Futurejam is an Early Access free VR music rhythm game. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Maybe try this game for free instead of buying Beat Sabre.

Concurrent players on Steam, sampled daily since tracking started.
Tracking is iffy on VIVE, sometimes hitting the center of drum/piano key wont register, and the opposite, sometimes hitting nothing will register as a key press, cannot reccomend the game until this tracking issue is fixed and a few more songs are added
Wouldn't recommend this one, tracking seems to be off & doesn't feel like you're actually playing or hitting anything because of the background music that already is there.
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/B1C-R7SeXNg
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
This game is now completely free to play. It was a paid game in Early Access, so you could see some of the issues it had when you play it. However, it's still a fun game to play as long as you're okay with the limitations of the game. Currently, there are only 7 songs total and 3 different environments to play in. There are no difficulty levels. There are basically no options in the game. The game consists of playing virtual drumsticks on either drum pads and/or piano keys. The drum pads & piano keys will vary depending on the song. You basically hit them to the beat of the music for the most part (although they don't always coincide with each other). Unfortunately, the crowd noise is pretty loud as far as either applause or boos. So you may want to prefer the simple environment of the Black Lounge where at least you can just hear the music. The instruments actually do make noise, except for the upper drum pads which are silent. However, your score does get marked off for that. There are leaderboards, both local and online. I enjoyed the soundtrack, but it is all electronic dance music so if you're not into that then you may not enjoy it as much. There are also some issues with the game. I did notice some hit detection issues, some random lag spikes, & the music cutting off for no apparent reason during gameplay. Despite those issues, I had fun playing this game. It's not the best music rhythm game out there, but it's definitely the best free one out there with its own music (with McOSU you have to bring your own music). Rate 7/10.
Considering this game is free it is pretty good, but certainly has its flaws. Despite there being drum pads and keys for each track, it seems you are actually trying to hit the tiny little pyramids that fly down towards you. Due to this it can be very easy to miss the target. The hit boxes need to be bigger, preferably have you actually hit the instruments that you see and not so much target the actual pyramid notes which are tiny. It also has random stutters which can throw you off, while also having some parts that do not seem 100% in synch. Check out my gameplay video for more detail: https://youtu.be/jL_eIrlZTCM This game used to have a price tag, but the devs have left it to focus on another VR rythm game. So rather than have two projects at once going they chose to make this one free and drop support for it. Since it is free I will recommend it, if it still had a price tag I wouldn`t and would suggest the devs work on it.
Recenzja dwujęzyczna. Komentarz + translator. Bilingual review. Comment + translator. Kolejna nieznana perełka. Zachęcam do przeczytania, to długi, ale jeden z najlepszych opisów. Another unknown gem. I encourage you to read, it's long, but one of the best descriptions. Unfortunately, this is basically a beta, but if we come to terms with some inconveniences. It's definitely one of the best free VR games, one of 10. Why is the game free? From what I remember she was abandoned for technical reasons. And everyone who bought it got the opportunity to receive a newly written game. What's in the game? Three scenes (probably unlockable, I don't remember). Two with the audience and one without, I recommend this without. Five plates and keys, sort of drums with piano. This "drums" and "piano" are together on screen. Kind of like, it's another Beat Saber clone, but it's something quite different. The game has three tutorials and seven "songs" unlocked with stars. The music is very pleasant. I could play the same song many times, and I didn't feel like I was listening to the same thing all the time. It may seem that the songs are not enough, but the difficulty grows so fast. That unlocking all seven is not easy at all. And making the last two out of 3 stars completely exceeds my capabilities. Now about the problems. Unfortunately, they cannot be overlooked. For me, the game starts very long, 2 minutes to choose the scenery, and 3 minutes after the selection. During this time, it puts a lot of strain on the processor (and nothing else happens). But after that, everything works quickly. To the exit where the situation repeats itself, 2 minutes. Exit is not a problem, because you can disable the game immediately from the steam window. I read descriptions about tracking problems, it seemed to me that for me it is the same. But when I looked at it better, it turned out that I was leaning over the drums and then I did not hit. Likewise, after a long game, it seems that she does not count the strokes, but it is my hand, it is she who does not make the move. Another thing is the inability to get out of the song differently than leaving the game. At the "beginning" (star-raising) it angered me, but then it stopped, I closed my eyes and rested. I would also point out that I use an oculus rift with three sensors. But It seems to me that what goggles you have does not matter much. Gorąco polecam. I highly recommend it.

"Futurejam" is a failed and crappy ripoff of Guitar Hero where you pretend to be a DJ in low poly neon environments (because computer graphics are hard) while waving your arms around in time to crappy EDM that the developer was hoping to resell to you through Steam... yeah the dollar signs in front of the developers eyes were so big they couldn't see how bad the code is. No wonder they abandoned this almost as fast as gamers walked right on by... this was a dismal failure. The developers abandoned this 6 years and 5 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. The graphics aren't great... that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was delusionally charging $10 USD for this (with an intention to charge more money for reselling crap EDM tracks). Price barriers, especially on unfinished, low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. This is a slap in the face to anyone naive enough to back this project thinking the developer would make good on their promises. Instead, the developers kept the money from all the backers they scammed. Not a single cent has been refunded. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
