First off let me clarify two points. One - I had originally played this game on my iPad, so my Steam hours do not represent the total hours I have played. Two - the developer kindly sent me a free Steam key as they are no longer able to support the iOS version. Though if you are interested, as to the date of this review, the developer has assured me the iOS version is still quite playable, which I can confirm. I have played the game to it's completion and then some. It is one of the most enjoyable casual games I have played. At the beginning there seems little to consider when it comes to playing. Just join pipes together and attack the enemy. Though as you progress, equipment becomes more important and the spells and abilities you choose for your characters becomes more of a tactical choice. The connection of pipes becomes much more interesting and tactical with the introduction of gems in the pipes. The combat, while easy to understand and play, is more involved than you first think. You can take your time to map out a pipe connection as the game is turn based. I found the story to be quite enjoyable as well. While it is certainly no best seller novel, it is a story that has meaning and emotions that rises well above the trivia usually experienced in a casual rpg story. At it's full price I can definitely recommend this game. If you can get a discount then don't hesitate....really. I would also recommend perhaps getting the mobile version. Though it appears the game has no cross platform saving so that may help your decision or not. While I do not have accurate figures on my play time with the iOS version it was easily a 15 hour plus game. And without giving any spoilers, when the game ends... it doesn't. ;) This is a game that shows the developers had real passion in it's development. The interface is no frills but it works with both mouse or gamepad without fault. Though I still haven't worked out how to close the game rather than a Alt/Tab?? Yes it is a casual type of game. But that is not a bad thing. It is refreshing to find a game where I can leave it for a week or two and come back and immediately get back into the game play and the story line. This game gets my "Just buy it" recommendation.

Cute puzzle-based RPG game. The battle system is a combination of pipe-puzzles (how long can you make yours go, etc) with other modifiers such as BP and attack level EXP that limit the total attack possible. The localization is a bit awkward at times but the story is perfectly serviceable. The semi-chibi art is very cute. The biggest issues with this game are related to battles. This is something that happens in anything similar but the puzzle system can be a bit much for random encounters on the map, of which there are many. I also couldn't figure out a way to escape these battles but that might be a me problem. Essentially too much hands-on combat that needs your attention (if you pick "Auto", it just does a single weapon attack which doesn't win a whole lot of these random encounter battles). If the random encounter ratio were dropped a bit it would help alleviate this issue.
Cute game with a lot of silly in its comedy. I liked it. Auto option could be better, the auto is way too dumb XD not worth using it, unless you're trying to kill weaker monsters for XP
Simple, fun and adorable game. I loved the chibby characters and the nice story :3
To put it bluntly, I truly love this game. I love its entire long journey, from the very first step to the very end. Except for the boring and pretentious puzzle battles. Those are absolutely not my thing. Nine years ago, I spent a long time playing another puzzle-battle game that I really enjoyed. It was fast, energetic, and satisfying. Fairy Knights has none of that. Instead, its battles demand enough thought to become mentally exhausting, then frequently punish you for thinking ahead at all. You can spend time planning a large, satisfying chain, only for a smaller connection to complete itself first and immediately trigger an attack, ruining the entire setup. This is not a bug. It is simply how the combat system works. I am sure this combat system has its audience. I am simply not part of it. Even so, this game is worth buying and seeing through to the end. This review contains both indirect and direct spoilers. Anyone considering buying the game, or anyone who has only just started playing it, should probably stop reading here. At first, I thought this was going to be a Disney-style fairy tale. A bratty protagonist. A bargain-bin female mage with strong con-artist energy. An adorable animal companion. Why do I always end up buying games like this? They always look cute and lovable. They always feature charming characters. And somehow, every single time, there is something hiding underneath that drags me all the way down into the darkest part of the abyss. These games are more bitter than a bar of 100% cacao chocolate. Do I have some kind of sensor for this wired into my peripheral nervous system? Beneath its gentle appearance, Fairy Knights is a remarkably brutal game. I am not speaking of blood or gore. I mean that its story repeatedly lands critical hits directly on the player's emotions. It is such a mean game. Everyone should have sung some songs, danced around a little, overcome a few reasonably difficult trials, and ended the story with, "And then the hero and his girlfriend lived happily ever after." But this world just keeps driving cold knives into the protagonist's heart. I'd have completely lost it in his place. And yet, I love this story so much. It feels like a first love. There were so many warm and happy memories, and now every one of them is gone. Honestly, this game could easily be accused of piling on the misery. But I love that awful part of it. It is a magnificent story about how human greed and the selfishness of the world can utterly destroy an innocent person. Maybe I was simply getting carried away, but the ending even made me think about the uglier parts of reality: a world soaked in hatred, people pointing fingers at one another, and petty selfishness pushing them across lines that no human being should ever cross, leaving wounds both large and small on everyone around them. That may not have been the game's intended message at all. It was simply what I saw in it. As though the world had finally decided it was done putting up with humanity, the game eventually presents a scene that, to me, looked almost like the day the biblical Flood began. And standing beside it all is the protagonist, now lonely, broken, and painfully small. Oh my God. That contrast, to me, is art taken to its absolute extreme. I honestly don't have the words to describe what a masterpiece this is. If Fairy Knights were ever adapted into a Netflix series or a movie, I believe it would be a huge success. I'd bet my friend's entire Steam library on it. This game also deserves a place on the list of games everyone should experience before they die. I sincerely mean that. To every person who helped create this game, I offer my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude. Thank you for making Fairy Knights.
