I guess this series is joing ombie Exodus Safe Haven as that game series that you're super into but have to wait years for each installment.

They already had me with the first book but Retribution continues its strong game. 10/10
(short play time, because I played it twice on mobile already) I already left a review for the previous game so I'm going to make this one short. Like the previous game, it is absolutely great, you still have a very large amount of choice and the game is incredibly reactive. It is even longer than the previous one, it's one of the longest Choice of Games out there, and every moment is a delight (in the sense that it is thrilling and somber and captured my entire brain the whole time). A welcome addition to this second part is that the more important parts of your character's backstory are revealed, which gives them a lot of depth and perspective. Strucurally it is a strange choice to put that in the second book rather than the first, but the prose is so compelling I never really minded. There are also new romancable characters! I decided not to pursue one in the first book as that didn't really matched my character, but the
Lady Argent
romance was awesome for my character, and the way I had built her personnality so far. On my two different playthrough I had two vastly different endings (and I heard there are even more), which I find both amazing and a little worrying because I wonder how the author will start the third volume withour having to write like, six entirely different books. But given their work so far, I have high confidence they will land on their feet and deliver another amazing story!
I cried for 40 minutes straight during one long scene. I don't trust it to actually have many choices after the first one. It feels like they mostly change how your character thinks, so how you feel emotionally. The emotions guide the player and most of their choices. Just like in the first one I don't feel like any of the setups had payoffs, it will be resolved in the next two. Once again it feels like a guided story (and you only slightly choosing the flavour and spices on it), but it's an incredible one. It took me about 70% more time to finish than the first one (5.7 v 9.7 hours), both of them are definitely worth the price. There are some continuity errors and description errors, but it feels like they mostly don't matter as you can override your previous choice/shift your emotions into what you want/ed.
i like being a little sh*t :D

Deserves all the praise it gets ! *2 Second book of the series, and now even more things make sense. The amount of variables is *crazier*, and characters I didn't pick up in the first game got to shine (or start to) in Retribution. I seriously cannot wait to learn more about them in Revelations ! The spicy scenes were very well made and tickled my romantic bone enough, that I cannot wait for the angst and drama to come in the future. I guess I can simply go and replay the first two books and try different paths instead while waiting for book 3 (which might take some more time to be finalized).
honestly embarrassing that i hadn't written reviews for this or Rebirth yet but i'm here now. ...just to preface: as you can see from my playtime, I am Very Normal about these games. Retribution in particular makes me kind of crazy. i Love the way it builds on the previous game, i loveee all of the different branching paths and lore details in it, i love the way Literally All Of Your Choices Matter in SOME way. i could go on or into detail but we could be here all day. this ♥♥♥♥ makes me foam at the mouth a bit. idc how long it takes i Will be buying Revelations the day it drops. 10/10 peak
