The Warioware of shumps
One of the most unique shmups ive played in awhile, incorporating alot of mechanics ive never seen before as well as some omages to other shmups. The game feels like its part puzzle part shmup. There's only a few things i dint like, auto focus is on by default which is annoying when ur trying to dodge, there are some bs moments, each run tends to drag cause of too many stages. Definetly worth experiencing, despite its flaws, i feel the game can be built on to be something truly great!
Gimmick slop (affectionate) Music and art style isn't its strong suit, but you are instead presented with a set of new mechanics per segment, all boxed into a given level These mechanics range from altering player movement/perspective, enemies moving when you move, or objects changing states when you shoot it. Some mechanics go way beyond that- stage-defining even, but I won't be spoiling much past that There are also optional invisible objectives per stage and per main boss, though most of them are more on the simpler side, such as touching/shooting enough of a collectible that flies by. They're more on the memorization side, if anything, as they're easy to miss when you aren't anticipating them I'd say it's interesting looking at the game from a level design perspective, especially when imagining how many systems had to be made on the backend just to support these one-off gimmicks
I got this game in a charity bundle, and it was my favorite of the group, so I bought it on Steam to give the developer some support. Very creative game, it's always throwing new twists.
A shmup where every single stage uses a different mechanic! I was genuinely impressed at the sheer variety and how each boss fight incorporates the mechanics used in that level. The level of creativity and breakneck pacing reminded me of big games like Super Mario 3D World. For an extra challenge, you can aim for a faster completion time on each stage. Optional in-stage challenges reward you with seconds off your time, and getting hit adds to your timer.
I don't think I was doing the right thing.
A geometrically inventive shmup with a clear love for the genre. Watch what this game does with color!
An extremely fun and creative game where I was constantly surprised and impressed at just how many unique combat encounters there are, both with standard enemies and the bosses that end up mixing it all up. Lets you play the full game in arcade, but also gives you the opportunity to play each stage's pieces from a menu, going for improvement or just the head-scratching objectives it asks of you. Works great on the Steam Deck, had a blast playing it, and look forward to trying to figure out the remaining goals I have.
super neat, unique stages! This game is sweet, I don't know why I waited so long to play it.
