There was a Ghost (multiple). There was a moon (also multiple). I'm not too sure about the High Noon part but it was cool. This can be confirmed to be a video game! 7 High Noons / 10 Ghost Moons

This is a fantastic game, especially when you consider that it was made by such a small developer. FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC art style and music. Movement is smooth, even down to NPCs walking around the town and throwing the lasso. Music fits the mood extremely well, and the overall message behind the objectives in the game is beautiful. Writing was also very well done to give everyone a sense of personality. 10/10 would recommend.

Stumbled across Ghost Moon High Noon by chance, the game's concept sounded pretty freaking awesome to me, I had to give it a try. It ended up being such a pleasant surprise! I don't usually write reviews longer than three sentences, but I compiled all my thoughts here: Art & Story: The art style was the first thing that caught my eye! I saw the screenshots showing off the character sprites, and it's pretty much what ultimately convinced me to give the game a try. Valentina and the many ghost bosses she faces are wonderfully designed, so kudos to whoever was in charge of that. I also really liked the little stylistic taglines at the start of each boss that built up some hype ("LAY DOWN THE LAW", "CLOSE OUT YOUR TAB", etc.) There was only really one song looping in the background throughout the game, but it fits the spooky, western vibe of the game so perfectly that I have no complaints about it. The game also isn't exactly plot or dialogue-heavy, but I liked the concept with helping the townspeople' loved ones pass on into the afterlife, and how it all ties in at the end with
Val having to confront a ghost from her own past.
Gameplay: The gameplay was the best part of the game! Shooting and having the ghost bullets fly back to you, phasing through obstacles put a cool twist on it. The Ricochet mechanic was definitely my favorite part though, I liked that there were situations where you couldn't just shoot bullets wildly, you had to think creatively with how you shot them. Each boss all had their own unique mechanic to them that made each boss fresh and fun to fight against, some of them even being in line with the ghost's character, which I thought was neat. The Full Moon bosses were pretty good too, but it would've been cooler if they also had their own unique phase instead of just being a repeat of the last three bosses. Though what I loved the most was the Duel mechanic unique to them, which gave me goosebumps the first time it happened because of the sheer coolness of it all. Lots of the puzzles were really fun, with some platforming elements here and there. They make really good use of utilizing all three main mechanics (Ricochet, Lasso, Phase). But there were also some moments where I was left stumped for a bit on how to proceed since it wasn't always clear on where to go or what to do next. (but at some points this might have just been a skill issue lol) I also had some minor gripes like being softlocked in the middle of a level about once or twice, so I wish there was an option to restart from the beginning of a level completely, instead of reloading at the last position you were. It still didn't stop me from enjoying the rest of the game though! If you randomly come across this game like I did and see this review, I definitely recommend giving the game a try! It's about 2-3 hours of playtime and really good quality for a free game published by a small dev team
i took twenty eight laxatives before i played this game to get through it faster. my pants weren't brown before but they sure are now
Wow. It's high noon big daddy
"Ghost Moon High Noon" is an unusual but apparently genuinely made indie/amateur console-like top down shooter where you control a "half-ghost" character and do bounty hunting against rogue souls. But there's a lot going on here which adds a little bit of value where most indie/amateur made games are lacking. What do you do in the game? There's a bunch of different activities from puzzle solving (there's even a lassoo that you can use to move boxes around... but this is no Portal), shooting of course, and platforming. There's also a bullet richocet and "ghosting" mechanism (well, you are a half-ghost after all) that leads to interesting trick shots. This looks a lot like it was designed for consoles, but released on Steam instead by mistake. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this never made it to the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. On the important subject of visuals, this features fairly low quality stylised/cartoony low poly 3D graphics. It comes across as the kind of thing you see on mobile phones and Nintendo games, which will deter a lot of PC gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and to be considered one of the best games on Steam, the graphics have to be some of the best on Steam. That's not happening here. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. Most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's usually some kind of monetisation, from nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, to any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 7 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this. I'm frankly surprised that this only got 7 concurrent players, and I hope the developer can go on to work for a real game development company that can make full use of their talent.
