Froggy's Farm & Friends is a student project from the Digipen Institute of Technology, teaching the young people of today how (and how not) to do game development. Unfortunately, this year, the students did not graduate... this 3D rendered adventure/crafting game has a lot of flaws that even students should never be permitted to send to publishing. The graphics, for starters, are a mix of low poly art and 2D sprites plastered onto placeholders... I suspect they didn't get around to replacing those with actual 3D models. So, there's a big lesson for those learning about game development... if you didn't finish the game, don't ship it!!! From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. PC gamers will be insulted by the presence of console peasant children's toy controller prompts, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this game was never accepted on the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you download this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? And it's free? Nope... sometimes, with free games, you get what you pay for. So, the game is completely free, as it's a non-professionally developed student project. It's difficult to say it's appropriate for colleges and schools to publish every bit of work their students produce (whether the students pass the course or not), because this is of questionable value for the most important people in the gaming industry - the gamers. Regardless in many ways, even if this is a student project, it's better than much of the pollution on Steam (asset flips and other shovelware/cash grabs). Ultimately, however, the low quality here makes it not really worth the download.

It doesn't say anywhere that its controller only but its controller only
good cute game. needs 100 more levels :)
10/10 love this game, would absolutely pay for a full release
this bunch didn't even bother to tick a checkbox to show the embarrassing no kb/m support warning on the top of the store page for a game released on pc. not only are they incompetent, they're shady too. maybe they accidentally took false advertising 101 instead of gamedev 101 and they aced it. besides more than half a dozen coders, none of whom has ever seen a keyboard or mouse, nor a game controlled by them for inspiration, the credits also list all the professors, mentors and teaching assistants who failed their students by not doing their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ job. surprisingly, mouse and keyboard are recognized in the menu but moving the mouse only selects buttons if the INVISIBLE CURSOR happens to land on one. are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kidding me? keyboard is better but there are only 2 volume sliders and a look at the controller-only, non-rebindable controls and lovely controller buttons as prompts everywhere. at least esc backs out of stuff. by some sort of coding accident, both arrows and wasd move the frog around and 'e' interacts. movement is bad, mostly because characters are static cardboard cutouts and it's hard to position yours correctly. simply running over flowers collects their seeds and I found out by pressing everything that 'q' and 'r' cycle through the inventory and 'o' brings up the recipe book. gather seeds, plant and water them over and over, then make potions or essence out of them. the latter is currency to unlock more plots and whatnot. plants respawn fast but growing stuff takes a while between waterings and plots aren't next to each other, so it's all very tedious. potions speed things up but then you're wasting resources that could be turned into essence, though if balanced properly, it should be the preferable choice. not that any of it matters because once you grow a few of each and find the 4 tadpoles under rocks and such, it's over. except instead of congratulating you right there and then, you have to do more grinding to get congratulated in the next area, which is just that, the game over message, no new plants or anything. you can continue growing stuff but there's no point. so I accidentally completed the whole thing. of course, there is no saving or warning about no saving, quitting simply takes away all your progress. and as a bonus annoyance, there's a bit of screen shake for invalid actions, like trying to water again too fast. somebody should really look into what's going on at digipen. are these zero-effort projects all from kids whose parents paid for a library there or something? no way these clowns passed any course related to game development otherwise. one must also wonder if these are the creme de la creme, what are the other projects like that don't make it onto steam? and how is digipen okay with their reputation (if there's any left) taking hit after hit because of these worse than amateurish projects? no wonder most games these days come out and forever remain in terrible conditions if the education system is clearly failing wannabe developers. and by that I mean not failing them and not teaching them anything either. anybody involved with this project (teachers too) might want to skim this here guide I put together a while ago: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3329695276
