About
EverWorld is a procedurally generated life sim with deeply simulated artificial intelligence.
- Randomised world - deeply detailed and uniquely generated for you
- NPCs with personality - NPCs that have goals, personality, opinions and memory - they make decisions and talk to each other about real things in the world
- Everything is a thing - if you can see it, it's real and you can interact with it
- Deep simulation - the world progresses whether the player engages or not
- Life simulation - NPCs actually go to work, actually do jobs and fulfil their own day to day wants and needs
- Free text dialogue - say anything to NPCs (current contextual understanding is limited but growing every update - they might not understand everything but they'll try!)
- Dynamic quests - Daily quests plus NPCs will raise their own quest based on real wants and needs
- Dynamic crafting - Discover recipes and use any material with the right properties to craft items
- No loading screens - Building interiors are no different from the world outside

I am not going to refund, only because I sincerely hope this becomes something. This is pre-alpha at best. Nothing really works. I can kind-of see an Ultima-ish sort of game play with typing conversations with NPCs, and I dig it. But right now, it is in need of HEAVY work. There is no music, equipping a sword and shield (that you get from a starter chest) makes it so you kind-of block in two different fashions and cannot swing your sword.. then if you un-equip the shield.. you cannot swing you sword any longer. You just sort of.. bring your sword up to block a couple different ways. The spell books you get? I have no idea how you are supposed to use them. I was walking along the shore and kept seeing these large yellow.. pillar things? I pressed "E" (to pick up stuff).. and they are plants? This needs a LOT of work before I would even put it out EA. Like, A LOT. I don't really mind the blocky odd style because I generally like to look for games that aren't AAA. I love to support indie developers and their visions of what they want to give to the world. I can see a sliver of something here.. but it needs a lot more time of development before it can even be considered an alpha state. The AI idea and conversations.. and responding to players input.. it's really cool. Work on this. Like I said, it reminds me of the old Ultima series where you would have to type in words to NPCs to elicit responses to information you needed. I cannot, in good faith, recommend this as a playable game to anyone. If I were to wager, it would need a good year at least and with some folks helping before it is worth a purchase. That criticism aside, however, I will keep my eye on this and not refund it, because I do see something here. It just needs a whole lot of TLC before I can update my review. EDIT: Grammatical errors are also needing to be addressed (strawberrys?). Also, there is no jump? And swimming.. well, it's not so much swimming as you just run along the bottom of the seabed to the other side. I made it to a "village" that was empty. This needs a lot of work dev(s). This is barely a tech demo. The only thing I see of promise right now is the chat system with NPCs.. which doesn't do much. I met two women at the beginning and they followed me around. I tried to talk to them using the in-game chat commands and they responded.. "what did you say?". No matter what. Also, the info bar you get when scrolling over an NPC is blurry. I am trying so hard not to be so negative because if this is given another year or two it could be a nice EA experience. For now, though.. man, oh man.

This game has a lot of potential to be a great sandbox rpg but in its current state its too early to say , the UI needs a lot of work as well as the the textures, right now in its current state there just isn't enough to do no skills like crafting or fishing or basic rpg elements, I can see this game being really good in the future. But as of right now its just a baby.
My expectations for this "game" were extremely low. More than anything I bought it to see how well the features it claimed to have had been implemented. The "economy", the AI implementation, specifically the chat features, and lastly, the procedural world generation. I saw the game trailers, and art, and even looked up the devs website, all red flags, but all ignored anyway. The dev website is barren, with 3 links to other games. One an app on Google play, another a free game on itch, and lastly this game, all on a white background. And yet, somehow I still expected this game to be playable. Well, its not. Again, my expectations were low, ridiculously low. But I'm still really disappointed. This felt like a free template you'd install along side Unity, or Unreal, just to test the engine, not a game. The other reviews feel so fake now, because there ARE NO FEATURES! You can hit people with a sword, they'll say ouch. You can't hit them with the other tools. They will not die, no matter how much you hit them. Their affection points seem pointless, as they'll drop if they are hit, but they'll go up if you just type anything in their presence, even nonsense. And ever other listed "opinion" seems not align with anything. When I started the game, I pushed "load game" which is something I also do first, and oddly enough it dropped my right into a game, as a nameless person, on top of a campfire. It was weird, and I was called "player". I ran around a little bit, and then saw there was...nothing to this world but really bad green blocky geometry, WORSE then voxels, as they all seemed connected and uninteractable, and some static resources like trees, rocks and badly made blocky building with empty interiors everywhere. I could look into chests, but they wouldn't open. Your inventory menu leads to a crafting screen. I don't think any of your health features...work? Doesn't seem so. And the movement is so slow you MUST sprint to make progress anywhere. I almost assumed the game would be different if I quit and properly pressed "new game". Well, did. When pressing "new game", now you can give your character a name. I did so, and then, THIS TIME...I was plopped into a strange person named "Garcio" or something's house, in his bed, while he was oddly sprawled out on that bed as well. I laughed, "is his my husband", but then he awkwardly says, "Hello, my name is Garcio", so clearly we don't know each other. He gets out of the bed, grabs a pick axe, and with the most broken, smoothlobed looking animation I've ever seen, he walks out the house and off into the distance, and doesn't come back. I talk to him, saying his name, asking him to wait, and he doesn't respond. I then go to a woman's house next door, it a one room house that's fully empty, and she stands there...doing nothing, saying nothing, I talk to her, she doesn't respond, and then I type many lines of nonsense over and over and watch her affection rise with pure golden phrase like "ldjaodjaos", which she seems to take kindly to. I then realize I overclocked the text box, because the text is stuck on screen and won't go away, and my computer starts missing frames as I try to run around the little town. Suddenly I realize.... This is trash. The UI looks like something someone gave away for free. The actual controls are pitiful, the game has no content or substance. The most anyone will say is "hey." "hi" or "Hello my name is" or they'll tell you they are busy if you attack them with your sword. Nothing works, even in the slightest way, I'm surprised a game this unmade even loads up, but I know that's Unity pulling most of the weight with that one. Did I say the graphics are bad? Anyway, I feel I lost few,... million brain cells just...looking at this game. And I need to go lay down. I'm ...I'm tired. I can't. I'll worry about this later, when my refund comes in. Thank God for steam refunds.
