A second instalment that somehow manages to top the heights of the first one, good lord! Anyway I love it, highly recommend the series to anyone who likes interactive fiction games and have even a fleeting interest in the concept

Can't say a word after playthrough...... Never played a game so touched like this before

Fallen Hero reminds me a lot of a good, long, angsty fanfic. I mean this in both a good and bad way. It's self-indulgent in its emotions and character interactions and lighter on plot and forward momentum, which results in a delicious in-the-moment experience, but a lingering feeling that not a lot actually happened for the word count. The mysteries and plot threads that it sets up are fascinating and engaging, but two books in are still being set up. The individual installments lack a sense of resolution when they end, although I still have high hopes for when the series is finished—I suspect the finished series will be best considered as a single, long story, rather than a series of four books, if that makes sense. I'd recommend it for people who enjoy character angst and relationship-building, with a side of tantalizing backstory mystery, and don't care so much about tight plotting and pacing.

Malin is an amazing author. The man understands that the reader (me) ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hates fluff and unnecessary exposition. No. You are Sidestep and you want to be a supervillain for whatever reason you think justifies your crusade. I really appreciate how each scene serves a role in developing Sidestep's relationship with the characters. There's never not some tension, positive or otherwise. I mean, how could there be when the role you play is diametrically opposed to theirs? Retribution stews in constant conflict and is much better than your average IF for it. Купувала в Стімі, але грала на телефоні :) Я, можливо, ще повернуся до цього відгуку та зроблю його більш розлогим, але поки що відчуваю гостру необхідність додати до рейтингу цієї гри в Стімі ще один палець вгору. Мені пощастило, що першу частину я пройшла влітку 2022-го, тож не довелося довго чекати на продовження. Не зовсім пощастило, що це була перша повноцінна ІФ-гра, яку я пройшла, і що тепер всі інші ігри цієї категорії так чи інакше підсвідомо порівнюються з нею. Досить серйозне таке мірило вийшло. :') Не знаю, чи є сенс писати про об'єктивні переваги, бо загалом я їх прописала в рецензії на першу частину, і все, що було там, стало набагато краще тут. Чого не вистачало — автор додав. Більше про минуле та сутність ГГ, про мотивацію, більше кастомізації його/її/їхньої діяльності, більше романтичних опцій (тепер можна романсити весь загін супергероїв), більше екшену, небезпеки та драми. А фінал взагалі абсолютне [b]сінема.[/b] :’D Несамовито люблю цю серію, і тепер трохи (зооовсім трохи) переймаюся за третю частину — чи можливо взагалі перевершити Retribution? Особливо з урахуванням купи розгалужень з перших двох частин та того факту, що автор додає ще більше романтичних опцій для тих, хто грає чистими злодіями або поліаморними персонажами. Подумки надсилаю автору промінчики сил та творчої наснаги, бо обсяг роботи, який вимагають ці ігри, просто нереальний. На час написання цього відгуку вже існує шматочок публічного демо третьої частини, тому після фіналу другої вже можна трохи втамувати свій ФХ-шний голод :DD
