Fritz 18 Steam Edition

Just bought this to improve my chess. Tried for over 10 hours to get certain functions to work. Only to discover that this is a steam edition.... Which means that there are some features missing that are quite essential in my opinion. After discovering this i wanted a refund because clearly this wasn't what i had in mind. Buying a limited version paying the exact same price as the complete version on chessbase. But after spending more than 10 hours trying to figure this game out. I wasn't eligible for a refund. Absolute waste of money and time. Get your chess software from a certified place rather than this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (first time, problems to be honest). This game is a scam. DONT BUY ITTTT

It's a ripoff. It's ridiculously expensive at $80 and the overall software quality is very low. When I spend $80 on a game, I expect that software to be damn perfect. But the interface is cryptic and there are a lot of bugs. You can easily put the program in a state where you don't know what's happening. I've had to kill the running process because it was stuck and I couldn't cancel whatever it was it was doing. I guess you're paying for the chess engine or something? But there's the Stockfish engine that's free, is a stronger player and gives you more information. There are many ridiculous things about this program. There's this Friend mode where the program will match your playing strength. That's actually a really good feature and it's very good at playing you so you'll win one game, lost one game, win one, lose one. So you can get better without becoming too demoralized and depressed (I'll leave the question of whether it's enabling an unhealthy psychological behavior). The problem is that it also matches the time that you take to move. So if you're just playing casually and you leave it and go off and make dinner or something and come back an hour later and make your move, you're going to have to wait an hour for that thing to get off its ass and make its move. It's so absurd! It has a Rated mode where you play with chess clocks against the computer, but the lowest rating it plays at is 1096, which is pretty strong for an amateur. I've played about 50 games in this mode and it roundly kicks my ass every time. The program rates me at about 750-800. If you want good value for your money look elsewhere. If you really want to buy this software, at least buy it directly from them. It's the exact same price, but the Steam version is crippled with fewer features. That's what their own support team told me. For example, online help is not available. Yes, that's right. There is no help within the program. You have to go trawling the internet to find some chickenscratched pdf file where you spend more time trawling through and when you find what you were looking for, you're sorry that you even bothered. Ignore my 400+ hours play time. I just leave it on in the background all the time.

Do not buy this game. It is the stripped down version. You will not be able to access Gamebase.com for training or etc. a lot of tabs and info is faded. Not the full game... I didn't know that until after 2 hours which is the limit of refund... So disappointed in Steam... :(

Absolute Frechheit! Habe zu Vereins-Zeiten bereits alte fritz Teile gespielt und war immer zufrieden aber wenn ich mir das Spiel heute anschaue das gefühlt immer noch das gleiche ist wie eh und je bis auf ein paar Nutzeroberflächenänderungen die nicht mal besser sind. Wenn ich mir dann die Homepage von ChessBase anschaue und sehe was die mittlerweile an Geld für ein paar Videos oder Datenbanken haben wollen da frage ich mich nur was ist falsch mit euch. Dort kann man mal locker 1000€ und mehr für für ein wenig Schachsoftware ausgebe, HALLO??? Absolut stehen geblieben in der Zeit. Auf der Homepage wird für die Originale Fritz 18 Version sogar 79,90€ verlangt, mit der Datenbank Chessbase16 sogar 200€ :-) sry Leute aber ihr habt wohl den Knall echt nicht gehört. Für Vereine zum Streamen vielleicht noch alles ok aber für Privatleute jenseits von Gut und Böse. Oberknaller ist das die Steam Version hier dann auch noch eingeschränkt ist da fällt einem wirklich nichts mehr zu ein.

O jogo vem com uma série de limitações e não atualiza como a versão original da chessbase. E essas diferenças não são explicadas na hora da venda. Adão

me gusta mucha su forma de jugar super humana (lo han logrado muy bien, y eso es para alagar mucho, ya que todos sabemos la forma en la que surgio la IA fue a través de los juegos de ajedrez por computadora), y la actitud instructiva del juego, empujando a la evolución del jugador..... muy recomendable, por sierto quiero agregar que he jugado al ajedrez toda mi vida, tanto en clubes como con amigos, y tengo 42 años.

Fritz 18 – Ist nicht zugebrauchen. Anmeldung bei Chessbase, mehr als nur Fragwürdig. Es heisst zwar, dass keine Drittanmeldung benötigt wird, doch was da gebastelt wurde, ist echt Traurig. Nicht zu empfehlen.

Junge, Junge sind da Kritiken.... was soll sich an einem Schachspiel bitte ändern? -die Sprüche von Fritz sind immer noch cool -das Design kann man nicht sonderlich ändern, es sei den man will rosafarbene Ritter oder solchen nonsens.... -wenn man eine alte Lauffähige Version hat für Windows 11 braucht man auch kein neues Fritz -wer kein Fritz hat kann einfach bedenkenlos zuschlagen -70€ zu happig? vollkommener Blödsinn, denn Schach spielt man ewig bzw. bis es auf einem neuen Betriebssystem nicht mehr läuft, was bei meinem alten Fritz nun der Fall war, aber da können die Entwickler von Fritz nix für daher -- > UNBEDINGTE KAUFEMPFEHLUNG von mir
