About
The foghorns wake you, violent as ever. Another passenger has come to cross the fog.
In the dream you wander through the pines, and come upon a body. Innocent and young, murdered in cold blood. By your hand or another? Makes no difference now.
Foghorns Drown is a short psychological thriller, inspired by Silent Hill, Twin Peaks, and Mouthwashing. You play as a ferryman, bringing passengers across a foggy lake to a town drenched in mystery and folklore. The old ferryman has disappeared, and a murder has been committed.
How to tell real from dream when the dead speak again?
Physics-based interactions to open doors, drag objects, and operate the crank of the ferry to pull it along a rusty old chain. The foghorns have little patience, the ferry must move.
A rich, detailed narrative told through environmental clues, dialogue with the townsfolk, and surreal visions woven into your experience. The fog speaks to those who listen.
Psychological horror that escalate as truth begins to blur, and strange old tales begin to reveal themselves to you. Something in the water demands its toll.
Who is the killer? Why did the old ferryman disappear? Solve the mystery, before it's too late.

i love you
Foghorns Drown is a game with cool ideas that are poorly executed. The game is extremely short, taking me less than an hour and a half to beat, and it doesn't do a ton in that time. I originally played the demo, and it led me to think there would be an interesting eldritch horror mystery that would unravel throughout the game, but it's just too short to really have that. Instead, it's just a weird little lake side village that doesn't make a lot of sense, some hints at a wider world, and some weird, cryptic dialog from some fish hallucinations. It was all just underwhelming and confusing. Do not recommend.

A short narrative horror game. The experience focuses on atmosphere and suspense more so than big scares, and gameplay-wise it is definitely more of a walking sim. Absolutely wonderful soundtrack to accompany the beautiful lo-fi visuals. Loved it!
It's good, although I do feel it's a little bit front-loaded. Most of the things the description says you'll do you just do one or two times at the beginning and after that they take a secondary role or almost vanish in favour of story progression. In a word, it ends up kind of being a walking-sim, so don't go in expecting it to be a "ferryman simulator"; those mechanics are more of an excuse for the story they want to tell. I dig the story and the overall atmosphere, you can certainly say it was carefully crafted. However, I'm still piecing together the overall story. I feel some things are not particularly well narrated and having played the game two times I don't feel the visual or contextual cues were that much relevant, save for one or two decisive moments. Overall, I liked it, but I feel there's a bit of a disconnect between the description and the overall experience.
I sneezed while playing the darts game and got the bullseye achievement just like that after trying nonstop for 10 minutes 10/10 i recommend
horror game? no. darts game!!
A really good game with beautiful art and photography it's a little short, you can finish it in under 2 hours. The best points of this game are the graphics and the story; the cinematography and cutscenes are great. The game has some bugs, but nothing major that will break the experience. In general, I recommend the game for those who like the genre. This is not a game with jumpscares or even scary parts, the game focuses on the story and the development of the narrative. If you like that aspect, I would recommend it to you.

Buy it if you love timeskips and an extremely convoluted story. What a waste of time. The game started off good but after the first night it turned into this horrible mish mash of events you just cannot keep track of. It crashes often, runs poorly on the steam deck, no controller support and just an overall janky experience. There is also no sense of threat or danger. The story seems to be a retelling of Charon's tale along with some lovecraftian elements. It's probably good only if they made it a little easy to understand. After the first night I got lost figuring out what's real and what's a dream and then the game just ended. The only good thing was the eerie vibe and the setting. They could have made it better by giving the NPCs some animation or at least faces. Half the time I couldn't even tell NPCs apart in a game where you have to only talk to NPCs. They just stand, posing like a statue waiting for the player to talk to them. Play Mundaun if you want a better experience.
