About
All the world's a stage, yet homeward lies the heart.
This story is purely fictional. Any resemblance to reality—
may not be coincidence, but rather a reflection of choices we’ve all faced at similar crossroads in our lives.
Protagonist is an interactive game about anti-conditioning, portraying a theatrical journey of pretense and self-redemption. The script is written by the system, but the ending is determined by your own principles.
Campus performance mixed with light suspense forms the core of this story. It focuses on real-world growth, breaking away from conventional romance-driven storytelling.
It is, above all, a documentary poem dedicated to every young person struggling between ideals and reality.
The game revolves entirely around performance. It is about acting—but not only about acting.
It is also about pretense, but ultimately about—how to preserve a sliver of authenticity in a life where pretense is unavoidable.

Welcome to the Master Class of Jinglin Academy of Performing Arts.
Known as the "Whampoa Military Academy of Stardom," it is the stairway to glory countless dreamers long to ascend. But remember—the spotlight never illuminates the truth; it only casts shadows.
In this game, you will step into the role of "Lusheng," the one who enters the game. The moment you cross the school gate, you are no longer a spectator. You become part of the stage. Everyone here is playing a role—including you yourself. Their smiles are part of the script. Their tears are rehearsed. Their embraces may be setup for the next act.
Always remember:
Every word they speak is dialogue. Every tear they shed is a prop. Every look they give you is waiting for your response.
The system is watching you. It does not speak, but it records. It records whether you applaud at the right moment, whether you cry on cue, whether you reveal your true self during "improvisation."
The rules are conditioning you. There are penalties for lateness and penalties for early departure. But the most severe punishment is this—you forget you are acting.
If you start believing they love you, if you start feeling you belong here, if you look in the mirror late at night and no longer recognize your own expression…
Then you have already fallen into the trap. Beneath the trap is not a stage, nor an escape route—it is the abyss. You must stay vigilant amidst the lies. Hear the truth between the lines of dialogue. Find, within the margins of the script, the self that has yet to be assigned a role.
Welcome, freshman.
Please take your script.

Deep Role-Playing: Maintain multiple facades. Play different personas in front of different characters. Be humble before mentors, ambitious before capitalists, sincere before lovers—your "acting" determines your ending.
High-Density Dramatic Choices: Hundreds of key decisions, from moral dilemmas to emotional gambits. Every click reshapes the direction of the story.
Cinematic Interactive Performance: Fully live-action filmed with a professional cast. Camera language, lighting choreography, and performance details all reach cinematic standards, immersing you completely "in character."

Xia Meng (The Dangerous Muse): A producer at the top of the pyramid. Is what she offers a shortcut—or the abyss?
Cheng Jin (The Guiding Senior): Your undercover partner. Can you pass her tests and earn her trust?
Lin Ranran (The Pure Camellia): A microcosm of struggle within the system. Will you become her light—or push her deeper into darkness?
Zhou Ruonan (The Barbed Rose): Your classmate. Is her bullying pure malice—or does it serve another purpose?
Yan Zhi (The Caged Gardener): Your mentor. Is she the ladder that helps you reach the top—or the nail that pins you to the rules?
Gu Ying (The Fading Ember of Idealism): Your director. Will you be her redemption in despair—or become part of the reality that crushes her?
Tang Zhi (The Lost Star): A former child star who once shone bright. Her insecurity is an opening—her lingering innocence may become the sharpest test of your conscience.

Butterfly Effect System: A seemingly insignificant line of dialogue early on may trigger a fatal crisis in Chapter 3. Affection, trust, and secret clues intertwine, weaving a unique narrative web.
Multiple Endings: From "The Truth Revealed" to "Complicity," from "Lone Hero" to "Lost in Love"—your beliefs determine the final act.
Hidden Story Layers: Only by making specific combinations of choices can you unlock characters' hidden pasts and the ultimate secrets of the academy.

Stage-Inspired Lighting Design: Close-ups intensify dramatic tension and psychological pressure.
Immersive Sound Design: Sound becomes a vital character in the narrative.
Original Theatrical Score: Music shifts dynamically with the plot and your choices, heightening emotional peaks.

主角 is a game that embraces the idea that every story is shaped not only by its heroes, but also by the expectations placed upon them. Developed by 顶顶阳光 and published by 一相逢互动娱乐 and 凤麟工作室, the title presents a reflective journey that focuses heavily on narrative, character relationships, and the burden of being at the center of events. Rather than delivering an action-heavy experience, it invites players to slow down and immerse themselves in a world where choices, conversations, and personal growth take precedence. Its premise immediately stands out for its willingness to examine the concept of protagonism itself, giving the game a distinctive identity among story-driven releases. The game's greatest strength lies in its storytelling. Throughout the adventure, players are encouraged to question the role they occupy within the narrative. The script frequently explores themes of destiny, purpose, and individuality, allowing the protagonist to evolve in meaningful ways depending on the decisions made. There is a strong emphasis on dialogue, and while the pace can be measured, the writing generally succeeds in maintaining interest through carefully timed revelations and emotional exchanges. The branching elements add further value, making subsequent playthroughs worthwhile for those interested in seeing alternate perspectives and outcomes. Presentation plays an important role in supporting the game's atmosphere. The art direction favors mood and symbolism over technical complexity, resulting in environments and character designs that complement the introspective tone of the story. While players expecting cutting-edge visuals may not find much to impress them on a purely technical level, the game's aesthetic consistency gives it a memorable charm. The soundtrack is equally effective, using understated compositions to reinforce both quieter moments and major narrative beats. Together, the audiovisual elements create an experience that feels cohesive and thoughtfully assembled. Gameplay remains intentionally simple throughout most of the experience. Exploration and dialogue choices form the core of the player's interactions, ensuring that attention remains focused on the unfolding narrative. This design philosophy works well for fans of visual novels and interactive storytelling, though some players may wish for greater mechanical variety. Extended conversations occasionally slow the momentum, and there are moments where additional interactive systems could have enhanced engagement. Nevertheless, the game's restraint demonstrates a clear understanding of its priorities, choosing depth of storytelling over unnecessary complexity. Another highlight is the supporting cast. Characters are given believable motivations and enough screen time to establish their importance within the broader narrative. Their interactions with the protagonist often provide some of the game's most compelling scenes, offering different viewpoints on themes such as responsibility, sacrifice, and self-discovery. These relationships help elevate the emotional impact of the story and ensure that the world feels populated by individuals with their own struggles rather than simple plot devices. Despite its strengths, 主角 is not a universally accessible experience. Its contemplative nature and slower pacing may alienate players who prefer immediate action or constant gameplay progression. Some philosophical discussions occasionally linger longer than necessary, and certain twists are more impactful than others. Even so, the sincerity behind the project's ambitions is difficult to ignore. It is evident that the developers set out to create a thoughtful experience that encourages reflection long after the final scene. In the end, 主角 succeeds as a narrative-focused title that confidently pursues its themes without compromise. It may not appeal to every audience, but players who appreciate character-driven stories and introspective storytelling will likely find much to admire. 顶顶阳光 has crafted a game that dares to ask what it means to stand at the center of a story, while 一相逢互动娱乐 and 凤麟工作室 have helped bring that vision to players seeking something more contemplative than the average release. It is a memorable journey that proves a compelling narrative can leave as lasting an impression as any grand spectacle. Rating: 9/10
