Empty Soul - S&S Edition

La verdad me ha sorprendido bastante; como fanático de los juegos de terror elaborados por RPG Maker (sobre todo los japoneses), Empty Soul me ha gustado mucho (y vaya sorpresa tuve cuando supe que es un juego latinoamericano), es la clara muestra de que acá también hay talento y se pueden hacer buenos juegos con historias interesantes. Si te gustan los juegos de este estilo con historias o atmósfera tipo "Silent Hill", "Saya no Uta", "Clock Tower", "Zombies ate my neighbors", "Mad Father", entre otros, este juego te gustará. Cumple su cometido y tiene una duración aceptable.

Got the game through a random steam key, and after some days of boreness decided to start playing it. At first I had to figure out how it worked, but eventually i got the goal. Fun game, with some side storylines, and different possible outcomes. Had to do multiple playthrough to finally get the game 100% completion, but I enjoyed my playtime Some bugs sometimes, like switching tab and switching back in at the end made me unable to walk down. Some other minor bugs or glitches, but other then that a funny game.

Great story, suprisingly imaginative use of RPG maker, and just the right amount of creepiness to make the puzzles enjoyable whilst keeping the atmosphere intense, but not over the top. I'm really emjoying it! BTY - I got a framerate slowdown issue - This is resolvable by pressing the Alt and Enter keys together.

Great game! I'm always on the lookout for indie horror / psychological titles and I hit the jackpot with this one. Good story & mechanics are clearly explained. If you would happen to need further help, there is also a complete walkthrough. ( just click discussions ) XD

A good horror game, boggled down by painfully annoying puzzles.

El juego entretiene, pero falla bastante en temas como la falta de configuración de teclas o intentando dar escenarios lúgubres donde hay muchos obstáculos que no se ven y molestan demasiado para trasladarse o para escapar del monstruo.

[u][b]Full Review[/b][/u] You wake up having no memory of who you are and find yourself in a room that's out of a typical horror movie. An opening I've seen in a few horror-themed games and while there are other elements that are also common in this genre here, Empty Soul tries to deliver a survival horror experience within the RPGMaker engine. You play as Solan Walls, a scientist who slowly pieces together her traumatic past and meets various characters throughout her journey as the story slowly reveals itself. The story is works for what it is and there's nothing groundbreaking here, although there's some translation errors on occasion that can cause a bit of confusion. There is some dark subject matter in this beyond your typical blood and guts so prepare for that. As a nice surprise, Empty Soul has way more content than I was expecting. I would say if you wanted to get all the achievements, you're looking at 18-20 hours while you're 1st playthrough would clock in around 15-17 hours. I will also mention that there are some issues I do have with Empty Soul, the biggest being it's environments. They aren't bad or anything with a good amount of detail throughout but it can be very dark to the point of easily missing key items or objects you can interact with as you walk by. Be prepared to use a guide and save often when playing this. Also be prepared for crashes, there is 1 achievement I'm missing because it crashes at the same point right before it triggers. There is also an ending that will erase all of your save data without saying that it will with "sacrificing your memories" being your only warning. Survival horror is sort of accurate for what's here, there is a good amount of puzzle solving that you'll do, but there isn't a lot of combat\survival elements to deal with. You can tell that a lot effort was put into this game and I think the fact that what is here actually works for the most part in this engine is Empty Soul's greatest achievement. Overall, I do like the game but with the issues previously mentioned, make sure you have a guide ready and some patience before jumping in.
