About
Edge of Galaxy is a space strategy game centered on exploration, expansion, and survival in a dangerous and unforgiving sci-fi universe. Players command fleets, manage resources, and make strategic decisions while operating at the very edge of known space.
The game emphasizes planning and long-term thinking rather than fast reflexes, rewarding players who enjoy systemic gameplay and careful management.
As you explore new regions, you’ll build and manage fleets, establish control over territory, and respond to threats that emerge from the unknown. Progression comes from expanding intelligently, allocating resources efficiently, and adapting to changing conditions.
Every decision affects your ability to survive and grow in a hostile environment.
Edge of Galaxy focuses on mechanics, systems, and player choice. The universe is designed to feel isolated and dangerous, reinforcing the tension of operating far from safety or support.
This is a single-player strategy experience intended for players who enjoy thoughtful pacing, exploration, and emergent gameplay rather than scripted missions.

Big issue is you ?have? to aim with the mouse but also drive with the mouse so you end up doing one or the other which for the action going on in combat makes kind of having a fast manoeuverable ship completely pointless as you aren't dodging anything as your to busy trying to hit things Second issue, I say ?have? because there might be a way to change it but the English translation is horrible, so trying to figure out what the creator is trying to tell you is a chore to say the least hopefully the Developer will fix the second issue soon
The game is clearly suitable for old fans of Space Rangers and fans of space battles in general. simplified graphics will allow even owners of not the best computers to enjoy the game.
Not a good game. Everything feels like it was barely thought out. I don't know why it has such a high steam rating. If the game is 2-3 bucks then pick it up. Any higher and it's simply not worth it. The dev didn't even remove the big "early access" from the main menu...
Like this Review? Follow The Cpt Froggy Club Curator Page for plenty more!
On the main menu screen there’s New Game, Tutorial, Settings, Achievements, Statistics and Exit. The tutorial will take you over the basics of the game and isn’t very long. There are two game modes: Sandbox and Explorer. Sandbox is where you’ll make your way through a galaxy which is divided into sectors. Each sector consists of multiple coordinates and is controlled by one of the five factions: Mercenary, Federation, Ocrons, Krios and Raiders. Beginning a new game in Sandbox, you will only be allowed to play as the Mercenary; the other factions you must unlock with points you’ve gained after winning battles. After selecting a new game and faction, you can also set your game up by selecting the Sector Size, Quests (number of), Sector Count and Enemies Upgrades. There are five difficulty levels: Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard and Impossible. Also, once you’ve unlocked the option with points, you can choose your ship’s starting weapons, from which there are six options to choose: Laser and Impulse (the default option), Laser and Rocket, Rocket and EMI, Impulse and Swarm and EMI and Beam. If you can’t decide how you want to set up your game, then you can simply hit the Randomise button and the game will make the decision for you. After hitting Start, you’ll find yourself looking down on a map of the galaxy, interlinked by points of interest in white. Moving from play to place are red spaceships, with which you’ll interact if you both land on the same point. If this happens then you’ll have to make a decision, either Attack or Runaway. If you choose to run, then you’ll move back to the previous point you were at. Attack will open a window where you can make changes to your fleet’s weapons (if you have other weapon choices), after which, hitting the Battle button will take you to the battle screen. You’ll find your fleet of ships on the right where you’ll be able to change your battleship tactics through the options on each of your battleships, such as attacking the ship with the minimum or maximum shield/hull, or choosing the fastest/slowest ship. There is also a mini display here for each ship so you can switch between them. The main battle area has you looking down; I found the visible area a little too close, so had to scroll out a bit. In the battle area there are also asteroids floating around to avoid. Once you’ve defeated all enemies, you’ll gain some rewards which you can divide between the Fleet, Equal (Between all ships) or Battleships. You may also gain some ship parts like weapons, action modules, engines and wings. As you make your way through the galaxy there are some quests to complete. These quests could be to protect some coordinates or to win a number of times against a certain faction. As you visit each new point there may be an event, a shop, something to repair, or you may find some new recruits to hire. At the far end of the galaxy is the Galaxy Gate, the exit which will end your game and detail how well you did. Explorer mode is a vast network of points to explore, with each point a new galaxy that you will unlock as you complete each one. In the options you’ll find settings for Sound, Anti-Aliasing, Camera Movements, Camera Speed, Music and Sound Volume Sliders, and English, Russian and Spanish Languages. Also the Keyboard Shortcuts. The game is in Early Access currently so there’s going to be some problems here and there. I found the controls a little clunky, especially with the main battleship. Unlike the small ships, where you can give directions to move, for the main ship you’re unable to do that, and having to constantly point where it needs to go takes away from trying to fire your weapons or pay attention to your others ships. Positives + Multiple game modes + Five factions + Has achievements Negatives - Clunky controls - No cards currently Travel across a randomly generated galaxy, complete quests, hire and grow your fleet as you search for the Edge of Galaxy. 6/10
Key provided by developer/publisher for review purposes via THE CPT FROGGY CLUB! Very nice RTS. I like that you only control the main ships (so you can focus on it) and the rest works automatically. Here is some gameplay showing the game off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgltuUlXt7s
Very addicting real-time strategy game, very similar to stellaris. Leveling escorts uses a different currency than parts/weapons. The goal is to win by exiting the spiderweb style map. I hope that the developers will continue to develop and promote it. Recommend for purchase
Today, a short look at the Edge of Galaxy space strategy in early access. Early Access success Currently, the best-implemented part of the game is fighting. Battles are dynamic and short. At the same time, proper mercenary management and equipment improvement have great importance. The development of the armada was interestingly solved after each skirmish, we have a choice of who get the spoils "mercenaries" or commander. This is not an easy decision: we buy ship upgrades and equipment from the fleet budget, but it is money for ship crews that enables them to grow. Just traveling from system to system and increasing your fleet's battle potential can give you a lot of satisfaction. A very interesting aspect of the game are also enemy special forces, which actively hunt your fleet on the main map, putting some pressure on the player. Five different factions to choose from also increase the potential replayability of this title. Early access problems After a few hours of spend with the game I can see that it still requires work. The interface is quite coarse, especially fleet inventory screen which forcing scrolling. In stores, the equipment that we cannot use is not highlighted in any way, which means we waste time browsing the entire range. It is also problematic to acquire new mercenaries, despite many games, I rarely came across stations that allows us to change the composition of our fleet, more often I simply included to team defeated enemies. Rating Edge of Galaxy is a game with potential, but requires refinement. At the moment, apart from a few bugs, the biggest problem is basically the lack of a story or side quests. Although current exploration is not as thrilling as in Starcom: Nexus or Crying Suns. I can see that the creator focused at this stage of the game development mainly on space battles and the remaining aspects leaving for later. Also the mercenaries we command are impersonal cannon fodder, anonymous units more from RTS than an NPC with character present in the Star Wolves series. It makes the title boring in the long run. However, shorter sessions consisting mainly of battles and dewelop of the fleet are more enjoyable. As announced, the creator will add mini campaigns for each faction and side quests in the next few months, thanks to which the skirmishes will gain some story background.
