9/10 An update to my original review: The devs are legends. The initial review was negative because there was an achievement (the last one for me) that was locked out if you didn't do specific things in the desert temple before leaving. However, after I posted about it, overnight, the devs fixed this issue by adding in enough gem sources throughout the rest that it resolved the issue. Bravo! Very impressive work. Now, for the real review. If you like Breath of the Wild, puzzles, and cute things this game is for you. It presents simple, yet challenging puzzles that make you think a little bit. You get to control an adorable lil' guy and yes I spammed his "honking" noise constantly at things. The sailing is a bit slow, but it does take me back to some Wind Waker with the vibes. The story is fun and interesting and the updates keep adding on, making it even better. The controls are the only thing I can knock a point off for. There are certain sections where if you are trying to say, climb through a hole in a roof, your Gecko may just launch himself off the face of the Earth instead of just going through it. I don't know if this is due to using a controller or camera angles. Not sure, but it wasn't something that ruined the game whatsoever. Overall, I recommend this game, especially since the devs clearly love it and the players which is a breath of fresh air.
You are a stupid little gecko and you run around some fun little islands eating bugs and exploring stuff. It's simple, but it's fun. It reminds me of childhood collectathons.
top gecko
Increadably cozy, love the walking animation. Perfect for first time gamers or for someone looking for a game that never punishes the player.
Absolutely wonderful game! Playing this helped reduce my anxiety and feels like a go-to game for a nice, chill, puzzle-solving time.
i'm so chill now!
It's a really simple and relaxing game. It looks good and barring a few points where the movement feels weird, it's extremely fun to play.
This was an absolute delight. From the collectibles, to the puzzles, to the open world traveling, down to the tiny pitter patter of gecko feet scurrying, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't even found all the hidden items yet, but I'm close. Overall, the trailer on tiktok lived up to the hype and I'm so happy I got this to try!
the exploration and puzzles are really good, there are a few bugs near the end and the controls can be a bit wonky but it doesnt detract too much from the game probably like 7-8/10 I found it enjoyable to watch but lacking in quite a few areas, it's a nice game to play with your kid and I'd heartily recommend it for that, it has its issues but it's overall a fun little exploration game.
One of the worst final stretches in gaming History, I reckon, coming from hours of a relaxed exploration, and morphing into a deadly maze without checkpoints, then, while you're expelling your sigh of relief at last, upping the ignominious ante into a bloody deadly (and glitchy) race in said maze, with the exploration and entertainment values of a corporate board meeting. But since it amounts to, maybe, 5% of the game, it still earns its otherwise easy recommendation. With a warning to finish everything else before entering the volcano, so as to be able to quit without regrets. The main appeal of the game for me is the fact that you can climb everywhere; an unusual constraint on level design. Nicely executed, in my view, with a couple of accesses pretty hard to figure out in an otherwise rather easy progression. A bit disappointed, though, that the camera didn't receive more love and polish, seeing that it's such an essential feature. Too often too close, or even inside the avatar, for a total lack of environmental visibility. Still, when you can see, it all looks great. And the gecko is a pleasure to handle; little effects and sounds included.
