Eclipse places you in control of a vast interstellar civilization, competing for success with its rivals. But instead of overcomplex set of rules and overall epicness, it offers more accessible choices, more elegant mechanics and much faster gameplay.

Love the board game Eclipse, but as its not for everyone I rarely get the chance to play it. Was super excited when I found this on the steam store. When I started playing I found approx 50% of games freeze and cant be reloaded. Its incredibly frustrating. Makes the game totally unplayable. Pretty disappointed that the developers went to all this effort to make the game and couldn't finish it. 2/10 wouldn't even give it to a redheaded stepchild.
The game itself is good, the UI can be fiddly but you get used to it. However, I haven't been able to finish a single game of decent length, against other players or the AI. It always gets to a turn (usually right near the end) and then gets stuck doing... something. You can quit and resume the game, but it's still stuck. Looks like they've stopped supporting it since the last update was in 2016? Maybe worth getting in a sale, but be prepared to lose and rarely finish games.

Fun game, full of bugs. I have played single player only. I bought this version of the game as I own the board game and have enjoyed that, but setup can be a beast. I hoped that this would be a good version of the game that I could play solo or with friends online. I have yet to pick this game back up and have it work 100% throughout an entire game. I always stop playing for a while, and then get excited that maybe now, over a year after my initial purchase and countless patches later, the game will work and be enjoyable. It's enjoyable - until it stops working. If the game worked, I'd recommend it. Until that mystical day comes, I cannot.
Glitches everywhere. Unpolished mess.
This game is so riddled with bugs that it's nigh-unplayable; I wasn't able to get through a single game because it kept freezing, crashing and generally misbehaving. Eclipse is an awesome board game, but this digital implementation simply isn't worth it.
I'm playing it on my 2 in 1 tablet-laptop and it works well in both modes. People complain about the UI. It isn't perfect, but it really isn't as bad as it is made out to be in some of the comments. The mixed reviews left me hesitant to get it, but overall I've enjoyed it, but I've only been doing single player and have yet to move into the online world. It does crash, but it hasn't been a major issue for me. When I try and go to the menu, it sometimes crashes, but the game autosaves and I can just resume. It also always crashes when I finish a game, but I don't care because I'm finished.
It's fun, thanks to the fantastic original boardgame. I'd wish the UI was a bit more thought out though, with more options, and the developer would implement more content, such as the "Rise Of The Ancients" Addon. Recommended overall.
