Explore and investigate the dimly lit halls of a nearly abandoned shopping mall in cyberpunk Hong Kong all while being stalked by a mysterious Yuan Gui, a malevolent spirit hell-bent on taking your soul. Good Night Pan Pan is a short 3rd person survival horror homage to Cantonese horror and culture!

Good game, I really like the premise and the design of the monster I also like the backstory of how the malevolent spirit, came to be It was quite frustrating trying to find items. It required a lot of note reading, though I will admit, I am lazy, and walls of text put me off immediately. All in all, I enjoyed it, and it's really good for a game made in 90 days
This is the Third game from the creator of SENSE: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story. While set in the same world, it does not carry the SENSE/S branding. I definitely found Good Night Pan Pan to be more enjoyable than Midnight. It is much faster-paced and has tighter, more relatable controls. Set in a claustrophobic basement Hong Kong shopping mall, it takes inspiration from a true HK crime story from 1999,as well as a HK horror-comedy film from 1986. Gameplay consists of standard survival horror fare, where you search for tools and items to facilitate your escape from the mall. There is no combat. Think of the first half of the SENSE, except in 3D, and you would be on the money. Also as in Sense, there is a healthy dose of Cantonese horror folklore here. The mall environment itself is claustrophobic but well-built, and captures the essence and creepiness of these type of tiny, windowless malls perfectly. Pan Pan is the only vengeful spirit in this game, which makes sense given the small accessible area this time around. Certain markers are set in place in the game to trigger an additional secret enemy appearing, but I shan't spoil it for anyone. GNPP isn't going to win any game awards or anything like that, but it is a short, sweet, and competent survival horror. Suzaku games is currently working on bug fixes and adding unlockable outfits in a future update. Definitely recommended for fans of the first game (the second one as well) and of Cantonese horror, especially at this price point.
Goodnight Pan Pan is a fun short little horror game that was made in just 90 days. Pros + Decent enemy design + Decent sound + OK Story + A little scary at times + Fun scripted scares Cons - A bit jank - At launch was quite buggy but now fixed - Sometimes hard to tell what to do/where to do - Stalker can pin you in dead ends a bit too easily Overall for a game made in a short space of time Good Night Pan Pan is a decent little game for a cheap price and well worth a nights spooks.
Short Answer: Their first game is one of the few I have ever completed 100%. Their second game is still awful. So, believe me when I say I am overjoyed at the direction this one is taking. It’s a lovely small game you can get 1-2 hours out of or a bit more if you’re like me and checking every little thing you come across. Worth the price for sure! Long Answer: After the abysmal disaster of their second game Midnight I was worried for both their next “big” game and this small one. I’m happy to say that very few of the awful design choices in Midnight are in this game. It is much closer to A Cyberpunk Ghost Story. With the biggest change being point 1. 1. Environmental Storytelling. One of the reasons Midnight is awful and Cyberpunk Ghost Story is wonderful is that the world you’re in is a character in and of itself. Where Midnight had a boring, uninspired, and empty “world” to run around in this game has depth and nods to a greater work from the very beginning. The world actually feels lived in again. The opening seen has the player in a office area with a shrine that will be used later. Several points of interest both with information and hints at things to come. As you walk out of the opening room you come across all sorts of symbolism and banter from the other guards. As you venture into the mall you find billboards, notes, items, and pictures that the main gal actually interacts with. One being about depression and cyber implant mental issues involving her dad though its not flung at you. The subtext is her father offed himself do to the side effects before it was a widely known problem. This speaks back to a theme in their first game of Tech and Spirits having both friction and synergy with each other depending on how they are interacting. Another is just a simple thought about her brother and how in a life or death situation she sees a toy he’d like and she thinks about getting it for him. She could be killed at any moment yet the idea of her brother smiling from this toy comes to the forefront of her mind. It speaks volumes about her and her mental state. Along with that there are a number of fliers, toys, billboards and references to the older games that imply so much more to the world that it makes you want to explore to see more despite the evil ghost trying to kill you. The world is interesting and filled with stuff you’d actually want to interact with like it was in A Cyberpunk Ghost Story. 