This game is incredible. The controls are smooth, the music is great, and the gameplay is just straight up fun. I put a lot of hours in on the NES copy (there are cartridges for the NES for this too!!) but the Steam version plays very nice with a modern controller. Definitely worth checking out and definitely worth the price.
Cool game until it becomes a mashfest
This game is nothing short of a masterpiece. Not only as a technological achievement, as it would seem to push the NES to its absolute limits, but also in terms of gameplay and storytelling. I love everything about this game. The controls, the graphics, the combat, the puzzles, and perhaps most of all, the music. — every single song in this OST is a certified banger. It reminds me of my early days of gaming - playing games like bionic commando, mega man, and blaster master. It feel like a combination of the best parts of all these games, and yet it has its own very unique identity. I’m also reminded a bit of Dying Light by this game (and that’s a good thing). To vinzouille78 - sounds like a skill issue my man. Get good. This game is not a “miss”, it’s a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bullseye. If you spent so much time trekking back and forth it’s only because you suck at figuring out the puzzles, and if the enemies are really that much of an issue for you then I assume you must not like to be challenged while playing video games in general. I don’t understand this complaint at all because you can pretty much blow through the environments once you become familiar with them and especially once you’ve upgraded your arsenal. The game is fantastic, the exploration is fun (and that’s saying something for a 2D game), and so is the combat.
I have this game in a few formats (physical on NES, on Switch, etc.) and really love it. This is like a long-lost sprawling adventure for NES, but with modern design features. The amount of stuff they were able to stuff into this game is fantastic. The music is excellent, and the mechanics are really inventive. I cannot recommend this game enough.
If you're into exploratory adventure platformers with mild resource management, gorgeous art, and awesome chiptunes, you need to play this game. Although it was designed to run an the 8-Bit Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)—and really pushes the hardware to make it one of the best games available for that system—it offers a fully modern gaming experience, including button mapping for its many controls, and it will probably take you at least 20 hours for a first playthrough. Full Quiet is quite challenging with many puzzles, an extensive game map, and tough combat (as well as some elements of survival horror that remind me of recent triple-A games like Alien: Isolation), but it's a very rewarding experience for your time, and I can honestly say I've never played anything quite like it. I can't think of many things that would be better to spend $10 on, so if you're even slightly curious, check it out. And don't forget to keep a pen and paper handy!
Full Quiet is a full on Retro unforgiving experience that will take you and your skills to the limit. This game is not here to hold your hand but instead to make the every second you spend on the game be a rush making the survival horror aspect of it truly terrifying. You never know when the night is going to hit, you cant be sure when the next enemy is going to show up, you can never be sure if you'll be able to handle the next puzzle. Full Quiet is indeed a great game for those lovers of the Retro experience and also for those that are in it for the challenge! The Gameplay is tight but just right so every death becomes a learning experience. The game is quite long after considering all the deaths you will need to undergo to learn each section. I would say based on what I have experienced so far. You can expect to be hooked for 15-20h or more before you reach the end. I must also add that this game is a treat to the eye! for all of the pixel art fans out there! The level of detail that has been put on every rock, every tree, the enemies, Pap himself! is to be said. The music of the game is also quite classic, quite mysterious. It adds up to the whole survival experience making you fully immerse with the moment and the Gameplay. One of the downsides of Full Quiet is the full control support system when platforming. The game is extremely tight making the learning curve quite harsh and difficult. I believe this follows the old school scheme of retro games and that is perfectly fine just something to consider if you are expecting the jumps of the character to be super smooth. Overall speaking Full Quiet is a game that deserves a big shout out, they try to go big and I would say the managed to produce a game that can compete with some of the big titles out there! Go in with the right expectations and this game will not disappoint! With that say, good luck on your adventure! P.S. I received this product from the devs
If Full Quiet had dropped when the NES reigned supreme, it would've been hailed as one of the defining games of that era. Originally developed for the NES console and now ported to Steam, Retrotainment packed this game with more playability than you might expect from a console pushing 40. It's a wild ride: a labyrinth teeming with challenging puzzles and perilous encounters. You'll find yourself immersed in its atmosphere: a chilling tapestry of isolation, mystery, and impending doom. You're a man, alone in the woods, on a quest to find your missing son. Armed with only a gun and your wits, you'll face hordes of creepy alien creatures while unraveling the secrets of this enigmatic realm. This game will keep you on the edge of your seat for hours on end. Thankfully, you can save your progress! And, unlike back in the 80s, your saves won't be wiped spontaneously. lol The music is also fantastic: a haunting 8-bit symphony. If you dig retro games or Metroidvanias, Full Quiet is your warpzone back to the golden age of 8-bit.

As a retro enthusiast and player of most NES games in the system's library, I can definitively say that Full Quiet is one of the most ambitious and expansive titles ever released on the platform. The day/night cycle is fantastic, the enemies are well designed, and the story design and atmosphere are unmatched on the NES system. The puzzles are challenging but overall a great way to shake up the gameplay. I love the art style and animation of the sprites which adds to the dark, mysterious vibe of the game. The sound design is subtle at times but very fitting to the theme of the game. Despite the challenges presented by working within the confines of the NES audio chip, there are some great catchy tunes that will remain stuck in my head for a while after finishing the game. If I had to find something to criticize, it would be that there is quite a bit of backtracking, which is expected in a Metroidvania style game anyway. That, and with the graphics being so lush despite the NES' limitations, it is sometimes hard to differentiate objects on the background. That could just be me needing glasses though. Overall, I am thrilled with this nostalgic open-world retro title by Retrotainment. I did not expect anything less from the creators of Haunted: Halloween '85 and '86, though. Had this game been released in 1990, it would no doubt be a legendary classic by now!
