A wacky alternate universe version of DDP DOJ that is really cool to see preserved here and readily available. For the platform limitations, it's extremely well-made and looks great, though as mentioned the singular explosion sound effect is wimpy and pretty bad. Controls are quite good other than having to let go of auto-fire before hitting the laser button, if you want to switch shot types. I assumed this was intentional, even though it didn't match other Cave games I've played, but there is a fix available in the reviews which should stop this from happening, I just figured I had to be super thoughtful when I wanted to switch between the types. Cleared on normal with a 1cc- would love to meet the Japanese guy who actually cleared Special difficulty on a flip phone in 2005, you know somebody tried. If G-Mode reads English reviews of these for whatever reason, I would absolutely love to see the mobile phone version of Final Fantasy Adventure AKA Seiken Densetsu, it always looked fascinating and a GameBoy port has a much better chance of holding up on a phone I'd imagine. (PS - unlock Special difficulty and boss rush mode by going to the title screen with "Press Select" shown, and entering left - left - down - down - down - left - left -left -left)

they ported the wrong version of Daioujou Objectively speaking is it a good game though : sure, worth the price of 4€s, the game offers you a run of 5 stages defaulting with the easy difficulty with 5 lives and no continues allowed. As you raise the difficulty you really won't feel a big difference so this game is acceptable for beginners. There is no online leaderboard (Thanks @Phi1997, they can be accessed through the menu ) and the local leaderboards are limited as you can only track your highest score only. and the menus are not in English, making it hard to navigate and edit visual, auditive and control options. The controls are responsive and there is no lag for a mobile port so everything is functional, if only the store page gave an extensive description of what to expect. buy it only if you want to support the hope of the other Dodonpachi games being ported. Funny how the store page's description promises you that "You will Die", due to this game's pacing, I can hardly see anyone (new comers included) having difficulties playing this game. I would not expect new fans to be pleased by this port.
Do yourself a favor and play this definitive version of the legendarily soul-crushing DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou. Absolute masterpiece. Legend has it since this port's release in 2021 japanese super-players have been throwing themselves against this brutasl clear for almost 43 years. Are you up for the challenge
And an award for weirdest ports goes to: Nokia phone version of Dodonpachi that was then ported over to steam. It's far from the best shmup available, but it's solid for an old mobile game - it's also cheap, and is pretty fun once you get used to the controls. Drum explosion sound effects are dreadful though. [Note that there's no English translation, so you're gonna need a little guesswork if you don't speak Japanese. Keyboard controls for reference are: Z/Shift/Space - auto shot, X - bomb/hyper, V - shot(tap) / laser(hold), Q - volume control, E - Pause, Esc - Options Menu]