2. Game Length. Though you will see I’m almost 4 hours into the game itself, having messed around trying stuff out for a while, the game length for most people will be just 1-2 hours long at the time of this review. It would make not only a good chillout game to play before bed but also a great little Streamer game. 3. The Pursuer. Panpan has an interesting design but she isn’t herself all that threatening. You can make Offering items in the game which distract her but I never used it. I made one just to see what would happen it really wasn’t worth it. She isn’t threatening enough to warrant using one of them and what the Offering does isn’t worth the MASSIVE inventory space it takes up. She either needs to be more threatening, the offerings need to be much more useful, or the offering needs to take up far less space. Given that Panpan is going to follow you and teleport around as you explore, because the world is worth exploring this time, I’d hope the Offering is made more powerful or smaller rather than Panpan made tougher. At least in the context of usefulness of the Offering. I will say her vision could be widened, not made farther, and it wouldn’t be that big of a deal. If you stay right behind her she can’t see you. If you’re standing right behind her I feel like she should be able to notice you. I was only scared once in the game and it was from a Panpan spawn that didn’t have the glowy purple aura. It was just the eyes coming for me. She might also be made more threatening if she doesn’t glow. The only glowing part of her being the eyes. 4. Lighting. This is one of the few big issues I have with the game. Not as much as with Midnight but its still off. There really seems to not be a purpose for the flashlight except for one hallway. You don’t really need it as the items you’d be searching for light up in blue flashes so whats the point of turning the light on and risking Panpan noticing you. 5. Story. The story, meaning the narrative not the environment, is a very simple one. This game was made in 90 days and is only 1-2 hours long so I didn’t expect a grand novel. Its got just enough there to follow but its not something I would right home about. However, given what this game is I would ask does it need to be? 6. Bugs, no game breaking ones! Yes, the game has a few bugs but the dev has been notified of them and is in the works to fix them. Only one required me to quickly go back to the main menu and reload a save that was just made. Everything was fine after that. All the other bugs are small issues like a bit of stuck text or a light not working right. 7. Final thoughts. While I’m still worried that their next game will be nothing but boring cornfields in the same way Midnight was empty boring zones with none of the wonderful environmental storytelling from their first game I’m far more confident now. This game, though small, is a step in the right direction for the series. I lament its all still in 3D and we don’t get the wonderful artwork, but if the quality of world building continues to improve like it did in this game I think it will turn out alright. I give Panpan a solid 7 out of 10. I was happy to play it. If you like indie games and or horror stuff thats not filled with jump scares then give this little game a shot.
spooky but you get to play as an epic sci fi hot babe
Pretty good game. The random scares are creepy without having to rely totally on jumpscares. https://youtu.be/8VsETcsVf-s
Good Night Pan Pan is a brief but tense horror game that does a great job with its atmosphere and ambience. The map can be pretty confusing, with a lot of back-and-forth fetching and dodging the monster, which can sometimes corner you in tight spots due to its odd AI behavior. The character is likable, but the setting doesn’t stand out much—it’s more about the mood. Still, considering it was made in just 90 days, it's a solid choice, especially if you grab it during a sale!
This is a really fun and simple horror game with much more creative scares than I even expected! The monster comes from the environment in really unique ways! As usual for SUZAKU Games, I think the most fun is from enjoying the art and environment, as well as the awesome details that you can find from zooming in at your surroundings! Bonus point for how cute the protagonist Li-Li is! Though of course expect some minor bugs here and there, especially in the interaction points being a bit jank sometimes (though these can be overcome if you finagle with the protag's angle a bit!) Overall, I think this is a really fun horror experience that is both thrilling and fun! I think SUZAKU Games could do really well making a bunch of small, short-format, self-contained horror games Chilla's Art style! I look forward to the next release, and more games with beautiful art and designs in them!
Great horror puzzle game only problem i had was getting stuck in/behind a door (and the screwdriver i was just guessing)
Short but decent. A bit difficult to play since opening the inventory doesn't pause enemy movement, so you do have to plan ahead or be VERY fast in navigating your inventory. Stamina bar is VERY small so use it carefully. Only other criticism I have really is the use of the word "Discard" when you manage your inventory, which normally means throwing something away and losing the item. In this game it acts like a "Drop Item" button. So if you need to put something down to pick up a key item like the bolt cutters, you can safely do so with the "Discard" button. I wound up getting briefly stuck because it wasn't super clear, but once I risked throwing away health items, and saw them on the ground, that's when I figured it out. Tip: A good place to discard your items is the security office, as the ghosts can't attack you in there.
