Fowl Magic

Fowl Magic is really simple game yet packed with loads of fun. You descend your way down a tower going down as many floors as you can and there will be hostile mobs attempting to stop you while flames are chasing you from the top forcing you to keep going. The enemies are really unique and have nice designs (ahh the little boxing skeletons are really cute) and fun to fight against (i personally dont like those mini spiders ahh they keep killing me). The spider boss are plenty of fun and a nice challenge. There are a variety of power ups in the game like; unlimited dashes, invincibility (plus it gives of a cool rainbow trail behind), a lighting power up where you can zap enemies, a freeze power up where you can freeze them and also a fire ball where you can destroy blocks with. There is also a secret mode in the game (epilepsy and nausea warning due to the stage waving around like crazy and rapid change of colours) where in the main menu you click on the spider on the top right web and it will send you into this crazy yet challenging mode Overall the game is really fun and the secret mode is a must try for the people who can try it out. I highly recommend trying the game as its free so why not give it a try as its a really fun free game.

great game, very reminiscent of downwell. it's really difficult once you get to later stages but personally I just like blowing huge holes in the levels with the fireball

Fowl Magic is another student project from the DigiPen insitute in Washington. This time the students have made a 2D retro pixel platformer/endless runner hybrid as you must control a 2D retro pixel chicken falling down a tower and avoiding spikes and monsters as you go. This year the students failed completely. There's absolutely nothing of value in this game, and the technical execution is deeply flawed. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked, and can't be changed or customised to improve the visuals or the control experience. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. It's unclear why Digipen would instruct game development students that such shoddy, low quality, inferior software development is tolerable. Regardless, as a game, this is completely valueless due to the shallow gameplay and woefully bad technical execution, and should be avoided.

good, classic arcade styled action with a nice balance on challenge. powers are enough to keep you coming back for variety, and thematically it's just fun to play into the tropes of the retro days, playing as the supercharged chicken for once.
