About

Hunt through abandoned campsites, old watchtowers, cabins and cave systems. Explore in any direction you choose and survey the landscape to gain an upper hand in your hunts, for it might be wise to diverge from the beaten path…

Each hunt has its own fully handcrafted environment and story to tell. Discover clues, follow maps, solve puzzles, and survive harsh environments all while uncovering unspoken mysteries.
Only the greatest supernatural hunters will stand a chance of slaying the beast. Many have tried, many have failed. You will need to use all your stops to win this battle of wills. Hunt smart.

Scavenge for extra ammo, cameras, traps, meat, and other helpful resources to assist with the hunt. An expert hunter will find a way to get the job done with the options presented to them.
Traps and cameras are a vital part of a supernatural hunter’s arsenal. Place them whenever, wherever, and however you like in order to have eyes anywhere on the map. But be careful, you never know what might be looking at you on the other end.

Play hunts and take contracts together with full online multiplayer co-op with an unlimited number of friends. Gather your hunting party, strategize together, and unlock the secrets of the forest with your friends.

Take what you have learned and gathered, then head back to the Fortress, where you can unlock and purchase new gear to help you in the next hunt. Be careful though, if you die in a hunt, you don't always bring everything back…

Even after discovering all the creatures Folklore Hunter has to offer, there is always someone out there willing to hire expert hunters for new jobs! Take a contract from the notice board at the Fortress and complete a randomized hunt where no two expeditions are the same.

Near perfect cryptid hunts with the sole exception of the Strigoi
Not worth the $15 I spent or the 2.4 hours I played, would love to get both the time and money back. Its a good concept and gets a few style points here and there, but that hardly makes up for the unpolished mechanics, shallow gameplay loop, and lack of content. I have to believe that the publisher simply ran out of money while developing and chose to drop what they had as a "full release", but what's there is just enough for an early access alpha release. For example, the Wendigo hunt felt novel for the first 15 minutes as we figured out mechanics, but quickly turned into a fetch quest with a meddling pest of a monster we just had to drive off with a couple shots every so often while collecting objectives. The wolves growling in the woods were intimidating for the first 30 seconds until we realized every single one of them we encountered was bugged and frozen in place. About 20 minutes into game 2 we got bored of wandering around mothman island while he pestered us with his shrieking as we looked for the one maguffin we overlooked to unlock a door. Mothman was cool enough at first, but quickly got to be more annoying than scary. The final nail in the coffin that killed any sense of atmosphere was watching my teammates' character models climb ladders without even rudimentary animations. We're talking classic X-box style where their model just glides up and down with their legs locked in a weird half bent posture and arms doing nothing besides holding whatever item they had. I couldn't take any of it serious after that.
