I dont have a real need for something like this yet, but the fact that it exist excites me. While rough around the edges I think a program like this could be very useful for many students or businesses in the future. Realistically I can imagine a way something like this could be worked into almost any industry.
⠀
While the concept is good, the program doesn't work properly, and doesn't even give any indication that it fails. Apparently all of the lecture content requires something abstract (flash? quicktime? web browser?) the developer hasn't figured out; there are a couple of installers bundled under a "LectureVR_Documents" directory, but at least the flash one didn't work (on Windows 8.1) and even deleted itself without so much as asking permission. Should it happen to work for you, perhaps you can figure out what it does depend on?

Engage is a Free Social VR meeting program for VR education. Worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played good, sounded ok. Built for Education use, but could be used for business meeting too. Has Youtube video player and web browser. The avatar you can make are real looking Full body and you can send a photo to be converted to your head texture. Has some pre-built content you can play solo for free. You can also use Engage using Monitor with Keyboard and mouse, but with lower level of function. You need Viveport client also working to use Engage. They have added some content, but they have locked down on what you can do as a person. Now, you have to buy a subscription or license ( the Pro account ) to make content or host public events, or visit most of the content. If you are Free, you only can join other free unlocked events or try solo some maps that are free. Requires account from the dev to enter. Maybe try this program for free, then decide if you want to purchase Pro account.
This software has improved quite a bit recently. Much better menus and navigation. The experiences are starting to point towards an acutal educational value for students. Try the physics cannonball experience. It's a great blend of instruction followed by hands on practice. In many of the instructional lessons, the environment of the setting is changed to enhance the verbal explaination and draw attention by the viewer. Next to Body VR this is making it's way to the top of demos I will be showing to educators. The motivation factor is there, what VR needs to show is that it can have a measured impact on academic skill. So far most programs are enrichment in nature at best. Engage points in the direction of targeted instruction that will draw in additional support over the cute and fun aspects of VR.
This is the best VR meeting app for education or business that I've seen. I have a master's degree in online learning design and educational technology, so I have actually spent some academic time researching quality learning platforms. The potential for the educational use of Engage is really limitless, and there are plenty of IFX components to show off in the many virtual locations available to choose from (which by the way include the Moon and Mars). But what really sets this application up for success is that it gets the basic things right. By that I mean that there are plenty of different virtual spaces to teach and learn in: from standards classrooms and lecture halls to exotic locals like outer space. There is a great place to view 360 videos in VR as well. But what I think is also a basic component that will be quite useful in the classroom is that you don't actually need a VR headset or a gaming-level computer to use this! I installed the Windows version on my 3 year old "standard issue" laptop and it worked just fine, using either the keyboard and mouse or a gamepad controller to navigate the space as either a teacher or as a learner. You can seamlessly show videos (either from your local system or streamed from YouTube), and you can also show your students PowerPoint presentations, PDF documents, and web pages. Basically it's you the teacher standing in front of your class in a variety of locations, with the ability to conduct a class just as if you all were together in the traditional, physical sense. And to really seal the deal I'd say that the monthly cost for a Pro account is really quite reasonable. There is a free-to-attend live walk-through event in the app every Wednesday at 10:00 am EST (2:00 pm UTC) if you're really interested in experiencing what this app has to offer.
ENGAGE, profesyonellerin, etkinlik organizatörlerinin ve şirketlerin kendi sanal dünyalarını oluşturarak kendi müşterilerine doğrudan meta veri tabanı hizmetleri sağlamaları ve yeni iş modelleri oluşturmaları için tasarlanmış bir meta veri platformudur.
One of the greatest VR social apps out there. THE place to throw an event, watch VR films with friends, teach a class, and so much more.
There are so many technical issues that i don't even know where to begin. -The lack of a working IK (the one implemented only sorta does the job) -no motion smoothing on other peoples movement, just jumping from spot to spot if the connection on my is a bit ♥♥♥♥ -missing spatialization for the others' which makes it difficult to talk to someone since everyone is in your head. -They keyboard system is outdated. They expect you to write notes with a one-handed keyboard. -There are no real visemes on the avatars, only a flap jaw (also having long hair is not an option) I ended up not attending the event any further since it was impossible to do networking esecially with the spatialization issue. It would also be nice to see when you are sending audio on a hud so you can prevent breathing into the mic.
