this game is absloutly amazing, i really love the story of it and its extremely fun, i definitely recommend it for people who love puzzles and stories
Summary
A hidden object game where the story continues off the first game with improvements mainly to its graphics but still suffering from generic gameplay. Pros + Decently fun time sink Cons - Lots of backtracking
Overview
Empress of The Deep 2: Song of The Blue Whale is a point & click adventure game that's a direct continuation of Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret and picks up instantly where the first game ended continuing the story. There are significant improvements from the first game from the graphics to the story. Unlike the previous game there is now a lot more magic and spirits. Anna is somehow able to use healing magic to cure a number guardian animals though it isn't really clear how she is able to do so other than the fairies you collect? Compared to first game the story made things less obvious but still using similar themes of trust, while also explaining far more of the story and lore. Just like the first game they focus far more on story instead of gameplay, but with the improvements to the animations, graphics, and cutscenes it really made things better overall. There is much improvement from the first game though not many to its gameplay. It's generally a fun enough time sink with an alright story, playing the first isn't required as they explain the first games story on the opening cinematic. Gameplay Most of the gameplay is simple and nothing new to the hidden object genre, they have done a little better when compared to the first game. Puzzles are still not much of a challenge though some do get a little tedious as there are now far more items to collect and placing them in slots 1 by 1 is quite a hassle. Hidden object zones are also not that difficult as items don't blend into the background, with the improvements to the graphics the backgrounds also look much better. There is far more backtracking especially compared to the first game as the final half of the game makes you go back to all the previous areas you've been, introducing you to new zones within them but they are quite small. Most of the game is really repeating the same things 4 times and the same puzzles when freeing the guardians. After completing the main game there is also a bonus secret zone to unlock a match-3 mini game called ZEM. It's actually rather fun and you can also get trophies for getting a high score.
An hour in, but it feels like less. I have completed the first major quest, and I can honestly say I am enjoying this one. It is pretty much your typical hidden object game, with a fun, mystical story line which I imagine extends from the first of the series, but I in no way feel lost for not having played that one. So far I have always managed to figure out what to do next, though on occasion it took a little while. It is useful that when you finish an area, a notice pops up, and stays up, so you don't have to scour empty areas. The art and voice acting is fun, though there isn't really any animation as much as a series of still simulating it at times. The core, the hidden object section, is very solid, with a variety of way items can be hidden, and unlike some games no tell-tale outline telegraphing the items to an observant eye. It also hints as a bonus game, once you collect all of the memory cards, so that sounds fun! All in all, so far, a lot of fun, an easy thumbs up. ADDENDUM: About four hours, start to finish. It really drew me in, good game. ADDENDUM: The game comes with a mini-game called Zem that you can unlock, a solitaire form of Mancala, and it is a lot of fun. I keep coming back for that, even though I have finished the main game.
Yes.
is good, i like easily would make A tier at minimum in terms of hidden object games
Okay, the plot on this one was MUCH better than the first one. It took a little while, but in the second half there were some nice plot twists. The game shows its age, sure, but I had fun playing it for a few hours.
The graphic of the game is beautiful... Good for those who are looking a casual game and enjoy in playing.
Improves on the original in almost every way, but still fairly short. Still recommend. Wish the third one was still up for sale here!
Wayyyyy better than part 1. Gameplay is smoother, art looks better, the games are fun, the HOG not too easy, voice acting is better than usual HOG's. The story isn't anything to write home about, but not bad either. Definitely recommend this one! Also a nice feature is the ZEM game (bonus game), which is not only fun, but also a game you can keep playing after you finished the storyline!
