Very entertaining Angry Birds clone with plenty of content for the money
Grape Scott! Fruitland is under attack and your fruit army must repel the invaders by launching themselves into the buildings where they are hiding, obliterating them, and saving your fruity skin. It's a fruit based Angry Birds.
🎬Gameplay Video🎬
https://youtu.be/dupn1w1nNo0
🤔Overall Impressions🤔

Fruitalistic is a fun and entertaining casual physics game, which is going to draw obvious comparisons to Angry Birds, but it does possess a rustic indie charm and all the physics seem on point. I enjoyed the amount of tactics needed to pass certain levels. Sometimes, picking the right fruit is important, because they all have different damage rates and certain materials like steel can only be damaged by hard fruits. The softer fruits like tomatoes (yes it is a fruit!) and bananas do the least damage, and can be used to destroy wood or finish off an enemy that is out in the open. Ammunition can be replenished by hitting fruit targets, which may be a priority if you only possess a soft fruit which will not damage certain materials. In later levels, up to three cannons can be used, so decisions are needed when to use them. There is plenty of content, with over 50 levels, in different areas like forests, mountains, volcanoes and beaches, and each level is quite varied, with new challenges introduced as you travel through the stages. You can complete a level with a bronze, silver, or gold star depending on your score. There are no leader boards currently, but your high score is recorded for each level, but I found that once I had completed a level to gold standard, there was no need to try it again. If leader boards were introduced then this would be incentive to keep trying. Often, it is a challenge to get a gold star, which promotes that one more try feeling. The game is really easy to play with a mouse. You just drag back on the cannon for power and let go of the mouse button to launch. I did find adjusting the power quite difficult though, and sometimes the cannon would go a bit haywire when I was trying this and difficult to correct. I could not see that there was a way to cancel the shot, so I had to waste a fruit. The camera did invoke a small feeling of motion sickness, as the game area often swings around following launched fruit or when it is returning to the start for another shot. The developer has promised to include an option where the next shot resets immediately back to base, which hopefully should alleviate this small issue. Although the physics looked spot on, generating some awesome collapses, often I would question why things didn't get destroyed, or why enemies didn't die from rubble hitting them or by falling large distances. Enemies would often get buried in debris making them very difficult to reach, especially if you had limited fruit, but the way the scoring system works everything needs to be destroyed anyway so it very rarely caused a problem. There is no way of continuing after the last enemy is killed, even if you have fruit left over, meaning potential wasted points. There is a completion bonus which may take this into account, which seemed to vary in points, but I was never quite sure what the criteria was. I was going to mention that there are a few features missing like restarting the level, or seeing how many points are needed for each star, but I later found these options tucked away behind a menu in the corner of the screen, so perhaps that could have been highlighted better. Overall, I really enjoyed Fruitastic. It's a faithful version of Angry Birds that has its own personality, and with five hours of content is seems very good value for money. Leader boards and achievements would catapult this game to another level.

See all my reviews at Indie Blast!
