Ghost of Tomorrow is a horror walking sim taking place mostly in an apartment. The story revolves around Amanda who you control. There are some weird, paranormal activities going on in her place after which you notice a significant amount of time has passed. I do not want to spoil the story but let's just say referring to the game as a time-travelling experience is very much spot-on. The game also looks very nice, very detailed. I particularly liked when we interacted with our smartphone to check the personal messages coming via Messenger. Since this is labelled as chapter 1 the story remains unfinished after 30 minutes' of playtime. But it is still an enjoyable experience. Oh, and the big HDTV showing the match in the living room is one of the best (most realistic) displays I have seen in a video game. This is how you make people believe they are actually in a real apartment. It's a shame the project was left unfinished as no further episodes have been released since. Ed Lioni has another title but that is still labelled as "coming soon" on Steam. Both Kickstarter projects, I assume. Still, if you have some spare time it's worth checking out. The only issue I had with the game was that after the credits rolled clicking on "quit" only took me to a site where you can donate some money. It doesn't close the application, though.
Before I played Ghost of Tomorrow: Chapter 1, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
I don't like leaving negative reviews, especially for games that probably won't have a sequel, and this first chapter was released almost 4 years ago now. But I'm writing this comment because this game has disappointed me. Ghost of Tomorrow has a very good concept at its core, but it has been executed superficially and with a narrative that feels déjà vu. The problem isn't that it's a Walking Sim with poorly functional jump-scares; there are several games that don't require real interactions yet manage to be scary and induce anxiety. The fundamental issue with this game is the narrative: the story is told only through papers and posters scattered around the various rooms of the game. You understand that the protagonist you play as is dead or will die soon, and through scattered notes on the map, you see the development of the family situation and how various family members react to this event. The notes are written with an overly general narrative, and the problems that arise are old clichés now overused: a Christian and devout mother, a younger brother who starts using drugs, a father who returns to alcohol abuse. Things already seen and heard in countless other versions. The protagonist, moreover, has no reaction to all these events, except for some thought lines displayed on the screen to move to a new part of the game. Unfortunately, on a personal level, I always lean towards the school of thought that says "Show, don't tell," and in a video game, this should be more than feasible. The gameplay, or what little there is, does not improve the situation at all. For example, you find yourself facing a long corridor with small and uninspiring jump-scares and have to open all the doors of this corridor to get a taste of what is happening and make the player understand the experience that the protagonist is going through. When being a little attentive, it was quite clear what was happening; even the title of the game itself is explanatory enough. Towards the end, it becomes a small escape room where you have to find keys, a type of gameplay that had not been considered by the game until that moment. In essence, this first chapter of Ghost of Tomorrow is, I'm sorry to say, a bad game. It's not a buggy game, it's not a game that doesn't work; it does everything it needs to do, but unfortunately, it does so with great mediocrity and an anticlimatic pacing. I hope that if the author revisits this project one day, now after several years, they can bring improvements to a potential second chapter. Because truly, the underlying idea is super interesting, and it's a shame that the first chapter didn't turn out better than it did.
Basically it's a screensaver. You get in a car... drive... it gets to a city... you drive through clipped assets... all the while the radio screeches at you. No keys work, you can't escape out. Fun. Once you get passed the poor programming that prevents you from quitting, you end up having to walk, walk, walk through almost endless doors while the occasional jump scare hits. Find 4 keys and game over... then you can force quit the game.
Jooa.. Wie Jedes 0815 horror game