TheBad (the good is below): - conversation is biggest scam, its far from even considerably intelligent AI as is this game advertised. Eg ai understands hello whats your name, or do you know the player XXX? Or Hi, Hey. But they dont understand just merged two those sentences together. "Hi, whats your name?" It doesnt understand, it understands "Whats your name" and "Hi" only separately, it though wont understand "My name is XYZ" You cant discuss anything profound, existential or substantial or offtopic, as those seems to be a few precoded sentences templates like "What you are doing", "What are your hobbies", "Colors", "What you like" at best. They dont seem to understand stuff like "Do you like cakes" or anything. Its just feels very restrained unusable. And at this point I am not even interested in finding out more of it. Biggest disappointed wrapping something like that like cool conversations, while perhaps a big effort, its very misleading, in current age of games like verbal verdict, dreamio, suck up, ai people , snatched.yonder.gg or deathbyai.gg. "say anything to NPCs (they might not understand everything but they'll try!)" This is very bad, misleading , shady formulation. understanding Do you know name X1, vs do you know name X2 doesnt equalts it tried understanding anything just because it can extract a name from the sentence "Do you know player XXX". And no, they wont try at all, thats again a wrapped straight lie, even with exclamation mark. Are you having a good cynic laugh? How trying yet not understanding changes the fact, that it doesnt understand, "Uh sorry I tried but i dont understand still?" . No, computers not that might not understand everything, you can say that even about the top nobel price winner or best ai llm out there. They outright wont understand almost anything and thats a huge leap difference. As the most intelligent person ever walked the earth and the least intelligent one ever, both wont understand something but are they the same? The good: - there are seemingly some routines , people go to sleep I think ( though not quite sure), wake up, chat with each other seemingly sensible contents - every house enterable, quite big houses, furnitures, and seemingly properly build with many/multiple adjacent rooms. - day night cycle, weather cycle, raining - people seemingly walk sensibly somewhere and back, or to some persons, group, they look they dont just loop in a circle - conversation turns around some predefined pre-learnt sentences with some dynamic variables not true AI LLM as it might look its advertised, especially in current era of llms as advertised "deeply detailed and uniquely generated for you - NPCs with personality - NPCs that have goals, personality, opinions and memory - they make decisions and talk to each other about real things in the world - Deep simulation - the world progresses whether the player engages or not - Life simulation - NPCs actually go to work, actually do jobs and fulfil their own day to day wants and needs - Free text dialogue - say anything to NPCs (they might not understand everything but they'll try!)" - graphics is weak but still looks somehow tolerable almost good but not quite there There is some potential, there is some small portion of that what promised but only significantly small, but promises , game descriptions are huge and exaggerated to what is available and delivered. Its almost like calling first offline computer text chat programs chatGPT
Game is seemingly abandoned by the developers. No updates since April 2025. The video clams "Deep AI" but the truth is, they only understand very few phrases and forget what they're talking about. Not to mention they say "I have to leave" as soon as you say hello, or ask them a question if you manage to get them to say hello back. They get stuck and require you to teleport them. Just overall not a great experience. If the rest of the game was broken and the chatting worked well, I would have given this game a thumbs up, but it is very difficult to warrant a buy for this game in its current state.
Very good graphics, random world, dynamic quests & crafting. I thought that the chat with NPC's is like the most other games but it's a free text mode where you actually chat with them! Keep in mind the game is on early stage so expect lots of updates and improvements over time. Support indie devs!
What was once thought abandoned has been given a breath of life so for that I will switch my rating from negative to positive. :) (Actual review pending)
I would not this at the moment but with a open mind this game could eventualy work . But it looks like the Dev is working on it the updates look current and with some patients this game could really shine .
