About
The foghorns wake you, violent as ever. Another passenger has come to cross the fog.
In the dream you wander through the pines, and come upon a body. Innocent and young, murdered in cold blood. By your hand or another? Makes no difference now.
Foghorns Drown is a short psychological thriller, inspired by Silent Hill, Twin Peaks, and Mouthwashing. You play as a ferryman, bringing passengers across a foggy lake to a town drenched in mystery and folklore. The old ferryman has disappeared, and a murder has been committed.
How to tell real from dream when the dead speak again?
Physics-based interactions to open doors, drag objects, and operate the crank of the ferry to pull it along a rusty old chain. The foghorns have little patience, the ferry must move.
A rich, detailed narrative told through environmental clues, dialogue with the townsfolk, and surreal visions woven into your experience. The fog speaks to those who listen.
Psychological horror that escalate as truth begins to blur, and strange old tales begin to reveal themselves to you. Something in the water demands its toll.
Who is the killer? Why did the old ferryman disappear? Solve the mystery, before it's too late.

I love indie horror. this game feels intentional and knows what it wants to say. it doesn't rely as much on constant jump scares, it builds on a sort of oppressive atmosphere that sticks with you. the fog, the isolation, and the sound design all work together in a very satisfying way. this game is paced phenomenally. the story isn't a rush and lets the building tension breathe. every conversation, every detail, and every ferry ride set the hook more and more. the graphics are gorgeous for those of us who love that retro feel. I really did enjoy every minute in this world. the immersion and scenes made me worry about missing parts of the story, which I'm sure I did. the sound design and music really is incredible. the sadness and nostalgia feels raw and real. the music is immersive and sucked me further into the story. I took my time and the story took me about 2.5 hours, and I am sure there is more that I missed. this game is worth the time and money.
Foghorns Drown is a short, cozy horror game with the right amount of world-building and vibes that can distract you for a night.
Загальна атмосфера зацікавила, але темп занадто швидкий, Не вистачило елементу рутини в якій поступову зявлялись елементи горору. А так ти наче мчиш на потязі божевілля.
I love the visual style and atmosphere it creates, the gameplay of operating the ferry is engaging and I enjoyed the interactivity of the physics-based gaming. I couldn't understand the story/lore as much as I wanted to especially towards the end, but it still has an interesting narrative. However, I don't think the game is long enough, which is a bit of a shame as I played the demo and was quite excited to play the rest of the game, but in the end I felt like I needed more (I agree with some of the other comments on this). I also ran into some bug issues where the game was crashing (after dialogue for example, but hopefully this will be fixed). It does have great ambience and a very atmospheric feel, so if that's your vibe I would recommend this to you for a short play, however, for the reasons above I would have to say I don't recommend the game at this time.
A short narrative horror game. The experience focuses on atmosphere and suspense more so than big scares, and gameplay-wise it is definitely more of a walking sim. Absolutely wonderful soundtrack to accompany the beautiful lo-fi visuals. Loved it!

I've been eagerly awaiting the release of Foghorns Drown ever since the first demo released, which I had found on itch.io several months ago. The atmosphere that the demo introduced quickly peaked my curiosity, and I'm happy to say that carried over to the full release. The atmosphere and aesthetics of this game is top tier, and easily is the biggest praise I can give to this game. The sound design is very well done, the retro-3D/PSX style works very well, and the overall vibe is set quickly and is upheld through the entire game. I enjoyed the story being told, what little exploration was to be had, and overall would consider my time in this game enjoyable. In terms of what I disliked about this game, I only have two nitpicks. The first being the most obvious, the price tag. While this game is phenomenal in my opinion, $10 USD is quite high. I picked this game up in a bundle with other games to justify it a bit more. The second, being the length of the game, which does tie in with the pricing. I beat this game in just over an hour, and was able to get all but a single trophy (the optionally collectable tar) by skipping through dialogue in just a few minutes. I do think the game was a bit to short, and could have expanded upon certain things such as the ferry itself, the flash sequences, and adding either more things to read scattered around or more things to find while exploring outside of the optional tar. Those two things aside, this game is a solid 9/10, and I happy with my time spent on it.
