Farlands Journey

Making a review because as of writing there are none. This game is very short but also has a lot of charm packed into it. I randomly discovered it from a stray YouTube home page video and was interested because it reminded me of classic Rayman on the Playstation and other later MS-DOS era games. The story of the game is extremely simple which is perfectly fine because that is par for the course for the games it's most likely inspired by. I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the soundtrack of the game because it is REALLY good. The actual levels themselves have very solid themes and varied aesthetics BUT I do feel like they could have been even better if there were more enemy types. There's a small selection of enemies that get repeated through each level and those aren't bad but I think having enemies that matched the themes of the levels would have gone a long way. Another gameplay issue I have is that the bosses, whenever they do appear, are extremely rudimentary and don't really make full use of your abilities with the bubble wand. They all go down pretty fast, including the final boss. Which is a shame because I really like how the wand system itself works and how the bubble wand opens up more platforming opportunities, I think an expansion on this core concept could be very good. The bubble being your default makes a lot of sense for traversal and I think that having to aim away from surfaces to make sure your attack manifests prevents the game from being completely brain dead to play as you're going through levels. I don't think I encountered all of the different wand transformations you can obtain but the one's that I did run into were pretty amusing. Overall it's a really cute game that I definitely think is worth playing for anyone looking for a retro style platforming experience of some kind, and it's not going to take up much of your time either. And again the music is pretty damn good, I think this team could make some great things if they expand on what they have here. Not necessarily a sequel but just making a more complex platformer.

Gameboy Spiele wie Super Mario, Rayman aber auch Kirby's Dreamland erinnert. Wir bekämpfen Schweine die aus unserer Zauberschule etwas gestohlen haben und wir versuchen als Magical Girl es zurück zu erbeuten. Dabei durchschreiten wir verschiedenste Level mit jeweils unterschiedlichem Theme und Environment im Retro 2D Design. Das Gimmick? Wir haben einen Zauberstab der verschiedene Kräfte auflesen kann, so feuern wir zum Beispiel Sterne ab, Leuchtkugeln oder Seifenblasen, letzteres ist zwar in der Reichweite begrenzt, hat aber eine Große Hitbox und kann auch als Pogostick für Aufwärtsmomentum genutzt werden. Außerdem haben die Gegner oft verschiedene Hüte auf, welche wir als einmaligen Schutz tragen und deren Effekte übernehmen können. So kann der Vikingerhelm z.B. Blöcke von unten Zerschmettern, Der Bergarbeiterhelm leuchten, Die Fliegermütze lässt uns dauerhaft sprinten und der Flügelhelm bei gehaltener Sprungtaste etwas gleiten. Dieses Spiel verdient wesentlich mehr Liebe und kostet ohne Angebote weniger als eure liebsten Retro Games auf dem Flohmarkt, kann aber einiges mehr als viele von denen. Was mir persönlich noch etwas gefehlt hat sind passende Bosskämpfe. Irgendwie waren mir das etwas zu wenig. Rating: Dito: 4.7/5 Chat: 4.54/5 Gesamt: 4.62/5

Хороший платформер, очень приятная графика, напоминает чем-то игры с амиги и доса. Чудеснейшая музыка, приятное управление и интересная механика боя с надуванием пузырей, оригинально. Единственный минус для меня, это то что надо найти все пазлы, чтобы попасть в последний уровень, я не осилил, несколько раз пробегал некоторые уровни и не смог найти.
