Very good one the story kept me interested and the lewd scenes were good
great game looking for more
Fractured Realms is an adult themed visual novel taking place both on Earth and on other worlds. This review has been written half way thrue Season 1, resulting in aprox 3 hours of play (speedrun, skipping a lot of text). The story is decent as is the art. I'm curious how it will progress. Fractured Realms was bought during a sale with a 25% discount, a good prize for what you get IMHO.
Man, I'm so mixed on this game. On one hand, I really enjoy the stories and characters. On the other, this game has a handful of problems. I was fortunate to only run across one missing image unlike others, but the developer could definitely use better beta-testers to help work out some of other mistakes that happen during the game (like wrong person designated as speaking, telepathy not being italicized sometimes, and some of the more egregious grammar mistakes). Also, sometimes the choices vanish after you make them and sometimes they don't and the inconsistency is a bit frustrating. Season 1 also ends in an odd place in my mind, like I can see why it might seem like a good place to break things up, but it is definitely not one I would choose. Not to mention, with the exception of 4 characters, progress relationship-wise is almost non-existent, and I don't mean on a physical level, but some of them don't even see the MC as a friend yet, which for the end of a first season is kind of disconcerting. The dev is putting themselves in a place where they will either have to rush the relationships, have a ton of seasons, make however remaining seasons considerably longer, or leave some relationships incredibly emotionally stunted by the end of it. Honestly, that might extend to most of the writing in Season 1. Things just feel so early story-wise (like not even close to a third of the way through story, more like a tenth of the way) and unless the dev goes more than 3 seasons, I don't see how things won't feel super rushed at some point. There's a part of me that is pretty sure the dev suffered some nasty scope creep as they are trying to do way too much with not nearly enough time to do it and we're gonna see a lot of stuff get way less content or be given less care than it deserves coming off as more half baked than a full game or story. While I've been writing this, I was waffling on whether I would recommend this game or not, and I think having written this out, I will say right now, I can't recommend it. It is less expensive than most AVNs so that is something, but it feels almost like a case of you get what you pay for and the game itself won't end up meeting the things it seems to want to do. Edit: I also assume some of the cleanup that will be done will be removing the five characters from the gallery that claim to have scenes "coming soon" since none of them have scenes in Season 1, which could be incredibly misleading and dishonest. It would be better to reserve that sort of thing to add in Season 2 and just adds to the aforementioned above problems.
There are SO many spelling and grammar mistakes, missing words, and wrong or missing punctuations. So many that I was pissed about it. It was really hard to read at times. Worse than that, There were a lot of missing scenes, or bad coding, that kept throwing out an "Error" scene. Then constantly fluttering of following scenes for the next 10 or so. More of them happens after finding Veen in Her mind forest. It felt like at any minute it was going to go into fatal error and kick off the game. I missed so much with whatever the hell they were saying during those times too. The artistry/graphics was NOT a great thing either. I'm surprised I didn't get disgusted, and just shut it off and delete it. But I'm definitely hiding this from my library. It was worse than the Wallace and Gromit claymation crap. The only reason I kept going was the actual story. Even though I was so frustrated with how bad the writing mistakes had gotten. But, I'm definitely NOT going to recommend this piece of sh_t. Save your $ and get almost anything else. Just stay away from the crap this Dev has releases. It's obvious that they don't give a sh_t about what they spit out, from what this looks like, and the bad writing mistakes. Especially since this is a mid 2024 release, and it's still in 'early release'. With as little effort that they're actually putting in this, it should've been completed. Just saying.... This is awful.
Overall this IS a very good AVN, and for the most part I have enjoyed it so far. The story so far is excellent, as are most of the characters. One thing I particularly like is the fact that it is not like a lot of AVNs where most of the women all have huge breasts and arses. However, it still needs fixing. There are spelling and grammar issues. Writing issues where certain choices make no difference, e.g choosing NOT to sleep with someone and yet the story claiming you did. Which is just lazy writing in my opinion. Also, even after the recent update which was supposed to fix a lot of issues, there are places where the images are not showing, so you have text on a black screen. Added to that is the fact that the replay gallery is STILL broken. As I said, most of the characters are great, however there is one that I REALLY despise. Aside from being one of the weirdest and ugliest looking female characters I have seen in an AVN, she is also a complete B___H. She is constantly attacking you, bossing you and others around, and basically treating you like crap. What's worse is that you CANNOT avoid this person, and you are forced to have HER and others move in with you, whether you want them all to or not. So for an AVN that promotes choices, you really don't get a lot of choice, and even though you are the supposed MC, whenever SHE is in the group she takes charge and basically tells everyone, including you, what to do. Thankfully she is not always around, so far, but when she is it can be unbearable. Unless your a fan of "man bashing" I suppose. It's a shame really, because apart from how she looks and acts, this IS an excellent AVN, even with the various bugs, which I they will hopefully fix at some point. However, don't expect to get any help from the forum, as you are expected to go to the dev's Patreon page, which is a bit scummy if you ask me... UPDATE; Well, there has finally just been another update and the Dev has still not fixed the issues with this AVN, most notable being the black screen due to missing images, as described here; https://steamcommunity.com/app/2607120/discussions/0/523083237290953562/ . In my opinion they are either incompetent, lazy, or simply don't give a ♥♥♥♥ and are only doing this for the money. I was really enjoying this for the most part, but with a certain B___H of a character, that the story assumes you messed around with even if you didn't, and who would want to is beyond me, the black screens and various other issues, including all the "unhandled exception" errors which shows just how unstable this AVN is. Plus the fact that the Dev is absent from the forum and very rarely responds to anyone I am done with this. I strongly recommend against this AVN. Maybe it might get fixed one day, but considering this Dev, I highly doubt it. I feel this is just a cash grab for them...
This one seems to be more of a story than a choice driven avn, but I am still really enjoying it. It's got a lot of variables you can decide on and a lot of what will eventually be converging story lines I am guessing. While there are some typos and the animations arent smooth at times, none of these things are extreme enough to completely pull you out of the story or the scene. The price is also rather inexpensive for something that looks like it will be a pretty big undertaking if done correctly. If you get it on sale, even better.
Great story and good renders definitely worth the time. Can't wait to play the next update!
