on older RPG mechanics. If you don't have a skill for a certain thing - you can still do it but it's going to come with a penalty. You can only learn new skills at certain times and if you don't use those skills, they won't get better. Magic has an in-depth system and changes depending on what type of magic you are using. Your divine magic resource can only be restored by visiting a priest (Or other similar actions) and is finite; so you are encouraged to think about when you are casting it and to not be reckless. Character builds are completely open - if you want to build a magic wielding knight, you can do that. if you want to build a sword swinging wizard, you can do that too. You can even be a merchant. Be prepared to do your research though; if you don't pay attention to what you're building, you could find yourself in trouble and there's no do-overs. On top of all this there are survival mechanics. If you don't eat, you will eventually die; and prior to that you'll start getting penalties to things. The bones and direction of the game are absolute there - the developers clearly know what they are aiming for and on that front they have delivered. I personally, just think the game needs a bit more time to cook. This game is and is designed to be difficult. It doesn't hold your hand and it expects you figure things out on it's own. You are given a ten minute tutorial (And to it's credit, it is incredibly thorough) that walks you through the games systems, how to interact with them and what you can expect - and then you are expected to figure the rest out on your own. In my opinion, this is an absolute win. Having said that; many people won't agree. If you're looking for quest markers, lengthy onboarding or explanations for everything this isn't the game for you. Furthermore; if you wade into a situation unprepared you're in for a bad time and you're going to die - which result in you losing all of your gear unless you can return to it before it decays (At least after 20, prior to that you won't lose anything). Again, this difficult is going to appeal to certain people and others it's going to massively turn off. The game knows who it's audience is. Another thing the game has going for it is that you can tailor the settings of the world to you specifically. Whether that's more XP, or respawn rates for things, you can set things up to play in the kind of world you want to play in. You can give yourself more skill points after level up, or tune them so that you barely get any - and while you can absolutely tune certain aspects to make it easier, my previous statement of walking into unprepared situations still stands. Be prepared to die as you learn the game. Closing Arguments: Having said all of this, I think the game has a great direction, knows what it is and isn't and for certain people this is going to be an absolute gem when it's finished. I also think that some people are simply not going to like it - and that's okay. However; the fact that it pulls from iconic games successfully and leaves you feeling like you're accomplishing something when you make progress is an achievement by itself. I intend to continue playing it and I'm excited to see where it ends up and I believe that if it continues on the path that it's currently on, it's going to be a must have game for some people - maybe even an instant classic. The only way to know if this game suits you though; as I said earlier, is to try it. It really is one of those games that is either going to be exactly what you're hoping for, or something you don't want to touch with a 50 foot pole. There will be no in-between.
EULA makes it so you don't own what you purchase. Game is absolute ♥♥♥♥ at the moment. Trying to fix it buy changing all the useless, stupid programming makes the game crash. Do not buy. Useless, just like it's developers.
The game reminds me very much of old school retro feel with a skill system most likely inspired by ultima online and with its isometric style, gives it that iconic feel and nostalgia if you are an old school player. Just like the older generation of RPG games, this game will not hold your hands and is pretty much where you have to explore and find the quests in game. I've spent 10 hours in the game and I am currently still in the next town over from Dragonhead and slowly making progress with my skills. There are lots of skills to pick which equates to having to try different builds. Granted some of these skills I have not yet tested and do not know if they are fully completed but then again this is early access. I also like the fact that I can customise my experience based on my preference on difficulty and experience modifiers, Most recently the dev has added a sandbox mode, which is great for those who just want to do open exploration rather than story driven focus. Players have also asked (from the discussion forums) WASD movement and that has been added on recently as well, which for me, was a blessing as I am a WASD player rather than a point and move with mouse player. With the current discount, I feel this game is worth the purchase. It has a great deal of potential to develop into something special in the future. I do believe that multiplayer is planned at some stage and that is something that I am very much looking forward to. I also like how receptive, active and responsive the dev has been in the forums and this bodes well as the game can be shaped by the suggestions of the player base. Verdict: Diamond in the rough
A brutal yet beautiful throwback to the golden age of ’90s RPGs—dark, challenging, but the lack of lore and main story is frustrating. The game can become either a masterpiece or a complete failure, it all depends on what direction the further development will take. GOOD: ✔️Captures the spirit of classic ’90s RPGs ✔️Atmospheric dark fantasy world ✔️Old-school exploration and discovery ✔️No quest markers BAD: ❌There is no clear main story (quest chain) ❌Lack of lore ❌UI feels dated (in both good and bad ways) ❌Multiplayer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWbhstJR-hA
And don't forget to Subscribe to my Youtube

Join my Steam Group
I get that this game is going fully retro. I wish they'd use modern/standard ARPG controls though. I think that is the most frustrating thing for me at the moment. Also, a lot of terrain / buildings don't disappear when you go behind them, so you lose full sight of your character/NPC/enemies. That can be annoying too. Otherwise, I'm enjoying the game for what it is.
ultima vibes get rid of the AI garbage and this games gold

Love the freedom to develop my character and to forge my own way in this game. The controls are very easy to grasp and the story helps to lead you in discovering new things. Awesome game!
love the old school rpg feel, cant wait for the online side in the future.
