Do not purchase. This is Emergency 5 rehashed but it doesn't even fix a large amount of the issues that were present. Same sub-par optimization and glitches ruin the experience. If you want you can try your $5.99 at it during the promotion period, but I would not recommend supporting this developer until they get their act together. The pinnacle of this series was Emergency 4 ("911: First Responders" in the US and on Steam) with the LA Mod. I wish Sixteen Tons Entertainment would recognize it's popularity and collaborate with Hoppah or expand on his interpretation of the game.
Not recommending... -not optimized (most of the time graphic flickers when jumping from one place to another) -vehicles sometimes cut corner (going off road/pavement, AI/pathfinding could be improved) -Game not responding (crash mid campaign) +graphic is alright (basicly it's EM5) +campaign Buy only if you're ultimate fan of the series otherwise I suggest buying Emergancy 4 / 911 First Responders with L.A. mod They could learn (developers) a thing or two from L.A. Mod by Hoppah (make something like that and you will have more satisfied customers) don't just copy and paste from previous titles. *I really love this type of games but there isn't anything better than 911 first responders + L.A. mod and that game is old. I really hope they will stop copy/pasting and redesign the whole game (it doesn't work, does it??)

As someone who works in the emergency medical field, I really appreciate and enjoy this game. In fact, all this week after each of my long shifts on the ambulance, I've been coming home to play this; actually looking forward to it. The game isn't without faults, but I'll list each fault for you, as well as each positive point. The Good: +The graphics are nice and for the most part, I can get 60 fps (unless there are six emergencies going simultaneously). +The animations are pretty sweet. For example, while checking patients, the doctor has several animations depending on the injuries...he will take out his stethescope for a sick person, start a fluid bolus on a trauma patient, and take out his pen light to asses the pupils of a patient with a head injury. Sometimes I just stop what I'm doing to watch the doctor. +Additional content compared to the other games. +Some pretty wicked calls to go to, including: hostage situations, bomb threats, robberies, medical emergencies, mva's, gas explosions, forest fires, building collapses, protests, missing persons...you get the point. +Day/night cycle. The weather also changes..so far I've only seen light rain and rarely a thunderstorm. +A.I. seem to be improved from previous games. +Level editor, although it's not too user friendly..unless you're familiar with SDKs, which I'm not. The Bad: -As mentioned by others, the tracking issues are still present, but for me they haven't been too bad. The worst issue I had was with the search and rescue K9 vehicle making a loop around the block to get to an area literally 20ft away from the truck. And after I gave up on the missing persons mission, I sent it back to base, and it drove off the road and got stuck. That was frustrating, but in the end, it didn't break the game for me. -So far I've had two unexplained crashes while playing free play (I've submitted bug reports). -Minor glitches here and there. -Pedestrian A.I. seem to be pretty stupid. For example, if there is a fire in a building next to a sidewalk, the pedestrians will walk right next to it and sometimes can injure themselves. -I never purchased EM5 (the negative reviews scared me away), but from what I've seen and heard, this is basically a DLC and should not be marketed as a new stand-alone game. It's pretty much a re-skin. -Pricey for what you get. Conclusion: When all is said and done, I can personally look past the glitches. I enjoy playing the game and find it to be relaxing. I also understand why some people are pissed off at the marketing of this game. Hopefully this game doesn't go the route of Train Simulator "2016" where every year the devs release a "new" game with <insert year here> in the title, when it's essentially the same game. But for someone like me who owns "911:First Responders" but nothing after that, this game might be worth it for you. I was blown away at the improvements between the original game and the "new" one. Anyway, I would suggest doing your research before purchasing, but I'd also suggest not letting the negative reviews scare you away from purchasing it all together (maybe wait for a sale if you don't think it's worth the money). If you're interested in the 911 system, it's pretty much the only game I've been able to find that does it any justice (and even then, it isn't as realistic as it could be). Give it a shot!
Definitely not worth the $40... Even the $6 is a little questionable. Basically Emergency 5 with a few additional missions.
Did I enjoy the new missions? Mostly, whenever they worked. Can I honestly recommend it to existing player or even new players? Not really. The game is (still) severely bugged and broken. Units will go missing or lock up. Automation will only work every now and then, most of the time a paramedic will stand next to a slowly dying patient without lifting a finger. Pathfinding is still a WorkInProgress kinda deal, far too often will units get stuck in traffic/buildings/eachother/imaginary stuff or simply wander off across the map. I also saw multiple crashes during the 4 hours it took me to complete the new missions -- not that it has 4 hours worth of content, most of the time was spent figuring out workarounds for whenever the game didn't work correctly. Restarting a mission for the 7th time because a broken game mechanic randomly failed you isn't "challenging content", it's just plain annoying. What was the point with doing all the work for the medieval map, anyway? Two one-event "missions" using a single type of unit? No fires, no "bring out the dead", no funeral pyres, no guarding the docks.. It all just really feels like a beta experience, like something that shouldn't be out of Greenlight yet. I really wish they would get around to fix the base game before they charged more money for it.
