A pretty decent puzzle game, i liked the artwork but i hated the character :( for me the legs dont look right and it stands out compared to how well the rest of the game looks. This will appeal to players of puzzle games more than platformers. Pick up in sale Heres my First look at the game https://www.twitch.tv/videos/309848817
“Gates of Horn and Ivory(角与象牙之门)”是一种用来区分真假的文学形象,这个短语起源于希腊语,其中“horn(号角)”一词与“fulfil(达到)”相似,“ivory(象牙)”一词与“deceive(欺骗)”相似。
This is a Platventure with a focus on puzzle and traversal; there is no combat to be found. You wander a cool, desolate, moon-like expanse, gathering colored flames; collect all of a color and bring it back to its monolith (also used for fast travel), and you'll unlock a new ability. Platforming is mostly solid (a little janky at times, unless I was glitch-bruteforcing some of the solutions and didn't realize it), and most of the puzzles are pretty reasonable to solve. The story is pretty interesting, too, even if I figured out where the "true" ending was going as soon as the choice was presented. The music is largely atmospheric, but it does its job very well. The game has only one major flaw, and that's that choosing an ending, or entering the very rare fail state ends your game and auto-saves, so if you want to see the other ending, or take another run at the true ending, you have to start the game from the beginning, and that really sucks, but at least it's short. Still definitely worth checking out, if you like the surreal, atmospheric stuff.
Review text snippet from upcoming errori.net ------------------------------------------------ Hyvää Mukava tuntuma, älyttömän vaikea päästää ohjaimesta irti ja pelin juoni ja metafyysinen pohdinta jäävät kummittelemaan. Speedrun-painotus on hauska lisä ja tekee muuten itsekseen pelattavasta pelistä yhteisöllisen kokemuksen. Pulmat ja sokkelot on, pardonnez mon anglais, helvetin hyvin suunniteltu. Huonoa Läppäri jumitti joissain kohdissa (sumuhuone tulee mieleen), joten esimerkiksi tuon ja parin muun teholtaan raskaamman kohdan optimoinnin olisi voinut toteuttaa paremmin.
An interesting game where you try to find the meaning of it all by jumping, traversing an edge-wrapping map and collecting powers to get to the end. The puzzles aren't always easy and mostly not obvious. You can finish the game without collecting everything and there are several endings, so be wary when and how you finish it. Will keep you entertained for at least a couple of playthroughs and then there's the speedrun mode where you can see who's the fastest of them all. The graphics are kind of minimalistic and that's a good thing. It fits the theme, and the music and sounds are well made to create atmosphere. Definitely worth a play.
Gates of Horn and Ivory is a great indie game with an interesting atmosphere and challenging puzzles. The first ending is encountered after a relatively short play through, but the other ending(s) (presumably) take longer due to the vast amount of collectibles there are in the game. It doesn't feel like a burden to play through it again, but more like a second chance. A good, solid experience that challenges all from regular players to speed runners.

A decent, slightly overpriced puzzle platformer with a few minor problems. Most puzzles are nice, but some of them require reading a hint sign nearby, which kind of defeats the purpose of a puzzle. Some switches show you the location of the actuated object, but only once, so if you missed the location of that door opening, you're on your own. The controls are typical (double jump, wall climb) but sadly not very precise. The collider of the player model is not quite where you might expect. Sometimes you get stuck on the ledge of the platform you were trying to jump on, and will have to fall down and try again, possibly having to retrace your steps to reach the same location again. The game map has a very interesting and fun topology, but it's sometimes hard to tell where the edges of the screens are in the world map. A grid in the map would help a long way in determining the route you want to take. The player will spend a lot of time consulting the map but unfortunately there isn't much help in navigating it. The next objective is marked clearly, but it's really not much of a help in such a labyrinth. The player will stumble on it eventually even without the marker. The story feels very detached from actual gameplay. It helps set the mood and atmosphere, but is not at all necessary. The player will stumble upon story items which don't really serve a purpose. They could be used as navigation aids, but sadly aren't marked on the map. I wouldn't pay the full price (12.49 € as of writing) for this, but for a price somewhere between 5 to 8 euros I could see myself supporting this indie developer.
