Front Lines

Front Lines is a free, abandoned, simple "ragdoll" physics/strategy game made with Unity. Gameplay consists of spending a budget of "money" on a number of troops, then hitting "Start battle" and watching the little low poly rubber soldiers fight to see who wins. There's sandbox and campaign modes. The game works well enough, although it is very simple and feels as much like a demo or a school project as it does a full game. The low poly ragdoll soldiers lack polish and sophistication, and may have been asset flipped. Resolution is locked and can't be changed, dropping the game below acceptable standards for PC. The game was abandoned by the developers not long after releasing into Early Access. The game is completely free. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. This is certainly a gesture that shows dedication to the gaming industry. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. There's no "maybe" option in Steam, unfortunately, but I hope to see more work from this developer, perhaps as part of a professional game development company that can make full use of their talents.