Okay, I'll start by going over the pros: - Good story line - Realistic vehicles - The maps aren't big, but they aren't small either. A good size - Reasonable graphics. And the cons: - Quite frankly, the pathfinding of these stretcher bearing idiots is $h!t. Sometimes takes a little hit and miss, but they eventually get to where they want to go. - There are still plenty of glitches, such as rescue dogs finding someone, but the person not actually showing up - dogs bark at invisible things - People standing around doing nothing. The function of a fireman is simple: put out fires, and rescue people. If a fireman is wearing his firefighting clothes, and arrives at a fire in a fire truck, what should he do? The obvious answer is put out fires, not wait around for me to tell him to pull out his hose, and start fighting a specific fire. And, once the fire's out, he doesn't move, he keeps spraying water onto the same object! - Accidentally overwrited a save, would have liked a "WARNING! This action will overwrite any existing game in progress!". Overall, the game is quite fun. Good simulation games are getting harder and harder to come across, and this is certainly a step in the right direction for Sixteen Tons and Deep Silver. I'm not a fan of this whole plague theme, but that's just my opinion. My Rating: 7/10.
After the 2.0 update was dropped there seems to be a lot of bugs in the game as it keeps crashing after being played for about 10-20 mins Theres a lot of glitches and bugs the game dev's NEED to fix. They need to patch it ASAP. For now, I would recommend this game but only if it's on sale.
I'm sorry to say but, I mean Developers...When will you decide to listen to the community? EM4 is Still higher rated than all of your more recent Emergency Series. That there is a problem you should think of how to tackle. Yet it has a very simple solution. You say that you made EM5 all made to be modded etc... Yet only 1 Major mod has been released with very few others in progress. And then for Em4 mods are still being made to this date. Now for me, the thing that made EM4 was the mods. I have played soo much of that game, enjoying a HUGE variety of mods. So after that very successful game you decided to Bring Emergency 2012 out. Which was hopeless. But then you decide to bring Emergency 2013, which again was hopeless. But then no, you decide to make Emergency 2014..... Once again rubbish. So then you make Emergency 5. Didn't work. Not stable, barely moddable etc... So then you realise its time to bring out a copy-pasted version of Emergency 5, add a few extra missions, anotehr vehicle and there you have it! A new game... Emergency 2016. Makes me laugh really. I'm NOT saying that you Devs are bad at what you do in any way but I mean common... It doesn't take that much common sense to see what needs to be done. I'm annoyed because you are ruining a great Game series every game on. Now here is what I propose. I doubt it will be considered as barely anything the modded community says is... but: Since you pretty much copy-pasted Em5 and made it a new game. Ok, Copy - Paste EM4. Same Editing system, layouts... EVERYTHING. Yet, make the graphics better, add some new cool features and that is it. You will actaully have done what is really wanted. Instead ofcourse go and Release Emergency 2017 in a year with a new vehicle and mission... Why not.
Alright, so basically I actually bought Emergency 5 Deluxe Edition back in 2014. Gameplay was quite okay, however, the game was filled with major performance issues and bugs. Sixteen Tons Entertainment pushed few updates with new content which wasn't that exciting such as a new enforcement vehicle. Other updates weren't published and the modding community wasn't really supported by the devs. They moved over to a 2016 edition and published it. Existing players from EM5 had the opportunity to upgrade to this edition for around 6 Euros for a limited time period, otherwise they had to pay the full price of this game, back in end of 2015 for around 40 Euros. This edition includes following features:
Includes all content from Emergency 5 Deluxe in the latest Reloaded version + New Emergency Vehicle + Medieval Operation + New Campaign
I took the chance and upgraded to EM2016, but couldn't enjoy the game itself, because it erased my campaign progress from EM5 and I had to start from scratch. But now listen, they published a new edition recently. Guess what, it's EM2017. Players who already own EM2016 are able to upgrade to EM2017 again for freaking 6 Euros, new players have to pay the full price for around 40 Euros. And what does this so called upgrade offer? Take a look:
Includes all content from Emergency 2016 in this latest reloaded version + new emergency vehicle + medieval operation + new campaign
Now let's compare both upgrade features: They are identical and you would just waste your money for nothing, pure nothing. TL;DR Don't waste your money for such a greedy developer and publisher. If you're a new player to the whole Emergency universe, grab and pick it up. But do yourself a favor and do not upgrade to EM2017 if you already own EM2016 or EM5 and spend your money on other strategy simulations with regular free content updates.
My game loves to crash everytime I complete a mission in Campaign(Emergency 2016) unless I save the game half way through the mission, quit the game, restart it, load my campaign mission and finish, and repeat for the next mission. Pathfinder is worse in Emergency 2016 than in Emergency 5 and Emergency 5 is bad. Game has many bugs including can't find a near hydrant even though it is next to the building as well as sounds and some animations along with functions of firefighters, police, etc.(esspecially sundisk). For $10 I could have bought an upgrade far more worth my money than a buggy, slow and better yet crashing all of the time game/upgrade. This should sell for $10 retail because $40 is not worth it.
