There is a Fox in the ballroom! Or so the whispers from the other ballroom dancers suggest. Can the Flock trap the Fox before it is too late? Or will the Fox systematically eat all the other dancers before they even realize he is in their midst?

Fox & Flock is a twist on the centuries old Fox & Geese board + peg game (it plays a little like checkers). To add some value to an otherwise incredibly shallow (by todays standards) game, it's themed up a bit and reskinned (just a veneer, window dressing) and gameplay is arranged into different peg layout scenarios as you alternate between playing the fox and the geese. I'm not sure why this is on Steam, as it comes across more as a mobile app or a browser game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features mostly static, barely animated 2D images, the kind of thing you expect to see in browser/flash games. While the artwork itself, while mediocre, might be considered passable, the visual presentation here is negligible, it might as well be a slideshow or a Youtube video. Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Asteroids had more advanced animation and visuals going on than this game does. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the poor choice of using node-webkit/NW.js instead of a serious game engine. This is a very poor quality toolset for gaming, sometimes used by amateur developers as it doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities because it's primary function for games is to make simple HTML/browser/simple mobile apps rather than full fledged PC games (and given we are here for PC games, you can see why this is a problem). Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes Fox & Flock might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Fox & Flock is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

I guess for that price you can not complain, but even though I like Riddle games and also like the game fox in flock as a board game, this game was not my cup of tea. The artwork is very nice and there is a story mode to play. The controls where not always responsive and often you are left without really knowing what to do.
I just buy this just for the sake of listening to classical music and eating aristocrats while being an aristocratic fox
It's a well made 30 minute experience. Well worth the 2€. I recommend The Thumbs Up Indie Collection, if you want this and 4 other games for cheap.
Nice board game!
This game has many good points: * It is a creative adaptation of a known board game; * it works fine without any crashes; * it is simple and easy to play; * it has great atmosphere (good narration, beautiful music); * the space it takes on your PC is small (less than 300 MBs); * the game calls for reflexion and you can take your time, as such it is quite relaxing; * it has Steam Trading Cards; * it is quite cheap. The bad points: * it is not challenging enough; * it is quite short. How it is presented: * there is a basic "campaign" where you play as the predator and his mate; * you can also play a repeatable single game with tweakable settings; * you play on a very recognizable board where you move your pieces from one location to the next; * you can play as the flock (the preys) or the foxes (the predators); * the preys must block the predators and flee the scene; * the predators must eat as many of the flock as possible; * you win by either escaping the scene or eating enough of the flock. My take on this: because it is quite inexpensive, this game has good price/entertainment value. It is even better if it is for sale. If you like nice board games variants, you will most probably appreciate this game. The work and care put into it, the writing of the underlying text and narration, the use of very nice baroque music to bring forth a nice atmosphere, are all worth it.
This was cute and enjoyable. I'm glad it came as part of a bundle because I don't think it justifies the nominal cost on steam, but a steep discount could make this fun for an hour or so.
