As somebody who loved the comics... this game is an incredible adaptation. Very faithful to the story, while also being a legitimately fun and well designed experience. Didn't know what to expect, was pleasantly surprised!
If you're a fan of the comic, it's a great (if buggy) puzzle platformer that drops you right into one of the most memorable stories in the series. The puzzles are challenging, while the combat isn't too difficult. Some portions can be maddeningly frustrating; don't get me started on the annoying "propeller clank flight" sequences. However, if you can get through those, it can be fun waste of a few hours. While the game is short, the collectables were fun to find and help flesh out the copious world-building of the comic. If you're NOT a fan of the comic, there's a LOT of lore that will be completely lost on you. You can "purchase" in-game copies of some of the prose novels spawned by the comic, but by the time you unlock those, you might be lost. While funny and charming when you know the history and background of the characters, you might struggle to keep track of who's who if you don't have that bedrock to build on. I played this first on the Nintendo Switch, then the Steam Deck. Both versions were playable but buggy. Annoyingly, the game fatally crashed on the Switch when I was close to 90% done with the story, corrupting and "losing" my save game and forcing me to start over. After a considerable "break", I bought it again on the Steam Deck, hoping that version would be more stable (and to funnel more dollars to the Foglios). Maybe the bugs were worked out in a later update or the Steam Deck is a more capable handheld, but it seemed to run better there. I didn't encounter any game-breaking bugs, but I did get "stuck" a time or two, forcing me to reload a prior save. In other words, SAVE OFTEN.
A fun 3D puzzle-platformer! I'm a big fan of the story and being able to play thru it has been a delight. The Camera angles are a bit tricky at times, but the graphics and gameplay capture the zany vibe of the Girl Genius world! Also, if you play enough, you can unlock the graphic novels in-game! For the fans of puzzle platformers and of steampunk/gaslight fantasy settings.
I bought this game primarily to throw some money in the general direction of the Foglios, whose web comic I've enjoyed for like 20 years now. The game retells the part of the story where Agatha retakes Castle Heterodyne, lovingly rendered in 3D. The gameplay is at best, perfectly adequate, as long as you don't make the mistake of playing on the Hard difficulty.
This is a surprisingly enjoyable game. Got it because I love the webcomic, but its good on its own. This is an old style game though. Aside from old graphics you'll need sharp reflexed to win unforgiving boss battles (at least on Hard difficulty) and puzzles are sometimes maddening. Btw there are very few manuals with walkthroughs on the Internet so you will have to figure out most stuff on your own :).
Great fun! Lots of Easter eggs in the paintings and such, fun lore bits scattered around that are not plot relevant, but are very funny. Controls are helpfully explained in your menu, which you can recheck any time. Easy to maneuver usually. Can be slightly tricky to line yourself up right to hit the enemies if you are moving fast.
i hope they make another game!
XUnity.AutoTranslator-ReiPatcheで日本語に自動翻訳が可能。キャラの台詞はキーかボタンを押すまで消えないので翻訳しやすいのですが、Google翻訳だと意味不明になる事が多いです。
The gameplay is Ocarina of time but with better puzzles and one big dungeon, also, no water temple. The story I don't need to cover because if you've arrived here you already know it.
A little janky in places, but full of charm I enjoyed it, but as a long time fan of the comic, I realise that I'm a bit biased
