Im in love with this game!!! it takes a bit to get used to but after i did man was it good!!!
Ambitious, polished, and unique. Great setting, I really enjoyed exploring the game's vast wilderness and finding all the different locations. That being said, the environment's labyrinthine layout, paired with the sometimes excessively cryptic nature of the puzzles, did get a bit overwhelming at times. I kind of wish the game was a bit more . . . concise? But the gameplay and atmosphere kept me hooked for the full 26 hours it took for me to finish it.
Easily a top 10 game for the NES. Don't let my low hour count fool you, I beat the game on the NES. Most NES homebrews are simple, but this is a AAA title. If you enjoyed games like Metroid or Castlevania 2, this is a game for you.
Brutally difficult and extremely cryptic, very easy to get completely lost and confused. But also incredibly atmospheric, challenging, and interesting. Really pushes the limits of what you think is possible from an 8-bit game. Really enjoy it. There are times when it makes me want to give up... and yet i keep coming back over and over again.
Very fun game, basically your dark souls thrown into a 8bit 2d platform! If your a keyboard/mouse player, you'll be disappointed that there is no controller support. But I'm sure yall will figure out a way to make it work anyways :) *note the monitor hz rate actually has impact on the speed of the game. I personally ran it at 240 like a madman :3
Agree with other reviews, controls are a bit difficult (using 8BitDo Pro 2). My biggest issue is with the circuit puzzle, is there really a need for you to lose life if timer runs out -- c'mon! Another issue, which I don't think I seen others mentioned is if you run this game at 120hz or higher, game rung good but everything is 2x fast including the circuit puzzle timer -- makes it impossible to complete!!!
This game was a lot of fun! There's a whole wilderness for the player to explore and slowly conquer as they gain new weapons and master the layout of the gameworld. I liked the atmosphere of the game; it's a vast, profound loneliness! The mysteries and puzzle-solving were pretty cool. The NES limits held back some aspects of the game– like enemies respawning whenever the player went to another room or even peered through a scope– but its a comparatively breezy game. The combat challenge was fair and it was satisfying to uncover this realm's secrets. This is a game one can really get lost in!
I was going to wait until I finished the game to give my final review but I decided to do it now 9 hours in. I am not going to give a generic pros and cons list but instead just give my perspective as to why I would recommend, and I do recommend this with a slight caveat. This game will not appeal to everyone. The pace of Full Quiet could be considered slow and at times confusing as to where to go next and what to do once you get there. You can take that how you will, but for me it was not a bother at all and at times extremely satisfying once you do figure something out. The one obvious that stands out (especially if you watched the trailer) is the 8 bit graphics that absolutely hit that nostalgic itch. Not only that but that game is flawless as far as glitches go (from my playthrough). If you grew up with NES games like I did, you know how janky some of those old games can be. Final summary is this. If you are looking for something a bit unique for an 8 bit NES game where you explore, find new items and weapons in a 2D open world, solving puzzles and becoming one with a world that has seen better days as humanity hangs on by a thread then I suggest you pick this up.
It was an unexpectedly expansive world, teeming with diverse and challenging puzzles that required some serious lateral thinking. The game mechanics were top-notch, with controls that were tight and responsive, ensuring character movement felt fluid and intuitive. I particularly enjoyed the standard weapon's infinite ammo cache, coupled with reasonable reload times which aided nicely in intense fights. The mini-game for fuse integration, reminiscent of the classic Pipe Dream, added a nice strategic layer to gameplay. Enemy balancing was on point, from the cannon fodder grunts to the more formidable giant fungus pillars, offering a satisfying difficulty curve. Pathfinding wasn't too difficult with visibly accessible routes, making exploration intuitive without breaking immersion. While some puzzles are a bit tough and cryptic, they are quite gratifying once you figure them out.
