Played like 10 hours of the demo, great game to make your friends mad. A+ dev as well, we encountered some bugs so one of our group contacted him on discord and he literally made a patch the next day. This is a game, and a dev you should supprot!
I was genuinely excited for this game because the core idea is great. Somehow, though, almost every part of it feels like it was shoved out the door half-finished. The maps feel poorly designed, the actual ball-hitting feels clunky, and the content is laughably thin. There are only four maps, which would already be rough, but the real joke is that the courses barely feel different from each other. Some holes are straight-up identical, sometimes even within the same map. The only real “variety” seems to be a background swap and some different ambience, as if that magically turns recycled layouts into new content. It is a good concept buried under lazy execution. For a game built around mini-golf, it is honestly impressive how little care seems to have gone into the courses or the feel of playing them. Great idea, poor execution.
Golf with your Friends meets Ultimate Chicken Horse in the best way possible. 10/10
Golf Gambit is a playful and chaotic reinterpretation of miniature golf that leans heavily into social competition, unpredictability, and emergent comedy. Developed by KB Entertainment and published by Tiny Dragon, the game takes the familiar goal of sinking a ball in as few strokes as possible and turns it into a lively multiplayer spectacle where planning a perfect shot is only half the battle. The other half is navigating — or deliberately causing — mayhem as traps, hazards, and player interference constantly reshape the course. At its foundation, Golf Gambit retains the approachable physics and readability that make mini golf broadly appealing. Shots feel responsive and easy to understand, with enough weight and consistency that players can quickly judge power and angle without wrestling with overly realistic simulation. This accessibility ensures that new players can jump in and contribute immediately, while more experienced players can still refine their touch and line up clever bank shots. The core mechanics are simple by design, but they provide a solid base for the game’s more inventive systems to build upon. Where Golf Gambit truly distinguishes itself is in its trap-driven gameplay. Instead of static courses that remain unchanged throughout a round, players gain access to a variety of interactive hazards that can be deployed dynamically. These traps can redirect balls, obstruct paths, or outright sabotage an opponent’s carefully planned stroke. The result is a constant push-and-pull between precision and disruption, where timing and awareness are just as important as aim. Each hole becomes a small tactical puzzle shaped not only by terrain, but by the personalities and decisions of the players involved. Course design complements this philosophy well. The maps balance traditional mini golf layouts with exaggerated elements that invite experimentation and chaos. Slopes, moving parts, environmental effects, and trap placement zones encourage creative solutions rather than rigid optimization. Even familiar-looking holes can play out very differently from one round to the next, depending on which traps are active and how aggressively players use them. This variability gives the game a strong sense of replayability, especially in group settings. Multiplayer is clearly the heart of the experience. Matches with friends or online opponents transform Golf Gambit into a party game, where laughter and frustration coexist in equal measure. Up to several players can compete in a single match, and the social dynamic often matters more than pure skill. A well-timed trap can swing a round dramatically, creating memorable moments that linger long after the scorecard is forgotten. For players who prefer a calmer experience, optional settings allow the chaos to be toned down or disabled entirely, letting the game function as a more traditional mini golf title. Single-player play serves primarily as a training ground and a space for experimentation. It allows players to learn course layouts, understand trap behaviors, and practice shot physics without pressure. While it lacks the unpredictability and energy of multiplayer, it provides a useful foundation that makes competitive matches more enjoyable and less overwhelming, particularly for newcomers. Visually, Golf Gambit embraces a bright, stylized aesthetic that supports its playful tone. Courses are colorful and easy to read, even when multiple effects and hazards are active at once. The presentation prioritizes clarity, ensuring that players can quickly understand what’s happening despite the chaos. Sound design reinforces this approach, with clear audio cues for shots, impacts, and trap activations that help players react in real time. As a game designed around social interaction and evolving content, Golf Gambit’s longevity depends largely on variety and community engagement. Repetition can creep in after extended play, especially if sessions rely on the same course rotations or trap selections. However, the game’s design leaves ample room for expansion, and its focus on player-driven moments means that even familiar holes can feel fresh when played with different groups or playstyles. Overall, Golf Gambit succeeds as a spirited blend of mini golf and party-game mischief. It doesn’t aim to be a deep sports simulation, nor does it try to replace traditional golf games. Instead, it thrives as a social experience where clever shots, bold sabotage, and shared laughter define success more than perfect scores. For players looking for a competitive yet lighthearted multiplayer game that turns a calm pastime into controlled chaos, Golf Gambit offers a distinctive and entertaining spin on the genre.
