EFFIE Review
Effie is a really enjoyable old-school 3D action-adventure that feels like a fun throwback to that early PlayStation 2 era of platformers. For me, the controls and movement click, the puzzles are satisfying without becoming a chore, and exploring actually pays off—there’s that “figure it out as you go” vibe that keeps things feeling classic and focused. It’s not a big, “endless value” production, though; it’s more of a chilled timewaster/snack between bigger games. Another strong point is that it runs comfortably for a lot of systems—hardware requirements feel pretty moderate, so it’s a good fit even for older PCs or laptops. And if you like deals, it can be surprisingly cheap via key offers, with collectible cards that you can use for that extra cashback-style value. Overall, Effie feels like a relaxed, satisfying adventure: not overly ambitious, but genuinely fun.

Got the game as a gift, game sat nicely in my library with me looking forward to playing it during Summer. 6 weeks later...a notification!
Apr 10 - Activated as part of: Effie | CD Key was revoked on: May 12
I'm sure I can investigate this and send emails and receipts back and forwards with all the kerfuffle involved but I don't see the point. IOI did a number on me with Hitman 3 (The version you have to repurchase something you've already purchased, with me owning the whole catalogue, and with pre-purchases and all DLC through Steam). Inverge Studios can join the ever-increasing pile of game developers who can go chase a stick along with IOI. Game might be great, I'll never know. It was purchased for me by someone who loves Effie and I like them, so take that for what you will. But I'm not supporting any company which steals from bona fide customers on a system which prevents illegal distribution. So purchase at your own risk, it might get taken from your library with no reason given other than you getting to chase them up on it. I'd rather take these few years we call existence and do anything but follow up on corrupt sales people taking it out on those they require to exist in the first place. Grove Street 4 Life! :weed:
Uninspiring tech demo where you play as Young Santa and bash everything (poorly) with a shield. Hard pass.
