Find And Kill The Evil King

This game was purchased out of a desire to support a fellow game developer. First of all I wanna congratulate them on completing this project. Even something small takes a considerable time and effort and the apparent lack of engagement on the part of Steam users is saddening and seems detrimental to overall improvement of this project. Uploading to itch.io or lowering/removing price tag in a future project could help attract more people. The evil king was not slain by my hand and most likely never will be as I have given up on the task due to difficulty it presented. The criticisms of gameplay, relatively short length, lack of any real progress in between runs and the punishing difficulty are obvious and as such I will not be getting into them. So instead I will be listing positive qualities in hopes the developer takes this information and focuses on their strongest parts in future projects. Art, creature designs and animations are charming and show a lot of heart. The gameplay itself has potential. It could be refined into something rather exquisite as in few rare occasions the stars aligned and attacks in my pool were powerful enough that the act of playing became enjoyable. The idea of a turn based RPG with card like mechanics is unique. The soundtrack goes hard and it is the one element I would not dare change one bit. Really fantastic work on composer's part. The game itself is not amazing but no early projects ever are. The positive rating is a reflection of the potential seen in this developer and game rather than the moment-to-moment quality itself which is lacking. It is a miracle that any game gets completed, even this one, and that completion is something that cannot be taken away from you. I wish you luck in your future endeavors.
