Got it from a bundle and honestly in it's current state it's not worth playing. There is no ingame tutorial so you don't know what some stuff do (Antimatter i got no clue on) There is nothing ingame that says what you are supposed to do and minimap is awful as it is so small, you need to just go in a random direction and hope something of value can be found, would be good if an upgrade pointed to the next big egg location/challenge spire etc. Upgrades are tied to character so all 4 you start fresh on, really could have done with a weaker global upgrade as well, so you got a boost on the next one you try on and all 4 currently in game help each other out. There are supposedly difficulty modifiers and you can always disable these upgrades yourself if it feels to easy. Willing to give it a chance if it gets properly finished, but have been a long time since last update so unlikely sadly.
i enjoyed going for the achievements :)
Thumbs down

Genesis Survivors from Aeternum Game Studios S.L steps into the crowded survivor-like space with a clear intention: take the familiar auto-shooter formula and inject it with a heavier sci-fi identity and a bit more mechanical nuance. Set against a futuristic backdrop where pilots control combat-ready mechs to fend off alien swarms, the game blends the genre’s signature chaos with a slightly more structured approach to builds and battlefield interaction. It doesn’t radically redefine the formula, but it does try to push it in a direction that feels more system-driven and customizable. The foundation is immediately recognizable. Players guide a mech through increasingly dense waves of enemies while weapons fire automatically, shifting the focus almost entirely onto positioning, timing, and survival instincts. Where Genesis Survivors begins to differentiate itself is through its roster of pilots and mech configurations, each bringing distinct passive bonuses and active abilities into a run. This adds a layer of identity to each playthrough, encouraging experimentation with different setups that can favor aggression, sustain, or efficiency. As runs progress, players stack upgrades that evolve their weaponry and abilities, creating builds that can feel powerful when the right synergies come together. Combat is fast and often visually intense, leaning into the genre’s hallmark of overwhelming odds and constant movement. Enemy variety and boss encounters help maintain a sense of escalation, while environmental elements—such as destructible objects and terrain features—add a subtle layer of tactical consideration. Unlike completely open arenas, these elements can influence how players kite enemies or carve out safe paths, giving the battlefield a bit more personality. When everything clicks, the game delivers that satisfying loop of narrowly surviving chaos while watching your build grow into something capable of clearing entire swarms. However, the same visual intensity that fuels its excitement can also become one of its biggest drawbacks. As upgrades stack and effects multiply, the screen often fills with overlapping animations and particle effects, making it difficult to track incoming threats or even distinguish enemies clearly. This can lead to moments where failure feels less like a strategic mistake and more like a consequence of visual overload. For a genre that relies heavily on player awareness, this lack of clarity occasionally undermines the otherwise solid combat design. Progression sits in a somewhat uneven place. While there are unlocks, upgrades, and multiple characters to experiment with, the sense of long-term advancement can feel inconsistent. Some upgrades offer noticeable improvements, while others feel less impactful, creating a progression curve that doesn’t always maintain momentum. Over time, the repetition of maps and objectives can also begin to wear thin, especially for players who are already familiar with other titles in the genre that offer more variety or more refined progression systems. It’s also clear that the game carries the hallmarks of an evolving project. Certain systems feel underdeveloped, and the overall experience occasionally lacks the polish expected from more established entries in the genre. There is a sense that the foundation is strong but not yet fully realized, with room for additional content, better balancing, and improved interface clarity. For players who enjoy following a game’s growth over time, this may be part of the appeal, but those looking for a fully complete and finely tuned experience may find it lacking in its current state. Even with these shortcomings, Genesis Survivors remains engaging in short bursts. Its core loop is inherently satisfying, and the combination of mech-based combat and build experimentation provides enough variety to keep runs interesting for a while. The game’s strength lies in its ability to deliver those moments where everything aligns—your build is optimized, enemies fall in waves, and survival feels earned rather than given. In the end, Genesis Survivors is a promising but imperfect entry in the survivor-like genre. It brings enough new ideas to stand out, particularly in its use of pilots, mech customization, and environmental interaction, but it struggles with clarity, pacing, and overall cohesion. With further refinement and expanded content, it has the potential to become something more substantial, but as it stands, it is best enjoyed as a solid, evolving experience rather than a definitive one. Rating: 7/10
