it's always bad news when a man like you turns to god
I like the mood and artstyle, that's about it. Way too much dialog, developer should just write a book. It becomes nonsensical. Rushed.
Jogo bonito e bem feito graficamente, mas a história deixa a desejar se estendendo muito (ironico, pois o jogo é curto) e não explicando nada no final. Uma pena, pois tinha tudo para ser sensacional.

cool concept based on the greek ferrymen stuff plot twist was nice/lore was cool under 10 bucks worth a try edit: for devs can you please add more than just 1 audio volume setting slide? the music can be very faint vs the rest of the game
I really enjoyed this game, and despite its short length, it leaves a lasting impression. It's a mixture of sadness, admiration, mysticism, and something lynchian. Good story!
fun game, I liked it, has a couple crashing points that could be fixed though
It's very good, but quite short, only about 2 hours long. If the artstyle appeals to you, you should enjoy it.
FOGHORNS DROWN: A Ferryman's Shift Ends Too Soon -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Web review with screenshots and a full playthrough are available below. If this review helps you, feel free to follow my Steam Curator for more reviews. WEB REVIEW - https://solo-save.com/2026/07/23/foghorns-drown/ FULL GAME - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvkG3VRObvs CURATOR - https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44944862/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🎮 Gameplay: Foghorn Drowns is, at its core, a full-on walking simulator, and it never really tries to be anything else. The developers are transparent about this from the start, so players looking for deep gameplay mechanics or complex puzzles should know exactly what to expect. Instead, the experience is built around its narrative and atmosphere, using simple interactions to keep your attention on the story rather than the gameplay itself. Gameplay is kept deliberately simple, allowing the world and narrative to take center stage. While this approach won't appeal to everyone, it fits the experience the developers set out to create. During my playthrough I experienced one crash near the beginning of the game, but aside from that the controls felt fluid, responsive, and worked as intended for the rest of the journey. 📘 Story: The story was one of the strongest parts of Foghorn Drowns for me. It immediately grabbed my attention with an intriguing premise that made me want to uncover more about the world and the mysteries surrounding it. You play as a ferryman in the remote, fog-drenched village of Birchwood. Following a brutal murder and the mysterious disappearance of the previous ferryman, you're tasked with navigating the gloomy lake while confronting surreal nightmares that blur the line between reality and the town's dark folklore. Without giving too much away, the story has several interesting twists and unexpected turns that kept me invested throughout. At its core, Foghorn Drowns is a surreal and thought-provoking story that blends dark themes with moments of hope, leaving plenty to think about once the journey comes to an end. 🎧 Sound: Foghorn Drowns doesn't feature any voice acting, but I actually think that works in its favor. The game doesn't need spoken dialogue to tell its story, instead relying on surreal symbolism, visual storytelling, and the atmosphere of its world to communicate its themes. Choosing not to include voice actors allows these elements to take center stage, which feels like the right decision for this type of experience. The soundtrack and sound design are both well executed. At times the game settles into calm, almost tranquil audio that encourages you to take in the world around you, while other moments shift toward more intense and surreal compositions that reinforce the darker parts of the narrative. The same can be said for the sound effects, which do a great job of supporting the game's constantly shifting mood without ever feeling overbearing. 📺 Visuals: The game's visual identity is one of its most defining features. Rather than chasing realism, Foghorn Drowns embraces a unique retro 3D art style inspired by the PlayStation 1 era, with chunky geometry, low-resolution textures, and an aesthetic that perfectly complements its surreal world. It feels as though the developers looked back at classic psychological horror games from that generation and set out to recreate the same unsettling atmosphere while telling their own dark, thought-provoking story. Although Foghorn Drowns is marketed as a horror game, I wouldn't really describe it as one. The game certainly has a dark setting and an eerie tone throughout, but it rarely aims to scare the player in a traditional sense. Instead, it uses its visual direction and atmosphere to reinforce the game's surreal and thought-provoking tone. Overall, the art direction is fantastic. Every location feels carefully crafted, and the retro presentation plays a huge role in making the world feel both mysterious and memorable. The developers have done an excellent job using the visual style to establish an atmosphere that remains one of the game's biggest highlights. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🏆 Overall: ( 7 / 10 ) Foghorn Drowns is a unique indie experience that knows exactly what it wants to be. While its short runtime leaves the story feeling a little rushed, I also found myself wishing the world had been larger and offered a few more gameplay features to make the journey feel more complete. A handful of puzzles, more in-depth minigames, or simply additional opportunities to explore and uncover more about the story, lore, and characters would have been welcome additions that gave the experience a bit more depth. Even so, the game succeeds in creating a memorable atmosphere and tells an intriguing story that made me want to see where it was going. Considering this is only the developer's second Steam release, it's an impressive effort that stands out through its originality and clear artistic vision. If they ever decide to create a longer game in the same style, I'd happily give it a try.
