Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 20.86/day in the week to Aug 11 → 25.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Esoteric Ebb is an isometric, Disco-like, TTRPG-turned-CRPG set in a bizarre post-Arcanepunk fantasy setting. You are The Cleric, an expert in esoteric events, and a glorified government goon. Inspired by classic CRPG games, Esoteric Ebb features deep and branching dialogs with a staggering amount of choices.
Create the world’s worst cleric. Take on the city through tense TTRPG dice rolls. Struggle to maintain control with your Stats chiming in at every moment. Let the voices guide you into insane encounters and hit that natural 20 right when you need it. Become the most interesting player at the table and completely ruin your DM’s day.
Five days until the first-ever election, a tea shop explodes in the heart of the city. They send you to deal with the mess.
You wake up in a morgue with half the river in your boots, surrounded by ten thousand rotting apples, several corpses, and one zombie. Out of your depth and with no official backup, you delve into your beloved city to investigate the impossible mystery no one wants you to solve. Juggle factions and play them against each other. Explore the streets and tunnels of a fantasy metropolis. Debate devils, drunk sphinxes, and all manner of fantastical fools in a world where mythological creatures sell newspapers at corner shops and ideologies overtake the ramblings of dead gods.

Don’t forget the most important question: What are you voting in the election?
MAKE CHOICES THAT WILL COME BACK TO BITE YOU. Shifting alliances! Risky dungeoneering! Complete open-ended quests, low and high-stakes alike, set in the streets, towers, and dark tunnels of Norvik. Become the city’s savior, its demise, or bumble your way into absolute power.
TRUST THE DICE. Let chance guide you! Roll to wrestle dwarves, steal anything in sight, or to keep yourself from looking like a complete fool. But remember, in true TTRPG fashion, failure can often be way more interesting.

IT'S ALL IN YOUR HEAD. Debate yourself! Each Ability Stat has a conflicting viewpoint and loves to interrupt important conversations. No matter whose side you fall on, you'll complete quests in wonderfully ridiculous ways.

WIELD REALITY-SHAPING MAGIC. Use The Cleric’s power for unique narrative choices. Control minds for fun and profit. Detect secrets in the tunnels below or in the thoughts of your enemies. Speak with anyone, living or dead, just to see how they insult you.

TURN-BASED ENCOUNTERS. Clerics in Norvik are taught to use violence as a last resort. When the need does arise, a roll of the dice determines life or death. But you always have a bizarre solution to any problem, don’t you?

THE QUESTING TREE. Your quest log, skill tree, and mind map all at once. Each Quest Branch can take root in your mind and alter The Cleric’s playstyle through game-changing feats.

A mystery/detective story where there is one clue you need to progress to the end, and everyone you interact with either tells you nothing of consequence, or they repeat the one clue, and to find that one clue I wasted 3 hours backtracking everywhere and everything before having to look at a guide that says "oh yeah once you've completed this side quest remember to interact with the item in a certain way and then reconfigure a thing then wander to a certain location and press a button on the UI and you can continue with the plot". Combined with the largely dull characterisation of the internal voices, the relatively uninteresting and whiny protagonist, and the endless walls of front-loaded loredump that I found myself skipping through because they just went on and on and on about age X, age Y, age Z, I didn't really enjoy the game. I played through the end because I still had no idea where the plot was actually doing until the last moment, at which point I sort of shrugged.

Good Gameplay, good concept. Preachy and political only to one side to the point where you do not want to play the game anymore. If they could've made the same game but allowed other beliefs and concepts to exist without telling you you're an idiot for it, I would continue to play. There are far better games that do not sit you down like a child mid dialogue when you try and make a decision. This is very upsetting because the gameplay itself is well designed, the game itself is great. The topics are heavily in one direction and make in un-fun to play.
I dislike this game. It makes no logical sense. For example: I lost 4 HP just for asking questions early on. Apparently self doubts cause actual physical damage and potentital death... if that were true I would be dead several hundred times over IRL. Then a little later I shook some sand out of my ears and got 4 HP back! WHAT?! How does that work?! Make it make sense! This is not D&D, this is someones twisted version of it - House Ruled to the point that it only vaguely resembles D&D! Then we should consider the character gen used for this game. I managed 10 strength, 6 Dexterity, 10 Constitution, 16 Intelligence, 14 Wisdom and 10 Charisma. Those are really bad stats. Its point buy and you start with 6 in each stat, +2 to one stat and +1 to another from background. or +3 to one stat. The stats have been changed so that they manage everything and there are no skills. Just proficiencies with stats. Your spell casting is based on intelligence and wisdom, hence my build mentioned above. You are a Cleric in name only, in actual fact you are more like a mix of cleric and wizard, since you have a spellbook and limited access to spells known.... You have to find scrolls to add more spells to your spellbook, like a wizard... Like I said, this is not D&D...
The only "critique" I might come up with would be: Disco Elysium exists. Highly enjoyable game experience.
An interesting idea, but for me it misses the mark visually and thematically compared to its peers.
Stop me if you've heard this one. You're a law enforcement officer, you wake up after being dead for a day or two, you need to solve a whodunnit mystery together with a very helpful sidekick, the world around you is eerily familiar and still a little off, everyone seems to have an opinion on politics, and these damn colour-coded voices in your head just won't stop arguing, with you or with each other. Oh, you stopped me a while ago? It's Disco Elysium, you say? Yes, quite close and obviously inspired by it, but...no, this is a different beast. For one, it's using D&D terms and names and mechanics loosely adapted to a more freeform storytelling game. The combat is much more open-ended, a choose-your-own-adventure type of deal. You don't roll 2d6 like in Disco, you roll a single d20. You still get to equip trinkets with diverse effects, show everyone how cool you are by changing your helmet (but it always stays on) and rummage in the trash looking for apples and loose change. The writing sets this game in a league of its own, arguably equal with Disco Elysium and highly entertaining for different reasons. It is much more humorous and earnest and tongue-in-cheek than Disco's ever was, and yet much like Disco it treats decidedly serious themes like racism, sexism, intent versus effect, the hard choices of rulers and the search for purpose, and that's before you get to the politics. You see, there's an election happening in 5 days, the very first election in the city as a matter of fact, and it will DEFINITELY change the city in some way. How will it? Who should you vote? Who's everyone else gonna vote? Should you get in good with them by being a two-faced smarmy 'apolitical' slitherer, or do you shout your choice of AGRARIANS loud and proud from the rooftops every chance you get, even though they were subsumed by a much more successful party, you hipster? Ask EVERYONE what they're going to vote! The newspaper stand boy! The angel with a halo full of eyes! The black cat! The ages-old tree! This politics stuff is REALLY important! Really, the only criticisms I could think of would be the miles of (entirely optional) exposition and background lore, that only really pop up in dialogue if your stats are high enough. They're not exactly relevant to your quest at all and you don't even need to look deeply into them. One writer/designer was responsible for this all, having developed the world and the principles of it over years of work. I'm endlessly thankful he was noticed and managed to secure a publisher, because Esoteric Ebb is certainly up there with its inspirations and mentors Disco Elysium and Planescape: Torment as one of the finest stories in an RPG. I am not ashamed to say that it made me laugh uncontrollably, tear up, and fall deep in thought. Well done, Christoffer. You made a masterpiece.
