About
The galaxy has been a peaceful place for many years. After the ruthless Terran–Hegemony War, much effort has been employed by all major spacefaring species to prevent the terrifying events from repeating themselves.
The Galactic Council was formed to enforce precious peace, and it has taken many courageous efforts to prevent the escalation of malicious acts.
Nevertheless, tension and discord are growing among the seven major species and in the Council itself. Old alliances are shattering, and hasty diplomatic treaties are made in secrecy.
A confrontation of the superpowers seems inevitable—only the outcome of the galactic conflict remains to be seen. Which faction will emerge victorious and lead the galaxy under its rule?
The shadows of the great civilizations are about to eclipse the galaxy.
Lead your people to victory!

It's a pretty okay variant if you want to play the game or experiment with ideas, but don't want to gather an entire party of people to do so. It's quite a buggy mess with crashes when you open menues, AI getting stuck without executing any actions which forces you to reboot the game (however you can pick up from where you left so you don't need to restart the entire game), and sometimes the AI just ends up doing completely random things. However, overall it's pretty okay and a decent implementation. Wouldn't recommend it as a game in of itself due to it being so unstable and the AI being pretty bad, but consider it more as a sandbox for Eclipse players that want to mess around a bit. Price is a bit steep for what it is though so keep that in mind.
I already own and love the physical boardgame. A while ago this was not playable due to bugs - as of now it runs well enough. I only played singleplayer against bots on steam deck These are my main takeaways: * it structures the gameplay/rules really well and I learned a few new things about the rules * it runs actually quite well on steam deck - maybe its a little small to read for some Bugs: * every now and then parts tech tiles get stuck on screen and do not disappear - the gameplay is not impacted though - its only a visual thing * once an Eridani AI never stopped thinking and I needed to start a new game What should be improved imo: * I dislike how population is visualized (standard and andvanced and whether it is populated or not) - maybe it is possible to diplay this more clearly * add expansion support for the 4 other races, minor species, rift cannon and so on
Too many bugs. Gets stuck or crashes way too often
Pros
1. This is a serviceable build, like other said 2. Game file is only a 100+ MB, save your PC space 3. Almost all things are shown in main board with 4 tabs on side, nice and neat
Cons.
1. The UI text size is a bit small, and not adjustible, sometime its hard to read without getting close (which makes the tutorial game even harder for someone with 0 knowledge of game) Some of of techs is different from Boardgame version 跟BG版本的東西有出入 a. Nano robotics grants one more build action rather than -1material for building action b. You can colonize a money planet with 2 slots with all 3 ships when you spam left click on it ( advanced economy has been upgraded for me when I really realize it, but I think I had encounterd it before in the middle hex with just 2 standard $ and not upgraded econ.) C. IIRC, missiles are reused after one fight. I have seen Planta AI with 2 slots of plasma missiles ONLY, destroy 2 Drako's ships, then double ancients, then clear the population with missiles..... (edit: happens again with me using Planta with soliton missiles, it seems to refresh between fights at a single hex) And my friend found that the colony ship is a bit buggy? (He counts that he put 8 colony ships for one generation) D. IIRC, once saw a third AI player cross the middle hex with a drive >=2 (with the two AI, each having 2 ships at middle, so the total stopping power should be 4, and it doesnt got cloak device for sure with AI and there was 2 ships for each player so it should be pinned down no matter what) Recently tried to do the same with 3 of my ships, 3 drako ships and 2 planta ships at the same hex, my interceptor with 1+2 double drives wont go through 3. No logs to follow-up on what others have done, with VS 5 AIs its hard to track what others have done. 4, No dice is shown when rolling for attack (which make it feel less engaging) And i couldn't find the way to manual aim, i.e. all damages are auto-assigned in the local game vs AI, even more less engaging 5. Online games does not feature AI player, which is a bit downer for when playing with 2-3 friends only. Online gameplay is meh, refresh rate for the game lobby is weird/super slow, It takes time to load// sometimes I couldn't even press the refresh button with a totally blank game lobby page (I guess I could not even connect to the game server) Update: Crashed 2 solo game vs Strong AI, with involves player/AI picking/Viewing the anicient ship part of the discovery tile then the game totally froze with only menu button working at times, after a few tries of menu-out and resume game (still stuck), the menu button fails too No luck reopening AND reinstalling the game...(played at July 2025)
Its good, i feel like its a little buggy, however if you already know the game and have an itch for it. this will do. Still nothing compared to playing in person with friends.
This is a terrible interface with terrible buggy UI, stupid AI, no real settings for gameplay, no tech discount, and a laundry list of other reasons you should NOT buy this garbage game.
It recreates the boardgame pretty well although the interface takes some practice learning how to do things.
Love the board game, but currently the steam app desperately needs a patch to fix the issues and bugs
Very much like the game. I do think the AI could be a little stronger but its a challenge. I just win here more than when I play with my friends LOL.
Very true to the board game. Great option when you feel the need but no one wants to play...
