I bought this after reading the other positive reviews; unfortunately, I've had to give it the thumbs down for 2 main reasons. Firstly, the black background isn't at all black, it's a really grainy dark grey (looks like colour palette has been reduced to 256 colours and badly dithered). But the 2nd issue is the fact that upon exit, Kaspersky went crazy, saying that malware was on my computer (it detected fw.exe, which is the executable for this software) contained a trojan, and promptly deleted it. The fact that this hasn't even been out for a week, and it's being flagged as dangerous by antivirus an program means that this hasn't been tested by enough people on enough platforms to confirm if it's a false detection by my security software. But I'd rather not take any chances.
I really want to recommend this software as it can create some amazing visuals however there are several issues that make it less than ideal for use as a permanent wallpaper. The main issue is that as long as it is running, Steam will pick it up as an active game which it definitely isn't. This is a background application (literally) that shouldn't alert anyone that it is running as it is almost never going to be the application the user is actively interacting with. I'd rather have friends know what game I'm playing instead of what wallpaper I have set. My other main complaint is how janky this software is when starting up or transitioning state from active to inactive. The application should start up in the background with the window hidden and the desktop background should then transition to the fluid simulation rather than whatever you have set in the Windows settings. The on screen items should fade in gently to make this even less jarring and this application could even use the wallpaper set in Windows as the background for the simulation. I don't want to see windows pop up all over the place with the software's logo as it sorts out the correct resolution. When suspending the simulation to allow games to play smoothly the current simulation should fade out and leave either the blank scene or the default Windows wallpaper. Currently it shows a logo with text stating that the application is pausing which doesn't look great at all as it often isn't even centered properly and isn't something anyone wants as a desktop wallpaper. Overall, if this application truly ran in the background and seamlessly enabled itself and seamlessly transitioned from enabled to disabled I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a cool animated wallpaper. As it stands, this is more of a sandbox toy than an actual usable product which is unfortunate as it is clear a lot of effort has gone into the development of the actual simulation. I just wish for more polish from the user experience aspect of this product.
This... is immediately the greatest thing ever. 8/10. Would be 10/10 if you could select the color palette for the clicks and have a little more options. Another idea would be to allow the color changes to match up to peoples RGB software. That would be a 15/10 experience.
This a wonderful master piece at it's finest. A must have for any fan of PC Live Wallpaper. Beautiful to watch on your screen. Simple to understand and use. It's less than £3.00 on Steam. So go on give it a try.
VERY spectacular, and very well optimized, now it's running in my 3 1080p monitors at full speed. I've upload some screens in the community section, feel free to check it. As usual with this developer, the ratio in price/quality is just excellent. So far, it's my second favorite 3DM wallpaper, only after the great Planet Evolution. Looking at the screenshots and videos, I thought it was going to be too 'active' wallpaper, that only reacts to mouse clicks, but no, even when you can 'draw' stuff and it's very responsive, it also nicely draws stuff in the background. That's great for multimonitor, and having this in one monitor while you work in the others. For one monitor, I suggest using the freeware program 'Peek through' to make windows translucent and work with all this in the background, it's really inmersive. The other wallpapers works great with this program. The different sliders make a big impact in the overall feeling, and it's fun to play with and save them on the users presets. It would be nice to have more presets to save or to choose from. But what could be make this wallpaper a perfect 10/10, would be a 'dynamic' preset, to add variety for long sessions. The algorithm could be as simple as: 1. Set a random preset with a random position in every slider. 2. Set a random number of seconds, from 1 to 20, for example. Ideally it could be defined by the user (short-medium-long transitions). 3. Slide from current preset to the random preset during that random interval. It's important to change it dinamically, as this fits much better the fluidity nature of the wallpaper. 4. Maybe stay a few seconds in that preset, and go to point 1 again. An even better 'full' dynamic behaviour could be to have different presets at the same time in different parts of the screen (one fast and turbulent, another one slow and dense, for instance), but maybe this exceeds the limits of the shader or something. TLDR: A really excellent wallpaper for that price.
Awesome! 10/10 The sliders for High Gate and Bass Gate will probably need to be slid to the left a bit to detect most songs' sounds. I chose Cold for the High Gate, Full for Mid Gate, and Hot for Bass Gate. It is great with most songs that I've tried.
Beautiful colors, great animations, works without a problem, and most importantly, it doesn't overload the computer and you can play games.
Its ok, for day to day, what i mean is, you cant save any preset or settings you have done, if you play a game that requires full screen (DESPITE THE FACT YOU UNTICK THE BOX THAT SAYS "Stop when playing FULL-SCREEN games) it will still stop and wipe every setting you have set. You have to reset all your settings every single day you start your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ computer, stupid ♥♥♥♥ wont save the settings YOU SET. If it did, than, primo ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wallpapers but because it does not! ♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wallpaper app thing
Really awesome. I dont have any problems with this Wallpaper so far,im a huge Fan of 3DM and esp. Desktop Farm. I really enjoy having this on my Second Monitor while listening to Jazz or Swing,it adds a cozy feeling :) And thanks again for the Key <3
I havent seen anything else like it. Unique. And it's at a cheap price! give it a try! my 65' 4k tv looks like a big lava lamp / acid trip great for ambient music, or loud af. Or no music at all. Really does a great light show. For the price is great. I use it alot. the updates have really made it alot better.
