Even though I'm not typically a fighting games player, I absolutely love playing this one. It can get quite competitive, especially if you play it with someone online. The pixel art style is very cute and colorful, and the characters are funny and endearing, even when they are mercilessly kicking each other's butts. Each stage is unique, and its soundtrack can easily get stuck in your head for hours!
The game is awesome a complete call back to the early 2000s the style music sfx animations gameplay are all solid & not to mention the online matches are smooth as butter! hidden characters, loads of achievements if you like any 2d fighting games just download THIS asap! the only thing i could want is MORE !? DLC ?
Nice fighting fix on my Steam deck, really enjoyed playing so far, the AI is challenging. There is a funny story for each character which has made me giggle a few times. Seems it likes to poke bit of fun at pop culture.
Pretty good and fun game! Dev's did a great job on the porting. Had hours of fun and a trip down nostalgia lane. I loved that this game gives a nod to games from the 80's and 90's. Think Ghost n Goblins, Street fighter (specially SF Alpha) and maybe that movie 'Spaceballs'?? Afew other reviews mention that there is abit of a learning curve with this game, and I also found the same. But if you're familiar with Street Fighter II then you'll figure it out easy enough. Lots of game options to play and mess around with. I still have quite afew characters to figure out and even still trying to figure out the special moves (found a 16 hit combo is possible!). There's some hidden characters to unlock, which will be super fun to achieve. Hours of fun to be had here, I recommend this game highly if you're into fighters. kick ass sound track too. Not so crazy repetitive beep beeps like other games from the same era. The only down side for me was the visuals at first. Was hard on the eyes and im not use to this old school pixel stuff anymore. But that said, i've been smashing it out on a UHD 28" monitor and probably too close. I did see a tab mentioning that 'shaders' were on the way which might help these old eyes of mine. Overall, rate the game as a decent fun filler fighter. Grab the game, a controller and get into it for hours of fun.
I love FNJ on my Series X - ever since its initial release - and so I wanted to give this Steam version a try as soon as I had the chance. Well, I'm happy to report that the game on PC seems to run great and some upcoming extra features already make me want to see them on console as soon as possible (mmm shaders...). FNJ is probably my favourite indie fg to date. I simply cannot think of another similar title that - underneath its simplified mechanics and 3-button-based control scheme - boasts such a solid gameplay and compelling roster, ending up playing like a legit arcade classic, rather than a clumsy attempt to mimic modern and much more layered experiences. Unable to pick a single negative from FNJ, I recommend it to anyone is looking for a dose of nostalgia as well as an exciting fighting game with a burning '90s soul.
this game is freaking awesome. props to the folks that brought it back into the public eye 20+ years later
