It shares a name and a universe with the original Erophone, but please know that Re is much more heavily a visual novel than a simple "difference" game with simple hentai scenes. There's a very deep plot about hidden worlds, mysterious, conspiracies, and the violent, lethal tensions between humans and aijins, supernatural humanoid beings, and you'll be spending a LOT more time reading about that than the ease and speed with which the original threw you at sexy girls and then sexy times with them. On the subject of sexy times, a lot of it is much more explicitly consensual and less violent than the original. There's a lot more dating, bonding, and romantic but non-sexual intimacy with the girls this time as you get to know them before you bed them. I just hope that you like the much smaller selection of girls this time, as they went the "deep quality for a handful" than "many shallow events." The plot, ultimately, however seems like a bit of a convoluted, mind bending mess about [spoiler]being stuck in a Matrix like situation by an obsessed angel who wants you to be her loyal love slave, but you keep losing your memory and restarting the cycle over and over again.[/spoiler] The game says it's the "best" ending, but in my mind, what happens there seems to be more a sequel hook with them hoping people buy the next game for a satisfying ending, rather than a satisfying ending in itself. Ultimately, I still recommend Erophone Re, and I admire the developers moving beyond the simplicity of the original to add much more static images, deeper plot, and much more heartfelt and emotional interactions with the world and the characters than the shallowness of the first. It's not exactly something I'm going to boot up for a quick fap, I don't like how they reinterpreted my favorite character and the scenes they built for her, but I'm sure that someone, out there, is still going to enjoy the high quality Live2D that the game still features. So, TL;DR: Hentai Visual Novel, 80% Convoluted Plot, 20% Hentai. Something that tries to be very visceral, involved, and unafraid to get serious and throw some text and action at you rather than just shuffling you along to "action."

[h1]Summary[/h1] Erophone Re is a eroge visual novel with puzzle elements. The game follows the main character Sato going through his everyday life before he suddenly encounters a phone that leads him on a wild adventure encountering many different girls called "Ajins" [h1]Pros[/h1] Erophone Re offers a good story with absolutely fantastic art and great soundtrack. Personally, the art is what attracted me towards this game and it is by far it's greatest strength. The H-Scenes are mediocre but can still be considered a positive. [h1]Cons[/h1] While this game definitely has the core concepts of a good eroge, it fails to deliver in multiple different ways that are far too great for me to recommend. First, the game has absolutely horrific English translations. if you're a Japanese speaker, you will probably not find this to be an issue, but seeing as this game is marketed towards a western audience, I feel as though it will be a major issue for most players. Second, the hitboxes on the puzzles are horrific. This is an issue that was presented in the previous game, and has not been fixed in this game. It's way too difficult to click certain differences in the spot the differences game. The final and biggest issue, is that this game is NOT FINISHED. Despite being advertised as a complete product and being sold at a price of a completely finished game, this game isn't finished. There is only one main ending you can achieve, and at the very end of it, it says "to be continued". You are left with an inconclusive ending, and for the price that this game is being sold at, it's unacceptable. [h1]Conclusion[/h1] While Erophone Re has it's positive qualities, the art, story and music all being fantastic, there are way too many issues to justify this game being priced at what it is. With the horrible translations, unfinished game, and clunky puzzles, I cannot justify recommending this game to anyone. It's been roughly 3 months since the game has been released when I'm writing this review, and there is no official statements on the game being completed. If it is completed, I suspect they will make it a seperate game, which would require you to spend even more money on a product when the original one wasn't finished. Please, for the time being, do not purchase this game. If the developer can complete the game, fix the hitboxes and put in proper translations, the game would be absolutely recommended from me, but the issues are too severe for me to recommend them. As of now, I'd have to give this game a 3/10.
