They nailed the feeling of being on a boat, If you have issues with motion sickness you should avoid this., The graphics are good but the controllers are really bad. You have to fight the game to be able to grab things which is immersion breaking. The game feels lifeless and there is nothing else to do than to sail the sea and shoot different enemy ships.
I picked this up back in Early access thinking that "Hey the devs seem to be really developing this game and by release would be packed full" That did not happen at all. It's Skull and Bones but less to do and that is saying something cause Skull and Bones is a dumpster fire of an attempt at a pirate game,, but thats for a different review and day. What this game is missing which would have made it for me the best Pirate game of all time -No land battles -No boarding -No taking NPC ships -No fleets -No Pirate Dens -No taking over Ports -No real economy to speak of -Missions and quests seem all the same -Not a real pirate game just a Naval VR game with bare bones Positives of the game -Looks better then all other VR pirate/naval games -Less motion sickness then other (At sea) games -Easy controls (When they work) -Easy to pilot ship -Ocean looks very very good -Ship's look great and feel good. I wish this would have been the Pirate game on VR I have been longing for, a full Pirate experience with replay value that is up there with games like Black Flag or Sea Of Thieves. If someone ever made a SOT VR type game I would gladly pay $70 for the game and I feel many who love the Pirate fantasy would as well, This game however is not it or close it's fun for an hour or two to get out ship combat out of your system but thats it. I would say get the game and I give it 3 stars out of 5 for what it is and what it offers but only if you catch it on sale for $15 or less which is as I write this is on Sale. Full price though I would look else where for a great VR game.
Pros: - Addicting. There is something really cool in this game, that drives you forward. - Forgiving. Checkpoints are common, so even if you die - you don't lose much progress - I like ships go boom. Very satisfying Cons: - The game doesn't offer much. Both content and gameplay are limited. If it wasn't VR you could easily say, that's a cellphone game. - There is something wrong with controls. Probably because both steering wheel and cannons are stationary, if you hold them for too long and move - they slip, leaving you confused why the ship stopped turning. That's actually a problem with many VR games with rotary yet stationary objects. - I think it's too expensive. I got it for 12 USD, but that's way to much for a "cellphone game for PCVR". I can give 4 USD. Perhaps one day I'll give it another try.
it plays like a cheep demo
Was hoping for so much more . They could have ripped off Sid Meier's Pirates! game play loop and let us get immersed in a world of plunder and sailing. But this thing is just very simplistic shooter - feels more like a proof of concept than a full game. Shame. I would have loved me some real swashbuckling.
Not a whole lot to do yet, but so immersive I was swaying like I was actually on board a ship
予告を見て気になったので購入 小型の海賊船?を操縦して、次々と現れる敵の船を沈めていきます グラフィックも綺麗で、船員たちの動きも細かく表現されていて、とても楽しいです
love the game but it only worked once out of about a dozen attempts. if they ever get it right its a lot of fun
