About
FleshBound is a fast paced and blood pumping demon-slaying speed running action platformer with a unique “splatterpunk” aesthetic. Traverse unique and dangerous environments by utilizing abilities like dash, wall-run and grapple. Explore the environment vertically through launchpads and see the world from a different perspective through the gravity inverters. Slay vile demons all along the way.
You play as Endo, a human incarcerated inside the fleshy walls of a living prison in hell, the Manifold. The sentence is harsh: be cocooned in place and slowly morph into a demon. One day a parasite attaches itself to Endo and begins communicating with him, offering a chance to escape his prison. Run!
15-20 minutes of playtime with high replayability
A first person action runner in an organic-looking hellscape environment
Dynamic traversal through grappling hook, wall run, jump pad, and gravity inversion mechanics
A minimalistic gameplay UI
A unique intense aesthetic inspired by punk, horror, comics, and older first person shooters
A high intensity industrial metal and techno soundtrack
FleshBound was developed during a 7 week project at FutureGames. Taking inspiration from games like Mirror's Edge, Ghostrunner, and Doom, we sought a fast, simple game loop where the challenge lies in mastering the balance between maintaining speed and control.
Leaning heavily on the design pillars of "Velocity, Visuals and Viscera", we quickly formulated the concept and with a visual style we can only describe as "Splatterpunk", the vision of the game was easily communicated both within the team and with external stakeholders.

As how the game currently is I cannot fully recommend it, sure it is a fun little speedrunning experience but this is riddled with bugs and bad design, first the audio for the characters is way too low even on 100%, second the songs are too damn loud overall, so sound design definitely needs some help here, third the bugs I encountered where the following: Whenever I tried to use the jump pads sometimes it would not launch me at the correct height to clear a jump, I even managed to somehow break the jumppad to skip the entirety of the last vertical section, next there is a bug where the character won't properly run along the blue walls and I can't clear some jumps because of it, even though I properly jumped into the blue walls. As for the bad design I mentioned, the dark/black parts of the flesh colored levels confused me into thinking there was a void but then I accidentally walked through the black and realized there was still ground there (totally confusing); then there's also the boss fight, hiding the gravity altering pad behind the button we just pushed was confusing and made me mad looking for where to go next before realizing the pad was behind the boss button in the first place, so that pissed me off. But well, if you don't mind some jank and want a quick speedrunning experience of a game you can make sure to give this one a try, I'm hoping for good things from this dev, they have ways to go lol
