No tutorial, have to figure things out. (I still don't know what the shovel is for) I initially didn't like it after 40 minutes of game play. It's a silent game. After spending more time on it, it grew on me. Reminded me of a watered down Stardew valley with a empty village. Lots of right clicking on everything to see if it does anything. ALT+F4 to exit. Crops start to spoil the next day, need to be sold or used. Some give you energy back. Not all crops have to be replanted. Crafting options. Manual watering only. Large map with a cave with skeletons in it. It's totally free with no micro transactions. Not the worst game nor the best game, more of a neutral rating. But overall I liked it oddly.

Game information:
(Simple)

This game is a very bland simple copy/pasted asset flip from the store with some minor changes here and there. There is no tutorial, no music/effects nor sounds, no quests/tasks and related and while playing for around 10-ish minutes try figuring things out I just simply didn't feel it. I mean, it looks funny to play while being bored but releasing a game like this without some actual original and unique changes.. It's not worth your time.

This game seems impressive at first; though it fell short. There is no tutorial. So it is a guessing game on how to do anything. Does the hat and clothes do anything? It seems pretty standard game and watering takes more time than needed. With day and night cycle may fit for plants, your character is no affected by this. Maintaining health is fairly simple. The map is decent for the size of the game and I do like the concept of the merchant in the empty town. Review at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN8Sv-AA1ws
I actually really liked this little demo, trying to figure it out without a tutorial did drive me a little insane. It took me a while to figure out how to equip and use tools and other things from the toolbar..........what you cant do with left click, right click will likely do it haha. I spent 10ish minutes before using the right click button to finally do the things I wanted to do. This was lovely and I enjoyed the art style, cute little game exactly what I like in a game, I also would like tasks or goals to do.
Farming Engine is a Unity asset flip cash gr... wait a minute. The asset flipper here is also the developer. He flipped his own asset, but made it free? Well, yes. Apparently this is one of the assets he's trying to sell on the Unity store and he's released it on Steam as a free demo to try to get people to buy his Unity asset. Presumably so they can make asset flips of it, which I'll then have to review. I guess it's a clever form of advertising. And because this is advertising, there's no way I can recommend it even if it's free. Ads on TV, Youtube and the web are free too, and nobody likes those. If this was a game, and not just an asset pack demo, it would fail on most criteria. Selecting windowed mode doesn't work and flips you to fullscreen anyway. Lazy, low poly graphics (Some of which look like someone else's Unity assets!). No tutorial, bugs, flimsy gameplay. If I wrote reviews for Unity asset store assets, I'd thumbs this down there, too. So while this is free, it's not really a game, and it's not really good. Adverts don't belong on Steam.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer makes the somewhat farcical claim this isn't an advertisement, but that's how everyone else sees it. It's a "free demo" for his asset pack... what's the difference? If it looks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, yeah... this is absolutely an advertisement. The developer claims they don't encourage asset flips but they've done everything possible to ensure this asset can be easily flipped by the usual Russian suspects, except make it an interesting game for them to want to flip. The developer claims that by advertising his game this way, it prevents asset flippers from flipping it. This is obviously wrong... the developer also flipped some of his other game assets as advertisements, here's one example: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198030784015/recommended/1507910?snr=1_5_9__402 As you can see the developers other work has been asset flipped already ("Little Big Guy", asset flipped by Albatross Idea and "PaperCraft", asset flipped by Cinnamancer Studios), so their claim of "protecting their IP" is simply garbage and he knows it. The developer also knows when he published his assets on the Unity Asset Store, he abandoned any legally enforceable rights to that intellectual property in place of the Unity Asset Store licensing agreement which confers the rights to his IP for the purpose of asset flips and cash grabs to anyone who buys it. Let's pretend the developer is being honest, despite the clear evidence that proves he isn't... he's just admitted he's dumped a non-game onto Steam, without any intention for it to be treated as a game. This is basically polluting the store and abusing Steam for purposes it was not intended for. If the developer is being honest, this is highly unethical and this asset pack should be removed immediately from Steam for abusing the platform. It's unclear why the developer has been so dishonest here, especially in the face of easily provable facts that dismantle his absurd claims. Perhaps the relationship between Unity asset flippers and the people who enable and profit from that behaviour is not as distant as we imagined.
The game shows promise, however still needs a lot of work done in order for it to be worthy of proper release. There are a lot of similarities to other games and the UI has a similar feel to Don't Starve. The graphics are cute but the game play is lacking in many ways. I will not recommend this game at this time as there needs to be more work done by the devs. There is no multi sow function, each seed to be selected to be sown individually, makes it tedious at best. There is no character customization, there is no tutorial either, if you are not familiar with farming games then you might struggle to figure things out. The menu only has 3 buttons and non of them worked. I had to Alt+Tab to get out of the game. I will come back to this game again in the future but for now I will give it a skip until there is improvement.
