About
Hi I'm Micky Monkey Business and you're looking at Game Over! In this musical RPG (which actually stands for Rhythm Playing Game now) you get to see what happens after the credits roll! What do the henchman do when there's nothing left to hench? And what of our heroes, who rendered the weapons industry useless after slaying all the baddies? And the uh,
I'll be honest there's a lot I'm leaving out. It's one of those games where you're better off playing it knowing as little as possible. You can trust me, I didn't make the game, I'm Micky Monkey Business, an independent third-party adviser!
An adventure RPG with musical characters, moral choices and multiple endings!
Music based puzzles and platforming!
Great rhythm based enemy encounters with no repeats!
Enjoy a world where all music is diegetic!
Learn what diegetic means!
Difficulty options ranging from Hard to Nigel Mode (my Dad (named Nigel (by his parents))) didn't like losing video games, so you'll never lose in Nigel Mode!
Arguably funny!
Created by just one developer over a period of 8 long years!

This game is absolutely fantastic. If you're remotely into rhythm games and games that are like Undertale or Earthbound, definitely give it a shot. It's very much worth it. I'd even call it a hidden gem for now.
This game is definitely very fun and you can tell there was a lot of love put into it. I enjoyed playing it and streaming it for my twitch community. The only thing I'll say somewhat negatively is that it just felt too long. I'm someone with a music background myself so I was really driven to do well on the musical "guitar-hero" parts, but towards the end I felt like it was dragging on and even the "less hard" difficulty setting was still hard where I could have ended up needing to spend several more hours playing to get them well enough to pass the level. I ended up just letting it auto-play towards the end and was looking forward to the game being finished. I think this game could have achieved the same thing if it was just a bit shorter and maybe had 1 more easier difficult setting between "less hard" and auto play.
Game Over - A Musical RPG?? is a thythem adventure that blends classic RPG beats with actual musical ones — think instruments, rhythm, and a lot of meta jokes. It wears its retro influences on its sleeve, then riffs on them with theatrical flair. Pros ✔️ Solid musical gameplay – It’s no Guitar Hero, but the music-based mechanics do work and feel woven into the story. ✔️ Great character theming – The way each character and enemy ties into musical genres is clever and adds flavor. ✔️ Legit funny – The humor hits more often than not, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously — in a good way. Cons ❌ Art style doesn’t quite pop – It’s functional and fits the theme, but it doesn’t really stand out. ❌ Awkward key mapping – Translating music notes to keyboard keys just never felt natural in the way they made it. ❌ Weak controller support – Not the end of the world, but it makes chill gameplay harder than it should be. Conclusion I had a good time with it — enough to hum along and appreciate the fun it was clearly having with itself. But I’ll admit, I’m feeling a little genre fatigue. These retro-styled, wink-at-the-camera games are everywhere now, and while this one does it better than most, I found myself more nostalgic for the games that inspired it than pulled to keep playing. Still, it earns its place in the lineup. Score: 8/10 Missed Notes — A strong solo act in an overcrowded genre concert.
I'm a massive fan of this game, from the sense of humour to the incredible music, the fun game-play, and the surprisingly deep writing. absolute highly recommend! My Video Review: https://youtu.be/CHASF6uWE2Q
This is such a fun and charming game! I'm making my friend play it for me because she's a music nerd and I don't have a single rhythmic bone in my body, and there's so much love put into all of the music references. It's also hilarious, both in the music battles and the regular dialogue.
《Game Over - A Musical RPG??》是由Jake Houston制作发行的一款以“音乐”为核心元素的喜剧向RPG。
This game is incredibly difficult. I spent ~3 hours only to beat Mewg (an early encounter) on 'less hard,' but I knew that when I bought the game because I played the demo and spent 2+ hours to beat the brass guy. RIP Froggy<3 I love this game for the attention to detail, the story, and the very catchy and thematically accurate music.
This type of game seems to be quite rare. Music puzzle-solving combined with various music game modes. At least in this game, I saw an outstanding performance. Apart from being not very friendly to beginners, the content is impeccable. I hope the development team can create more games of the same type. Good luck to you!
