Expeditions: Rome 2 is an impressive tactical RPG that shines brightest when it leans into its combat systems. Visually, the game looks great with crisp environments, strong character designs, and battles that are easy to read while still feeling cinematic. The isometric, turn-based combat is where the game really excels, offering deep tactical opportunities that reward positioning, squad composition, and smart use of abilities. The final chapter in particular stands out, delivering some of the most engaging and satisfying encounters in the game, redeeming some of the slog in the earlier parts of the game (more on that below) The campaign is structured across four chapters and split into two distinct layers: legion and resource management on one side, and tactical battles on the other. While this dual-dimension design is ambitious, the management layer often feels like a slog (and I did take over 100 hours to get to the end). Managing resources and legions becomes repetitive over time and occasionally slows the overall pacing, especially when you’re eager to get back into combat. Narratively, the alternate-history take on Rome is interesting and fits well alongside the studio’s previous titles. Having played Expeditions: Vikings and Expeditions: Conquistador, this feels like a solid third panel in the trilogy though personally, the first two games still resonate more strongly with me (both had me feverishly looking forward to getting home to continue playing). Overall, Expeditions: Rome 2 is a good game with moments of real excellence, held back by its overbearing management systems. Still, if the studio ever resurrects and resumes production on the Expeditions series, I’d absolutely line up to see whether the next entry is worth it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Редкосная ахинея, но про Рим!!!
FEM!Caesar\Cato the Younger is now my favorite crackship, thanks devs
Game is playable but not enjoyable as second part of it is just mindless grind. So Act 1 & 2 are ok but 3 and 4 are boring. It is obvious that lazy devs ran out of ideas after Act 2 and just served up filler to bloat the game. Pros: Decent story Good graphics Good voice acting Cleopatra's tities Cons: No meaningful upgrades past Act 2 Bloated inventory with copies of the same weapons and armors in multiple versions (one for each region) Spamming world map with annoying random events that have only one purpose: injure one or two of your companions to create artificial challenge during fights as your squad will not be at full strength It takes way too long to fully heal injuries (days) artificially prolonging the game Camp upgrades are completely useless as changes are so minuscule that you will not feel a thing Crafting is as useless as camp upgrades as they randomized stats/skills you can get which means that more often than not your crafted weapon/armor is basically the same as what you already have with just different, often mismatched, skill/stats Another idiocy with crafting is that it happens that you get for ex. slashing upgrade on weapons that do just piercing damage or the other way around so quite often to get something that actually feels like an upgrade, you have to reload/retry quite often Similar idiocy applies to skills, especially on bows, so when crafting it, you might get two skills with limited use and one with some condition that limits your accuracy/damage. Good luck trying to fight with a weapon like that on longer/bigger fights where after 5 shots you are basically out of ammo I am not even sure if those are actualy random because more often than not, when crafting, you will get good stats with useless skills or decent skills with minimal stats. That pattern does not feel random. It looks like yet another way to add more frustration so you can enjoy the game longer During fights, numbers you see for hit/pen chance or resistances on enemies are basically a lie as you will be missing 80-85% chance shots (archers) a lot and glancing more often than not when hitting enemies with just 15-20% resistance for that type of damage. On the other hand, enemies have no issues doing full damage hitting your companions that have 35-50% resistance for that particular damage type So it feels like game silently lowers your stats by like 20-25% of what you see and buffs enemies by that amount to artificially create challenge Because of that you will be missing/glancing many shots/attacks and in some fights that means many reloads to get better "luck" In the later game many enemies will be spamming fire damage attacks and of course there are no real opportunities in game to actually upgrade resistance to it. Load up on water jugs as you'll need them often. That seems like yet another lazy way to create a challenge by spamming damage type that you have the least opportunity to develop resistance to during the course of the game Another annoyance is when game, during some missions, strips weapons/armor from all your team and after you are done, does not automatically re-equip. If you happen to have large inventory, you better have good memory to restore everything to the way you had it before. Otherwise you have to reload older save, take note of your setups, come back and waste time re-equiping everyone manually. Even though I did not enjoy it, I finished the game as there was no way for me to get refund, but I already uninstalled it as there is zero replayability in this "masterpiece"
